I guess she never learned to look both ways before crossing the street. Tough way to learn the lesson.
I even look up in the sky before I cross a street so I don't get hit by a crashing plane or a meteorite
My fellow pedestrians, if you were to run a red light, please at least make sure there is no car coming through the intersection
The woman ran out on front of the bus the driver did nothing wrong
Does that pedestrian not understand that buses move when the light is green?
that no walk signal is up for a reason
This pedestrian represents road attitudes more generally, here in Vancouver. The drivers are no different, just more deadly--and that includes buses. The mindset is: I need to get to wherever I'm going more than you do, and I'm just going to do whatever the fuck I want to get there. See how she just put her head down at the last minute and appeared to be hoping for the best, just before the bus hit her? She expected it to stop. The same thing happens to me every day with cars making left turns on my corner: the driver and I will make eye contact, and although I have the right of way, it's obvious that they're not going to stop, so obviously I get out of their way. But they'd blame me if they ran me over, just like this idiot is probably blaming the bus driver for hitting her.
That was obviously the pedestrian’s fault.
Agreed. She was the one being an idiot, but luckily this person got it on camera that it wasn't the drivers fault
"look both ways before crossing the street"... Seems like this person needs to go back to grade school
Impatience and ignorance can be deadly!! Even with a green pedestrian light, people should keep an eye out for traffic and “blind” drivers of cars, motorcycles, bicycles and scooters!!! Thanks
That section of Granville Street crossing Dunsmuir has signs that say Buses Only, but she thinks they mean Pedestrians Only
wow he stopped so well im impressed i thought she would go under for sure super responsive driving great job hope his passengers are ok
Good job parents YOU forgot to teach YOUR child how to cross the street
I hope she's ok!
If not I'd feel so bad
for everyone who'd get inconvenienced by the driver waiting out the emergency services!
is the bus ok
She ran across that road with the same intelligence as a deer
That's why you cross to the other side of the street first before crossing another street.
Translink bus: out of my way
Pedestrian: ouch
Translink bus: I’m really sorry
Pedestrian: I will never forgive you
Not a pedestrian - a jay walker.
The real crime is here is the incorrect title of the video.
A better title would be "Translink bus hit by stupid pedestrian".
To view the hit, go to 0:47
She looked like she wanted to get hit
Did u submit this video to Translink security so they could investigate what happened?
Good reflex on that bus driver.
what is more surprising I saw 3, I mean "three" bikes in the bike lane! That's something you don't see that often.
Natural selection at its best...
Almost won darwin award..... booooooo
This is why I am extra careful wheater I am walking or driving. All it takes is 3 or 10 seconds to have a terrible accident. If anyone is reading this please, I say please be careful of where you're going, it doesn't take but a minute to hurt/kill another person this way.
Hey mate. Is it okay if I use this video for my new compilation? Full credited ofc! Thanks a lot..
Meh. Stupid is as stupid does
She ain't got no tears left to cry
She’s lucky that she didn’t get ran over by the bus.
The light was red for her and she was looking at the world through the little window in her belly button. Another Darwin award!
There’s always that one dumbass who just has to ruin the day for others. I hope the bus had a speedy recovery.
A learn behavior that her future children will thank her for...
i have no sympathy for idiots that walk in front of moving traffic, ignoring the safety features (signal lights) that exist TO KEEP THEM SAFE
like turning off the safety on a gun and putting it in ur pocket with a handful of sticks when u go for a jog
Just how did she not see that bus coming mean let alone not hear that 27,500 lb bus mean from what it looks like she did that on purpose like she wanted money tried to scam the bus company good thing city buses have camras these days to prove the bus driver did nothing wrong.
she legitimately has no peripheral vision she coulda avoided that if she looked both ways
also i thought that the pedestrian was going to get hit by the person recording
Karma.
I truly hope the driver of the bus is ok , the lack of common sense of pedestrians Just aimlessly running into the street. Don’t understand that that is a 60,000 pound vehicle can’t stop on a dime now that drivers is effected for the rest of his life because of the ignorance of that pedestrian. Come on folks pull your heads out of your asses and use alittle common sense 🤦🏼♂️
WHAT THE *fuck* TRANSLINK
i feel bad for that guy🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤙🏻🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Would it be alright with you Mr.Kumar to use this clip in my upcoming road madness compilation on my channel? Credit, links in the description, and name on the screen, as always will be provided.
Look forward to your response.
Natural selection
What if a person had brawn so big that the bus got destroyed instead?!
