Did I catch it right that the founder of IKO is the same Eric who's behind Starkites?
my IKO experience - i paid close to $2k for the IKO instructor training course at miami kiteboarding, including travel and expenses to get my IKO instructor certification. on the 'about us' page of my website i listed my qualifications, level 2 PASA and level 2 IKO instructor ...i'm known for giving safe instruction and have a 5 star trip advisor ratings. the head office of the IKO called and told me i could not list my IKO certification on my website or use the IKO logo because i'm no longer an IKO member. does anyone find that strange? what college or university do you know of, when you graduate asks you to pay a membership fee every year or you can not mention you have a degree from the college or university ...seriously?
Any possibility to get IKO instructur certificate near London?
I think the closest one is Zenith in Clacton on sea.

Im 17 im finishing school this year and im looking for the funnest job ever, could this be the one? I already kitesurf for two years. The real question. ¿do kitesurf instructors starve?

As you anticipated, it's a beautiful profession.
As an IKO instructor, you must have specific characteristics to be a professional: passion, good knowledge, excellent communication skills, empathy, and patience.
You must have multitasking skills because kitesurfing instructors have to do, control, and pay attention to many things at the same time.
You must be precise, dynamic, technical, and somewhat athletic because you will spend many hours on your feet and on the move.
It's a job, and like every job, your success will depend only on your dedication and desire to work well.
An IKO instructor teaches excellently by being part of a large and dynamic community.
This will allow you to work in the most beautiful and windy places in the world.

Live the dream and pay the mandatory fee every year even if you don't plan to teach this summer 👎👎 there is no possibility to pause your subscription. If you don't pay in time you have even to pay a 40 usd fine.

Please know that your membership help us keep all our content up to date and allows IKO to remain the safest kiteboarding organization worldwide. It also allow us to develop new content and translate multiple learning tools available for Instructors and kiters. And if you stop teaching, your membership offers you an insurance for kitesurf activities. Wether you decide to renew your membership or not, we hope you stay safe while kiting ;)
