- Prior to friend zoning Kai Cenat not only did Tyla ink a record deal with Epic Records despite only having 1 song released, but now thanks to her viral hit "Water" plus remixes from Travis Scott and Marshmello, Tyla is one of the most buzzed about new artists in 2024. However as with anybody that blows up seemingly out of nowhere Tyla's come up has raised red flags among fans... many quick to label her an industry plant. In this video we reveal the truth behind Tyla's suspicious rise to fame.

That’s what I’ve been saying, but apparently yous a hater if you point that out. Nicki Minaj doesn’t even have a single Grammy, but I’m regards to African artists what about Ayrra Star? Tems? from South Africa here, Tyla didn't grow organically, she has a big machine behind her, she was just a girl who made TikToks then all of a sudden she comes out with a High Budget MV and a song (Getting Late) and she already has a team (bare in mind she was still a new fresh upcoming artist). By this time she is already doing TV appearances in SA, performances in Africa and shoots. Thats very rare for an upcoming artist who is pushing their craft on their own and grinding, after only 2/3 singles she is now an International Pop Star, make it make sense, she got the push from someone powerful with connects and her success was not organic at all...South Africans only know Tyla now because of Water but they can't recall her career/music growth in SA because there was none...Girl went straight from an upcoming artist in SA to a Grammy winner in such a small space of time...she is a Plant, Tyla is a manufactured artist, she didn't hustle nor put her sweat; blood & tears into her career, it was literally handed to her.
She does have talent though , I know a lot of it has to do with her charisma and stunning looks
@@Juan-ux5kx yes her looks play a really huge role in her success, but there are many talented artists in SA making great music but they are not pushed or given opportunities like Tyla, it's sad but her success will make it a bit easier for the upcoming artist in SA to break thru into the Western Market
What’s your point? Record labels scout for talent through social media and they go for people who they think are the most marketable. That’s how they do it now. So big record labels have been planting plants since 2010. Get used to it.
@nene what’s your point? Record labels don’t have to look for artists who have been making music for ten years. They will sign whoever they think is the most marketable. Record labels have been planting plants since Rihanna. How long was Rihanna an artist before she was signed? Get over it.
@@Lillyroot1 yeah sure but the problem is she is acting as if she has beeeeen in the industry grinding for her break thru, I'm from South Africa so I know that's not true because we didn't know her, she was not popular here in SA. Must Record labels not promote their artists??? Serious question.
It's basically become standard practice. What took, Beyonce, Whitney, Eminem, Jay-Z, etc. decades to be global sensations, take some artists less than a few months. Low ticket sales. That happens to industry plants a lot. They have to pay people to go to their concerts.
With Tyla, it’s a mix of labels really wanting to tap into the burgeoning global music market in Africa and good ol pretty privilege (I do think she’s def talented but let’s not ignore the elephant in the room, at least half of her marketability for brands and international audiences is her being breathtakingly gorgeous). Her songs are a nice blend of amapiano, afrobeats but with enough pop and R&B elements that make it digestible for western markets (mostly America). Her accent is also very minimal in her singing and music too, at least compared to when she’s speaking - probably by design. She’s got all the ingredients for global stardom as far as labels are concerned but we’ll see, time will indeed tell.
Because she’s not pure B and mixed that is why she is attractive. She will get ran through the industry in a heartbeat.

People saying "Tyla is an industry plant because her record label is the reason for her success" has got to be one of the dumbest takes I've ever heard. Like, that's the POINT of a record label---to sign talented artists, promote the fvck outta them, and make them as successful as possible, so that everybody makes money.
Agreed those calling her an Industry-Plant are just lame jealous haters the Job of a Record-label is to push their Artist & the thing is if she wasn't as talented as she is she wouldn't have been able-to handle all the pressure tht comes with being a Global-Artist...... However, here's the thing she's proved herself to be more than capable of thriving under the Biggest of Spotlights if she's not a Professional, exceptionally talented Vocalist & Performer then why is she thriving under the Biggest of Spotlights & not folding/drowning Calling All Haters Pray do tell/explain??!!!!

@@Infinityintrigues276 the point is that there are many African artists that have worked harder and has way better music. Burna Boy, Asake, Davido, Tiwa savage, Wizkid etc. I don't think she should have won the Grammy because other African artist have more to show for yet she only won it because she started blowing up in the west. Most of us Africans, if u ask, don't like her music that much in comparison to other African artists. This is extremely unfair to all the extremely talented and hardworking artist out there who had to hustle from scratch to get where they are. This is not to say Tyla is not amazing. I love her. But, quite frankly, there were other African artists that deserved that Grammy. The sole fact that she won it shows how heavily underrepresented we are in the industry.
She gained popularity in the US and other non-African countries through manufactured means, while Tyla may have found success in South Africa. However, there seems to be a noticeable agenda to replace ‘certain’ non-American artists.
She's there to replace ayra. Her Grammy win in the African category was a steal. She could have easily won it in the global act category

It's the music BUSINESS. and you're angry she decided to do better marketing?
It's literally the same reason people go to dragons den. To get business connects and marketing to reach their audience. And that's LITERALLY the job of the labels. Handle marketing and cancel all the industry barriers for you so your music can literally reach the masses. Why have a record label or business connection /deal of that won't happen. Why sign to a dragon who won't help you.
Lables don't do their job (sign artists and don't promote them). You complain. Lables do their job ( sign artists and do a great job at helping them reach their masses then let the music speak for its self after) you guys still complain

The idea of an ‘ Industry Plant’ suggests someone has been selected to have a career crafted for that artist. It defeats the idea that an artist has crafted or honed their own talent and image so well or so succinctly that a music executive took notice. Therefore, you could easily say all recording artists are industry plants.