I didn't realize BC Transit ran the buses in Metro Vancouver. Isn't it Translink running the show?
They don't. Anything past and including Aldergrove is Translink. Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Hope, the Island, etc. Are BC Transit.
Would be better if Darwin dealt with that illegally crossing pedestrian.
Should titled "pedestrian hit a bus" hope she's ok.
Negative: pedestrians runs into bus. This emphasizes the action on the pedestrians part being what caused the accident. Anytime you claim at icbc this framing is important
ouch ...
I almost was hit by a bus and it was mt fault I was not able to brake intime on my bike I that spot going down the hill
New flyer xt60
Dids pizza any good?
por weona
The bus company will now need to pay some money to that lady
No they won't. Buses nowadays have dashcams that record everything. The video from it is all that's needed to show she was on the phone.
Hi Vikas Kumar,
We would love to feature your video on our CZcams Channel!

Wow looks like most people just took a look and kept on walking.
Third world? Globalization? Yeah, no.
This phenomenon is what is known as the Bystander Effect; the greater the number bystanders, the less likely they are to offer help. It happens everywhere.
pretty much everyone on the right side of the screen went up to the person that got hit. you blind?? also, thats literally first year psychology lol, bystander effect.
What do you think you would have done?
The best thing to do is to call 911. Never touch a person who was hit by a vehicle, NEVER. If their neck is dislocated you can kill them. If she stands up on her own, then again, what can you do?
Once one person is assisting no more are needed.
People do have places to be and people to meet. They don’t have time for people that run in front of buses.
Thats why you use BC TRANSIT not BC TRANSLINK dont trust those trolleys trolling people down the street metro vancouver
Clearly the person hit was brainless to cross an ongoing street. It was not the bus fault.
Both sides were at fault.
@Frank Doucette: I'm not wrong. The bus driver accelerated too fast and didn't watch for hazards, and the pedestrian clearly didn't look both ways.
Why ask? You work for that shitty BC Transit company?
You are wrong on so many levels. First, it's not BC Transit. Second, I am no longer even a resident of BC. Last, four seconds go by before the bus goes into the intersection - that is not too fast. I also know for a fact that the bus would have been able to reach maybe 15 km/hr in the distance it traveled. Again, not too fast. Buses on the Granville mall do a max of 30 km/hr - a speed they can't attain by the time they reach the opposite crosswalk. Do you know why they do a max of 30 km? Because of pedestrians like the one that ends up getting hit in this video. 30 km/hr is also the max speed a vehicle can travel that allows a good chance of survival when there's pedestrian-vehicle collisions. It's never any driver's fault when someone runs/rides/drives in front of the vehicle they're in when the driver has the right of way and they are not given any time to make a stop. You can check off all those boxes for this collision. I guarantee you that incident was deemed non-preventable by the adjudicator at CMBC. The company holds drivers to a higher standard than even the Highway Traffic Act does. Clearly, you know naught of which you speak.
An additional comment... if the driver wasn't looking for hazards, then explain how the brakes on the coach were applied *before* contact occurs.
All the driver has to do is honk the horn ahead of time and accelerate even more slowly if conditions are not ideal. There are a crapload of pedestrians in downtown and the chances of hitting one is much higher there than at an open wide road. And buses are much more massive than conventional cars.
You fail at common sense I see.
And I had a chuckle at your hyperbole. Won't bother explaining why and it must suck for your friends to take terrible advice from you.
gaiachaos2000 You're funny. There are no ideal conditions on the road - only as good as it gets or not as good as it gets. It isn't common sense for drivers to travel down the road honking the horn constantly; that's the only thing that could be done if anyone were to take your lousy suggestion to heart. Nor is it common sense to go even more slowly than slow in the event that a pedestrian runs across a street that is only open to commercial vehicles, against a red light, in front of a vehicle, and at the last second. The only safe speed if you are assuming everyone is going to break the law and put themselves in harm's way would be 0 km/hour. That must be some uncommon sense to which only you subscribe. The driver did everything reasonable in that incident. They proceeded on the green light (after a pause), and accelerated at a reasonable rate. How fast, exactly, do you think a sixty foot bus accelerates anyway?
And, once again, you're getting things wrong. I made no exaggerated claims and everything I said was to be taken literally. I guess you fail at common sense, or at least common knowledge, because exaggerated claims not meant literally are what hyperbole is. Save your pity for yourself. Keep chuckling, though. I'd hate for you to be wrong and morose.
that’s 100% the woman’s fault
