Beating Minecraft's Hardest Modpack With Nothing // Episode 3 - A Pech Of Pilfered Plunder

- In this third episode of the series, I luxuriate in the power that comes from disposable construction material, drag myself into an industrial revolution with the shattered edges of my fingertips, and obliterate the pre-existing progression meta by leveraging competing market interests and one weird trick Testificates don't want you to know.
GT - New Horizons is an intricately designed and custom-coded kitchen-sink style modpack built on the 1.7.10 version of Minecraft. It integrates hundreds of Minecraft's flagship mods into a Gregtech framework - completely overhauling the mods' traditional progression in the process, and radically rebalances any of the technologies those mods may offer.
Because doing things the normal way is 'too easy', I am following a ruleset based off of the (in)famous Garden Of Grind ruleset that places me in a completely empty superflat dimension. Every single resource I need, including blocks to stand on, has to be created out of nothing by finding clever workarounds and weird mechanics. Unlike in Garden Of Grind, I am not restricted to only my starting dimension - it's just that every other dimension starts out just as empty as my first one.
This pack is available on both the Curseforge and Technic launchers. You can also get the pack directly from the development GitHub.

the design is very human for the villiager farm
people in hong kong would kill for those houses!
The 10 house arrangement looks like a 2k/month apartment at downtown New York
From what i remember about natura, blaze hoppers likely exist because the mod is intended to let you experience as much of the game as possible from only the nether, and the blaze hoppers were added because iron is in such short supply there.
neat.
Thank you YT algorithm for putting this mad lad on my feed. Its been a long time since Ive been this invested in a series.
same here

It's crazy seeing you civilized now after living off dirt for ages
This guy is the first ive ever heard refer to like button and subscribe as algorithm adjusters.
This is exactly how I expect someone who plays Greg tech Skyblock to sound.
Funnily enough, the Witchery seeds can be crossbred and used for crossbreeding! As they count as pretty high tier plants, they are actually a really good place to start if you're going for metal generating plants.
evil neurotic goose be like "beating minecraft's hardest modpack with something"
how despicable
Pure evil
I'm so happy it's not a "100 days in sy", the editing at 14:10 with showing you grinding it out is so fun to watch.
I really appreciate how, for lack of a better word, chill your videos are. A nice, low volume, experience and some really interesting technical stuff is such a nice refresh from the typical Minecraft video. I also think the way you ask for engagement via phrases like "algorithm adjusters" is really funny and self aware.
i know this is a month+ old but DAMN you made progress fast, wasnt expecting steam this early nor would I have ever thought of trading for clusters with the thaumcraft guys. Great work!
I just watched 1-4 and enjoyed the editing and narrating style, it reminds me of when CZcams was just a bunch of videos before it was a bunch of youtubers
Natura adding blaze hoppers is probably because the foundation of its nether content is an expansion of a very old mod called Nethercraft by Scokeev9 (Imps, Glowshrooms, Heat sand, tainted dirt [netherdirt in the original mod] and Ghostwood [glowwood in nethercraft] are pulled from it, including down to many textures.) Nethercraft set out to make similar-to-overworld game progression in the nether, so adding analogues to some useful things is pretty well within the realm of possibilities for the mod, and the natura devs just happened to decide blaze rods should be the material for their hopper analogue.
I love how „breeding villagers" is a universal choke point where nearly everyone spends dozens of attempts before it actually starts working across different countries, time zones and modpacks
"Neurotic goose", but chiller than any goose I've met
Neurotic is anxiety or depression with self awareness, so it makes sense that despite having massive anxiety issues he is pretty mellow about it.
Love your humor, especially dropping a banger joke after a detailed 5 minute explanation of some weird mechanic
new to the channel, i've really enjoyed the series until now and i like the change from all the 100days videos that get pushed by yt to a more calm and longer series. keep up the great work!
your sense of humour is wonderful
The way he speaks makes this feel like he’s explaining his scientific findings to a group of the world’s smartest scientists.
Algorithm finally gave me this series yesterday!!! I love your narration style!
Love this series, found the first episode randomly !!