A industry plant is someone like Britney and JLO,her images her created by her labels.
@@DD-rk6knShe didn't her personality,so she isn't.
actually no. We hardly see artists with that type of story. Most major artists have to work for years and brand themselves until they get a machine. Look at Doja Cat. She was signed, but not selected to get a career handed. She had to blow up on her own. Then a machine got behind her. EVen though she had been signed for years at this point.
@@dhsf5937 Britney is a plant of her parents. She was a child star, so she worked for many years to make a name for herself within the industry. J-LO on the other hand was chosen, because Tommy Mottola wanted to use her to hurt Mariah Carey. She couldn't even sing. She' has probably the worst back story of any industry plant ever.
Rihanna is a very positve example of industry plant. A guy found her on his trip to Barbados and all of a sudden she was a handed a song and a career. Today she is one of the most respected pop stars. Time will show if Tyla can do the same.

Do we, as a society, have a standardised definition for this term "industry plant"? Because we keep attaching it to people who have been very successful, but that doesn't make any sense. As far as I can tell, she's a beautiful girl with a great body and a lovely voice, who was lucky enough to catch the attention of the right people. If she wants to remain famous she'll have to give up something, let's not be naive we all know what powers run the industry its just a matter of time
She already gave it away…they won’t let you blow up unless you sell your soul and sleep with all the men in high power…..what do you think the “‘meeting” in Dubai was all about? Tyla is a STAR.......No one can deny her talent.
A star that fell from heaven.
2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 1:6 refer paraenetically to angels who have sinned against God and await punishment on Judgement Day. The Book of Revelation, chapter 12, speaks of Satan as a great red dragon whose "tail swept a third part of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth".

Watch she become the next Rhianna for her generation just because of where she from, not to take away from her talent. I look forward to seeing more of her.
But hold this actually makes sense! Because Rihanna had the same kind of emerging story, similar look, she had that 1 song that got her EVERYWHERE (pon de replay) even though she had other songs before and she just blew up outta nowhere. Good observation my dude.

Im from Africa and I knew about her and her music way before she blew up so just because you didn't know her doesn't make her an industry plant. She has been making music for a very long time and she was verified a long time ago way before water came out. If you are gonna do your research do it right.
how many songs did she have, before she signed with Epic Records? Can you name them, please.
As a Nigerian I knew tyla from Tiktok 2020 and by that time she literally had just one vid on the app and luckily it went a bit viral because of her LOOKS and hadn't even released her first single, she didn't even have up to 2000 followers on Instagram and then released "getting late" which didn't do as good as you'd think it was soo obscure and no one knew the song, the lyrics and beats where repetitive and sucked so naturally one got tired of her as loooks only takes you so far then 2 years later she's this big artist and the confusion and disbelief like I was happy and impressed but it was sus. Before that my brother is a close friends with a South African and it well vast in South African music hadn't even heard about tyla and that was 2022 they later knew tyla and that was through water

Sho madjozi needs to tell her story cus this is sketchy and messy asf
it seems sho got shelved to the side. and they took her song and gave it to Tyla. crazy! and people say tyla worked hard.
What story does she have to tell if she didn't write the song herself, therefore it's not "her song"? Also their music differ on so many levels so the song wouldn't have sounded the way it does, who says it would've attained the same success if Sho'Majozi sang it?

@@Starseed_888 8 PEOPLE FUCKING WROTE WATER DUMBASS
It’s ridiculous to think that any global star really “comes out of nowhere” in this day and age. Maybe they get that initial foot in the door out of nowhere, but it always takes a team to shoot videos, set up appearances, connect with more well-known stars, arrange tours, etc. That’s what the music industry is all about. And as for her young age, many Grammy winners have been younger than 22.
Plus Tyla won the Grammy for Best African Music Performance, a category tailor-made for her performance. I’m sure that award was in the works for some time, and was a product of an industry-wide effort to promote more African pop artists.
Finally, Tyla isn’t the first young, beautiful, ambitious female singer (or actress) to date or even marry an industry insider who helps her career. Sometimes unscrupulous insiders will exploit such ambition in unsavory ways (see R. Kelly, for example). But other times it’s a genuine relationship between two people with common interests and ambitions. Sometimes it’s even a young male artist who forms a relationship with an older female industry insider, although that’s far less common.
Oksalayo, she's talented! We love her and we're proud. She's doing the things 🔥🔥🔥

