  • tec-it.com - In this video you'll learn how to use your Android Smartphone as a barcode scanner for your PC.
    👉 For mobile scanning and data acquisition, we recommend the Scan-IT to Office app, the successor of GetBlue! 👈

    TEC-IT's Android app GetBlue is able to capture data from camera scanner apps and from external Bluetooth or TCP/IP devices. The captured data can be forwarded to arbitrary targets for further processing. In this video we want GetBlue to scan barcodes with the camera barcode scanner and to transfer the data via Bluetooth to a connected PC.
    To receive the scanned barcodes with a PC, we use TEC-IT's keyboard wedge software TWedge. By default, TWedge displays the data and transforms received bar-codes into keystrokes (keyboard wedge mode). The data appears like manual user input to target applications like Microsoft Excel. TWedge can also be configured to store the bar-codes directly in a database or to a text file.
    GetBlue is a versatile Android application for bi-directional data acquisition: GetBlue collects data from Bluetooth SPP, TCP/IP, HTTP and camera scanners automatically in the background. The captured data is forwarded to adjustable target devices, files, online spreadsheets or even injected into 3rd party applications. Bi-directional device communication is supported, manual communication functions for reading and writing data are available as well.
    The data acquisition app GetBlue can be operated like a cross-switch: it captures data from an adjustable data source and forwards it to any supported target. The following devices and protocols are currently available:
    * Bluetooth SPP and Bluetooth RFCOMM
    All serial Bluetooth devices supporting the Serial Port Profile (like SPP or RFCOMM barcode scanners) can be used. GetBlue supports Bluetooth client and Bluetooth server mode, thus device as well as PC connections are possible.
    * TCP/IP
    Any device providing a raw TCP/IP socket.
    * HTTP
    HTTP GET and HTTP POST requests with adjustable parameters.
    * Camera scanners
    GetBlue offers an internal barcode scanner. External scanner apps can be used if required.
    * Manual data input
    Device commands can be entered manually.
    Try it yourself! Download GetBlue from Android Market. A full version (play.google.com/store/apps/de...) and a free demo (play.google.com/store/apps/de...) are available!

    But you may check the app "Wireless Barcode Scanner" from TEC-IT. While it's intended for remote bar-code scanning the app still needs to be extended to accept the additional manually entered value. If interested please get in touch with us via email: support at tec-it dot com.

    Of course - you may use other software as well. It depends on the capability of this software if you can use Word as target.

    • @TECITSoftware
      @TECITSoftware  Před 8 lety

      Hi! The setup and paring process is required only once. After everything is configured you just need to ensure that TWedge is started on the PC. Instead of using GetBlue you may use another TEC-IT app called "Wireless Barcode Scanner". This app is simplier to use and focusses exactly on scanning and transfering the data to a PC (see play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tecit.android.bluescanner.demo). On the PC you still need TWedge. Hope this helps!

    • @yasminebencheqroun5419

      Thank you!
      I just have one last question. Can this transfer of data also occur using a web server on a PC? Because I'm trying to upload the information to my website using Drupal (to basically have all the data on a server that can be accessed from a mobile device as well using a web browser). If this doesn't help my case, do you have any suggestions as to what can?
      Thanks again for your time!

    • @TECITSoftware
      @TECITSoftware  Před 8 lety +2

      GetBlue (the app shown in the video) is able to transmit the barcode data via GET/POST requests (see settings of data sink). The app Wireless Barcode Scanner (mentioned in my last answer) is able to transfer data via WebSockets (your Drupal server needs to work as WebSocket client - see this basic example. www.tec-it.com/en/download/android/wireless-barcode-scanner/Download.aspx).

  • @TECITSoftware
    @TECITSoftware  Před 11 lety +2

    You should try the app "Wireless Barcode Scanner" from TEC-IT. This is the right app for your requirements
    Now to GetBlue: You are describing 2 problems and 1 feature:
    a) Barcode Scanner: This may be caused by bad barcode quaility, bad lightning, to low camera resolution, etc.
    b) Infinite loop: Thats by design
    c) Bluetooth connection: this can be tricky to set up - please follow the video step by step.

      Hi! We offer another app named "Wireless Barcode Scanner" (see play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=TEC-IT&hl=en). This app scans bar-codes and sends them to the PC via Bluetooth or WiFi. In addition you can enter data manually - which is also transferred to the PC. On the PC you need some software for receiving and processing the data (e.g. the new version of TWedge offers Excel connectivity: www.tec-it.com/en/software/data-acquisition/twedge/keyboard-wedge/Default.aspx)

Here is the scenario: - i want my tour guide to be able to use their android to scan barcode from each passenger's ticket before allowing them to board our coach (in this case, prior to the check-in time, we want to include the barcode onto our ticket template then we send the ticket with that said barcode to our client), so at the time my tour guide is scanning the barcode from somewhere far away from the computer, the information will pop up in the computer, on which system/software that we had implemented beforehand. With the built-in Javascript Editor you're able to write the data into your SQL Database. This message means that TWedge is working as keyboard wedge (converting received device data into simulated keystrokes) and that TWedge is the active application in the foreground. Thus TWedge itself will receive the simulated keystrokes - which makes no sense. You should activate your target application (e.g. Excel) and ensure that this target application is the active application (e.g. by maximizing it).

      If you need to adjust more details you may customize the generated script (Configure -> Advanced -> Script Editor). The interface parameters for your device need to be configured as usual.

      Another option would be the app "Wireless Barcode Scanner" in combination with our Software "TWedge". Please check out the following video: czcams.com/video/Tf8x122My3w/video.html

    I take it you still need to install ZXing barcode scanner, or do you have your own App for that? I have a Samsung Tab2, and am battling to get ZXing to scan any products, so am looking for an alternative app.

    • @TECITSoftware
      @TECITSoftware  Před 10 lety

      The app GetBlue allows you to use external barcode scanner apps. Install the preferred scanner app (e.g. QR Droid), go to GetBlue settings, adjust the data source "Camera scanner" and select your scanner app. Please note: not every app can be used or works in combination with GetBlue.
      Hope this answer was helpful.

      TEC-IT Software Thanks, have tried installing QR Droid now, to use in place of ZXing, but when I open the QRDRoid app, it tells me my device does not support autofocus, so 1D scanning is disabled. I am trying to scan product codes, so it looks like I purchased the wrong device :-( This Samsung Tab2 isn't going to cut it. And here I thought Samsung was a good brand.

      Hello and many thanks for your request!
      You may try our app "Wireless Barcode Scanner" (see play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tecit.android.bluescanner.demo). This camera scanner sends the data to an arbitrary target system via Bluetooth, TCP/IP sockets or WebSockets. Especially the TCP and the upcoming WebSocket support should enable you to receive data with your Java app.
      Please get in touch with support@tec-it.com for a beta with WebSocket support.

      Thanks for the quick response! I will look into something else and check back if anything is released.

      TEC-IT Software By any chance do you know anything I could use as a bar-code scanner using my phone. Im trying to get it to work on my POS software and online software but I have no (working) scanner.

      Brendan Jennings Sorry, no. Maybe you could use an Android-Phone for scanning?
