    I own a sccy I've everyday carried for 2 years, and spent many hours and countless rounds at the the rounds, with only 1 issue that was a broken, magazine retention spring, I called sccy customer service on sunday I got to talk to a human, they emailed me a FedEx shipping label I mailed the weapon out Tuesday received my repaired pistol back on Saturday, agreed the sccy has a long heavy trigger, and I have spent many hours with snap caps getting used to it, once I've gotten it down that little pistol, fires consistent groups time and time again keep in mind I have my personal firing range and shooting is my hobby, I own many firearms, s&w colt, and Taurus g2 I personally choose the sccy for self defense the g2 is rather uncomfortable for everyday carry which I did carry it for a year, with a quality horse hide iwb holster, for me the sccy is way more comfortable smoother not as blocky not as heavy, after thousands of rounds of ammo I never got used to the taurus trigger, I do however completely agree that the grip is easier on the Taurus however I found follow up shots to be smoother with the sccy partly because recoil, grip and trigger doesnt seem to work as well together on the Taurus

    I have two G2C's and after replacing the triggers and sending one back for a less than quality repair job, I had to take it apart and file down and polish the edges on several parts along with the feed ramps to get it working correctly. One trigger is a SAO and the other is a SA/DA with restrike capability and they make all the difference in the comfort and shootability of the pistol, and were well worth the 30 bucks. If you wanted to you could just disassemble to the trigger assembly and knock out the pin holding the blade safety and remove it and retain the stock trigger.
    The gun already has an internal firing pin safety in case it is dropped and a manual external safety so the trigger blade safety is a bit unnecessary and only creates a hitch and stick in the trigger pull and can pinch a bit as well. Both of my G2C's function flawlessly now and the first one has about 4,500 rounds through it and is not showing any unusual signs of wear. I keep them clean and lubed, and they're holding up quite well, are not ammo sensitive, and are accurate and dependable.

    • @wilycoyote9091
      @wilycoyote9091 Před 8 měsíci

      @@richardkrueger9097 Wish I could believe that. So many times in my life I have seen where a company advertises "Under New Management" and changes their name because they ran the old one into the ground. Smith & Wesson just built a new plant in Maryville, TN as they're moving out of Massachusetts where they were founded because of strict gun laws in that state. There is a high probability that many of their top gunsmiths and employees other than the Management team wouldn't be willing to pack up their families and move to Maryville, so they'll be hiring a lot of new folks, but also losing a lot of their core experience and expertise. Maybe Taurus is doing a better job now in GA, but I am not sucker enough to try a third time to buy something of theirs.
      Be very cautious of all of the reviews you read online from the "professional" reviewers, as they get their test and evaluation guns supplied to them and you can bet the farm that those T&E guns have been gone through completely and tweaked to perform well to garner good reviews which drive sales. I'd rather buy a T&E gun that works well than take my chances on a random new one off the shelf. Taurus may talk up quality, but they still have one of the highest rates of returned guns sent back for repair in the industry. Just too many other options out there.

    Well done. Grip width on the Sccy resulted in mine going to a new home. I found the long trigger reach, the harsh trigger pull and grip width combined to make it the least pleasurable handgun I'd owned. But it shot fairly accurately, and carried well. I've been tempted to give it another try, but I have others I own to fill the niche (Glock 43, Walther PPS) albeit in single stack form. Good comparison, sound conclusion.

    I've been carrying the SCCY CPX2 for a few years now. So light in the Armalaser holster that I sometimes forget I'm wearing it. Just got the new slide from SCCY that incorporates a Riton MPRD-2 micro-mini red dot sight. The Riton shakes "on" and looks great. The kit also came with a new hammer and spring combo that made the action much smoother. From the rear of the action, you can see the hammer coming back to breakover point. I took a little of the Wife's red nail polish and painted the tip of the hammer. In target shooting, I can now see exactly when I'm at the break over point. I had to cut a slot in the holster to accept the Riton sight. With a bit of care, a razor knife and a black sharpy, it looks factory fresh.

    @_dmfd Před 5 lety +4

    The Sccy is a better option for self defense carry. People are going to hate on it since it's a newer brand and it's very cheap. The Sccy has been on the up in aggrivated crimes lately due to the price. People shoot and kill and just toss it because it didn't cost anything and is more reliable than the Hi Point C9. Their warranty is amazing and customer service is on par. Honestly tho it's probably because from the factory these pistols have so many issues and Sccy has to stand behind fixing them. The long trigger pull has plus that it's very safe especially for nervous first time carriers who think they're gonna blow a hole in their hip thigh or groin. The downfall of the Sccy as a carry is the trigger. You're right that it is very smooth but the long pull and reset really hurts the defensive situation scenario. If I'm in a defensive situation I want to stop my target as quickly as possible and with that trigger rapid fire and aiming really gets hurt by this. If you want a very accurate shot you have to pull the Sccy trigger slow and steady. I've never been in a defensive situation yet which I thank God for everyday but if I ever am I'm sure I'm not going to be as calm and collective as I am at the range. That being said the Sccy is a better carry option in my opinion. Also the gun has alot of very nice quality parts especially the rail for at the price point. I've been carrying it since last March and its very easy to conceal lightweight and safe with the DAO. I'm going to upgrade soon and use it as a backup in the glovebox. Great review on both tho. The only thing I would say is you were wrong about the Taurus trigger as it is single action. Also Taurus' rust very easy which is annoying to any owner.

