  • In this lesson, Boyd teaches the importance of establishing stability in your position in order to achieve ultimate bravery. Boyd takes you through how to set up your position depending on what obstacles you are facing with your horse and how to adjust accordingly if needed.
⭐ Cross-country riding requires changes of balance. Too short of reins can cause you to hit your horse in the mouth. Boyd recommends lengthening your reins to the point of your horse's wither.
⭐ Practice this at home! Get in your galloping position and practice lengthening and shortening your horse's stride, without bouncing back into the saddle.
⭐ Don't just kick to go faster and pull to slow down. Make these transitions more subitle. This creates a more responsive horse and a more effective rider.
⭐ Repetition and practice build bravery.
⭐ Have a friend video you're riding periodically, or consider picking up a remote camera. Reviewing your rides helps a lot!