As did I
32:54 _“Instead of doing things the right way, I will instead rely on that special kind of quality that only absolutely turbo-stupid amounts of quantity can provide.”_
This speaks to me for reasons that I don’t understand.
these vidoes would not be so mesmerising if it werent for ur narration. im literally out here giggling at your dry humor. it slaps. so glad there's so much of this
Insane series, you are a madman. But really enjoying the thought and explanation that is going into this. Hope to see you continue it!
i love the creativity you have when over coming certain things
Just found this series and have to thank you so much for the content! Really enjoyed the narratation and explanation for everything.
Door crafting cam goes insanely hard
I love your use of “turbo stupid” lolol
insane quality. thx for all the work you've done to make this series watchable lol
I keep being dumbfounded on the depths of your knowledge in these mods aswell as the depths of your mental fortitude.
I would call this insane and it kind of conveys the direction I'm trying to take but in terms of magnitude, this is so far beyond.
At the time of writing this, your 20th episode came out and Im invested already.
Algorythm boost
Apothecary Clay Character Arc is my favorite
Your intonation massages my brain in a pleasing manner.
12:04
I was mentally screaming that you have access to grafters XD
Glad it wasn't just me
Gotta boost this dude up higher in the algorithm babeee
I believe the 2 trees from thaumcraft eventually started to use vis from the biome which got expanded as to how you got vis in thaumcraft 6, no idea if this mechanic was a thing in thaum 4 but i have this weird feelding of my trees also taking a long time to grow back then. It might also be that they have checks on their growth ticks related to biome which slows down the silver but not the great. Though somehow i remember having issues with them too in thaumcraft 2s time.
And for the blaze hopper i think...and this is honestly guessing that because people were honestly trying to play only in the nether as a challenge the lack of hoppers was annoying so natura added an option for them it also covers a differen method for early game hoppers since early game vanilla minecraft tends to get really warped around setting up basic sorting since there still is no sorting on any inventory in the game.
I didnt know you need deep soil or height for IC2 crops at all, crazy how fast they were growing
7:55 Perfect! That way they are surrounded by the heads of their worst enemy! 😂😂 Efficient!
This comment solely exist to boost your algorithm
Boost this man (also solely is spelled incorrectly 🤓)
i support this motion. boost, algorythm, boost!
It's so cool to see a letsplay like this that is not stuck at episode 1. Keep it up man!
The 1.7 villager farm has just hit me like a tsunami of nostalgia to my vanilla survival world and losing my mind at the wacky village mechanics while trying to build an iron farm
14:22 is missing some subway surfers for that attention retention
Btw straight from the GoG rulepage, this is how to get Barnarda sappling :))
To get Barnarda C Sapling, you need to first breed the Treetwister trait onto a bee and then apply it to a sapling in a "magically active dimension" which right now means Spectre, Bedrock, Last Millenium, or Pocket Plane dimensions.
I'm just amazed and speechless. And I fell very deep connection with this type of gameplay but I would not do the same, I don't even know if I will play this modpack in it's basis, without challenges.
out of all of the things to be taking from this amazing series, and after all the years I've played minecraft. How TF have I never thought to put my escape block a block away from the wall so I didn't have to break it every time...8:38
I really appreciate the writing in each of these videos
“Top the villager off then shove it in with his friend” is wild
I like that chill enderman creeper.
“A little bit of warp is beneficial” that’s the warp talking, it’s affecting your brain
You are the reason I came back to MC. Your knowledge about this specific challenge is fascinating
Incredible series, keep up the good work.
I can't tell if it is the Za, but this is pretty chill to watch. I honestly do not know why I'm so invested.
No idea how this ended up on my recommendations but im glad it did.
33:00
Ah yes, the 'tism is a powerful weapon in the right hands.
20:20 time to enchant some stone age loot boxes
I was wondering why, out of all possible things, the *number of doors* could possibly be a bottleneck for villager spawning when you're practically swimming in wood and then the montage of the 483 different steps required to craft them started and I remembered what modpack this was
I remember ages ago, I did a lot of research into what villagers considered houses, and made decorative chairs in my house that incorporated doors so that villagers would consider them houses. Was kinda neat.