    @benthere422 Před 5 lety +30

    But be aware, Taurus customer service is not the best in town. They have my TCP 380 since May 2017 and not sending it back. So if it has to be a budged gun think twice. What if you need repair?
    A product is only as good as the service on the product. You could buy a Mercedes Benz, but if you have no real service for that product, it is practically worthless.
    So because of the lack of customer service (no, the nice talking lady on the phone does not really help a lot if you have a problem) I vote for Sccy.

The Taurus has one single action trigger pull after racking the slide, and if you have a round not go off, it has a much longer double action pull, as he demonstrates. That is why the "dead" trigger feel he talks about happens too. The "dead" part is only dead in single action mode, after racking the slide, but it is a pull the whole way to use the double action function

    One thing you didn't mention that is a consideration is the method of takedown for each gun. The G2c has a Glock-style captive takedown lever. You pull the lever down on both sides (after pulling the trigger as is necessary for most striker-fired pistols) as you let the slide move forward and it will disengage from the rails. The SCCY has a removable tab that you must use a tool or the rim of a cartridge to remove while the slide is locked back before you can let the slide come forward. I would be concerned that there is a chance that you may lose the pin, rendering the pistol inoperative until a replacement is found.
    Another consideration for the G2c is that it has a rail, albeit a short one. This increases the options for a gun mounted laser sight or flashlight. With the SCCY, the only lasers available have to be trigger guard mounted, which limits your choices in lasers.

    At the weight they are,with the flush fit mag, the sccy basically is a 10+1 pocket pistol, and is actually lighter than the hellcat,and sig p365.the trigger is long and heavy but that is for a reason ,it is very smooth and can be mastered easily with a little practice.The gun is basically idiot proof.If you need to arm a person in an emergency situation, who has little to no experience with firearms, this gun is a simple as a hammerless dao snubnose revolver.And their customer service is absolutely the best. I've used them 3 times,two of them were my fault as I had overstretched the hammer spring trying to lighten the trigger a bit.the first time it was to have the frame pins replaced with the newer larger ones as the originals would start to work their way out after firing a mag or 3.But never have I had either of the 3 Sccys I have owned (still have two)fail to fire or jam on me at all.Probaly have at least 500 rnds thru each.

    Christmas weekend Academy had both for $199, after holding both in my hands I went with Taurus. After going thru 8-10 mags (getting use to trigger), I like it a lot. It is my first CC pistol to purchase. My home defense/range gun is XD mod 2 5”. Yes 1st thought was the grip was too aggressive, but while shooting it, never bothered me.

    The main issue I've seen with my sccy is they do fire high. But alot of it is because of the long trigger pull and the kick that's not compensated well because of the guns light weight.

    I actually own both and both have been Flawless over the past year or so.... For concealed carry I actually prefer the Sccy because I feel safer carrying something with a long double action trigger pull and do not care for guns with a manual safety.

    JustinOpinion..... Based on this video you hit the target much better with the Taurus. When it comes to the trigger the more you shoot it the more you will overcome the challenge you have with the trigger. I have the Taurus in 9mm and am looking forward to the G2C 40. Thanks for a sweet comparison video.

    I own a PT111 G2 and a cpx1, carry both, agree with the back strap on cpx. Looks like I might have to get a G2C and cpx2, great to have more magazine's. Sccy has way better customer service, Taurus by the way the slides are not compatible, mags are between the G2 and G2C. Another great video.

    As of a couple days ago i am at 5000 rounds through my G2c and not one malfunction of any kind. I want to hopefully get to 10,000 rounds with some good news!! I bought a Glock 43 for my wife and had 2 malfunctions with the first mag run through it, plus my wife hated it because it was too hard to handle (kicked to hard tried to bounce out of her hands). She tried the G2c and was very happy with it and with better capacity too. I have many Glock's and carry all off and on but i am finding myself carrying the G2c more than any, it just shoots better (straight) and feels better to me anyways. One thing i HATE about Glocks is their mis-representation of the so called "safe action trigger", which is very misleading to new users. Anyone with any gun knowledge knows this safe action trigger should never fucking EVER be called a safety...someone is going to get killed thinking it is a safety when it is NOT, and i don't give a rats ass what anyone says its not...their marketing team is a bunch of fucking nuts! Whether you decide to use the safety on the G2c is up to you, my only advice is if you use the safety you better be training under high stress situations to gain muscle memory because using the safety, you are taking away from your reaction time. Anyways i posted on many post throughout 2018 that the G2c was going to be something special, as the more i used the gun it just turned out to be "that special gun" that was going to change the reputation for Taurus ....and it has for sure!!

    I've had no trouble with the SCCY since I bought it... I did read a lot of reviews before it took it to the range... Given what I learned from the review. I polished the barrel and feed ramp. Haven't had the trigger pin creep some have had thus far. Over all choice I still prefer my Glock 27 converted to .357 Sig.
