I repented after many years of brutal sin, coming back to Orthodoxy. My life has changed dramatically over the last year, but the pain, struggle, despair is a living HELL. A cross I must bear and one I deserve! I pray to God I’m on the right path.
The part about the crossroads is very important. I often think, I am doing the right things and making the right choices? I ask Christ to keep me from delusion and help me to do his will. And I hope in the end I will persevere and attain salvation. We will not know until we face the fearful judgment seat of Christ. I pray the Lord will have mercy on that day.

I wish someone would explain this to me. I must not be hearing what other people find so encouraging. What I hear in this is that Satan can steal people out of Christ's hand (even though Jesus clearly said the opposite)....even people who are trying to follow Christ? Why would God allow Satan to win this way? I'm going to be perfectly honest. If you really and deeply believe that God would allow you to be damned EVEN IF you tried your best to please God...then what kind of "gospel" is that? That leads to despair, or a nervous breakdown, or both.