I love this series so much. I’ve been running out of things to watch on yt recently and running upon this is amazing… you’re SO ENTERTAINING like by all accounts this series should be boring as hell but I’m really enjoying this. Making me want to try this mod even though I know I can’t before my finals are over so I don’t get too distracted 😭😭
i adore the name "algorhythm adjuster" hahaha
15:28 "this bone mattock is soo poor, it makes you feel poor" 😭
Incredibly entertaining!
The reveal of the native clusters in the forager drop pool was insane
2:54 "filtering all the babies into a drop chute" woof, that's a phrase, hahahaha
Farming useless crops, my beloved
I love the fact that this is still consistently being uploaded.
Sometimes longform content can get boring after a while, but the commentary is always super engaging. Keep up the good work!
Enjoying the video format, having the time-lapse in the top corner was nice, if I had the time I'd get into gregtech
"save some for the rest of us" 23:45 does this mean you're going to town with the villagers off camera, are that you want to but they never take a break?
“Algorithm adjusters”… that phrase alone got a sub
3rd video of this series: still enjoying it.
Natura adds a good bit that enables 'nether specific' survival stuff for whatever reason, so thats why blaze hoppers exist
Love the head island
That edit at minute 13 that showed all the different tasks was really smart! That was a pleasent surprise in what was already a pleasent surprize of a YT channel!
24:01 I really can't understand why the fact that Natura's cotton can be harvested with less efficiency but less regrowth is a thing in this pack. Frankly, i'm not sure what Natura is doing in the pack in the first place, as as far as i can tell literally every part of it is duplicated to at least some degree in the pack's other mods. I also really don't understand what exactly the point was of the pack developers downscaling some of Natura's textures to be pixel-consistent with the sixteen 𝐩𝐱∕𝐦 of most textures-after all, pixel-inconsistency is a _core part_ of the æsthetic of this era of modded Minecraft!
Comment boosting because I enjoy this series
I'm hooked
Your channel is a gem, I'm so glad your video got recommended to me
5:38 train jumpscare
this guy will go insane by episode 20. I can feel it now
Ayyy algorithm boosting! Cant wait for the next episode
Never knew that Pech traded so many different items! I'll have to try that next time I find any of them.
1:32 "Reading Is For Nerds" ... guilty, I guess... D: hrmpf... :D
Thanks man for allowing me to binge watch every video you have and I really hope you'll grow big you deserve it man❤❤❤
I love this series :)))
23:38 "I'm not gonna judge them for what they get up to in their free time" They have no free time you forced them to have a 24/7 baby making job 😭
Lovin the series
bro do be doing all that and losing shit all the while being calm about losing all that progress lmao, what a chad
I love omg😍😍 this should be on a t shirt
Great video
Here to boost this in the algorithm
mob passive drops is Witchery, not Botania. Botania doesn't really add much of anything to the vanilla game besides alternative dyes, witchery adds a bunch of weird structures and mechanical changes.
Fantastic video! Keep up the good work!!
I know this is 4 months old, and as such not really relevant to you anymore, but you could have made a much more effective villager breeder. Because of the faulty way in which villages detect which villagers are members of the population, you can trick the game into endlessly breeding villagers. Placing a platform with 6 houses and a villager around 8 blocks above a group of at least 2 villagers will cause the villagers to woohoo with each other endlessly. No need to move them 64 blocks away.
If you want an explanation of why this happens: There's a discrepancy between how the village checks for members vs the radius in which it tells villagers to breed. When it checks how many villagers are members of the village, it only checks around +-6 blocks on the y axis, while when it tells villagers to breed, it does so in an 8-ish block radius around the centre (if I remember correctly, which I might not).
Love this series so far! Keep it up!
This sort of thing fufiils the same niche as weak-strong power fantasy isekai in a way, anyway its great seeing a world get built from utterly nothing
I may be 3 months late, and he might've changed it all since then. But he should replace the floor of the villager area with hoppers so the passive emerald drops dont despawn and he doesnt have to be a bum and scavenge for emeralds, they just accumulate in a chest.
Algorithm adjustment complete
Pechs can also spawn in tainted land biomes too, which is stupid because they just get infected by taint and die lmao
i can say with certainty thay the algorithm boosts are working because 1) the series got recommended to myself and 2) it wasnt just me based on the number of 1-2 day old comments