It's all about social media trends now. She's famous for a viral dance, shaking her arse and pouring water on it. Tyla been an upcoming artist since she was teen like 13 or something, i once saw her video on youtube singing.
It took her more than a decade to blow up so she struggled like every other upcoming artist
Tyla is not an industry plant she worked for her for success. these labels only work with people that have potential or talent, so Tyla is really talented she can sing and perform
Shit is deeper than you thought.. She wants something , they want something too. Once you undestand , your common sense will kick in..
Overall, she is a industry plant. She never was underground. And she was instantly picked to be pushed by record label. The definition of an industry plant. That’s all it really means.
Let us praise where praise is due and pray the music industry does not swallow her up, let her enjoy and walk away in her own time and choosing.
Too late. She's young and too eager for fame. The industry is already working hard to swallow her up. I just hope that she's smart enough to stay away from the men that want to impregnate her, humiliate her and ruin her reputation. She was planted, plain and simple. Unfortunately, she was NOT planted very well. She needed more input on that last album. It sounds like microwave music. Note, she doesn't sound bad at all, on a single song from the album. BUT, her voice never swiches up. It's either extremely airy or extremely meaty. They did not so their jobs. I can't even blame Tyla, except to say, that I need her to work on emoting with her voice. That takes using a billion different tones, not just two. That's what tells me she is a plant. She has clear "talent", yet is far from realizing that vocally.
Okay, music producer, I'm sure your input has helped a lot of artist in their careers.

Why are people jealous she works hard
like folks were jealous of Britney until she shaved her head 😅 That industry is evil and filled with predators. They'll use her nievity and enthusiasm against her
Critism of somebody isn’t necessarily jealousy. That’s a juvenile response.
She's a young successful African woman. They were conditioned to fight her.
Ok so here is my take. The job of a label/team is to get you in front of as many people as possible, make you a star as the saying goes. So honestly, it makes sense that she is being forcefully pushed on us (notice that CZcams posts about her CONSTANTLY). It's just that she and her team lying about how she rose to fame turns some people off. They pretend she was just your average, starry-eyed tiktok girl who happened to go viral by chance.
From a stricly business perspective, it's a good marketing strategy. But on a deeper level, it builds false hope to others, making them think all you need is talent and a lucky viral moment....when in reality even "viral" moments are plotted by labels. It can damage the self-esteem of so many who will wonder why they just can't seem to captivate others and go viral the way Tyla has despite being just as (if not more) talented, beautiful, and charismatic.
When in reality Tyla had the same looks, charisma, and talent she has now but couldn't go viral and was largely ignored by the GP before the backing of industry giants. Back in the day we used to be aware ppl like Rihanna were manufactured and helped. That's not the case anymore which is very toxic and why industry plants are not liked.
This is so forced, South Africans don’t understand just because Shes popular in SA that doesn’t mean she will be popular in America. By next year we won’t hear another word about this girl.

I wish they didn't have to drop Sho Madjozi to promote Tyla. Would love to see more of Africa dominate the global charts.
The white manager had to because he was “dating” her while she was still in high school 😂
Tyla is an African artist (not referring to race, so don't even try to change the narrative), and she is dominating the charts, so what is your actual problem? Perhaps your tribalism and bias make you feel Tyla is not African enough? Also, Sho'Majozi has been on Ellen Degeneres' show. IF she couldn't appeal to the international market since then, what guarantee do you have that she would've appealed to them if she sang this song? Their music is not the same at all. Therefore, it would not have sounded the same. What guarantee do you have that the song would've reached such success if Sho'Majozi sang it, I mean listen to her music and listen to Tyla's music then you'll understand why it is such a hit since Tyla sang it. You don't have any proof to support your comment, just baseless and ignorant assumptions.

Fire Vid! Industry plants from another country is kinda tough to know because they could've been playing her singles for years and I'd have no clue

@@malsoliano That's exactly it. I don't really listen to Afro beats but a friend of mine sent me the first track I heard from her called "Getting late" in 2019. I was watching the movie "Juice" at the time on my PC and then as I played the song, the intro to Juice started playing at the same time (Coz that's how the movie starts). I ended up making a dope mix with the two songs (With the Getting Late video).
At the time she was said to be SA's Ariana Grande coz she's pretty, petite and sings more soprano/high pitch. So me who didn't even listen to her genre of music in general has known about her since 2019. I can only imagine how much longer her actual fans have been knowing about her. And with America know finding anything African to be cool and new, Afro beats is blowing up there too. Feel bad for Shomajozi coz I also watched her rise. Had no idea she was replaced by Tyler till that MacG podcast last year.
But yes, she's new to America. If Nasty C was a good looking guy (famous in SA for years as easily SA's best rapper), he'd probably also blow up over night when he went over to the US, but Hip-hop is over saturated in the USA so without good looks his talent is not enough to set him apart from the Drakes, Kendricks and even Cordaes.
