If the AMC theater by my house were to go away it would not matter to me to much. What I would like to see is a comeback of the drive-in theater. You can still get your handjibbers, can sneak in mass amounts of snacks, typically see 2 movies with your admission, don't have to get in an arm rest fight with a random person, and if you have a DD you could probably booze it up a little bit. Not to mention getting some fresh air.

It's one thing to have the option to watch a movie at home. It's another thing entirely to have that decision dictated for you.
Most movies, I would rather go see in the theater. A rom com, sure, fine, I can watch that at home. I don't need the big screen for that. Some movies, seeing them in the theater with a crowd is like going to a rock concert. You just can't get that experience watching it at home.
I can still vividly remember seeing movies in the theater like the original Star Wars, Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller, ET, the original Ghostbusters, Raiders of the Lost Ark. The first time I saw The Matrix was at home, and I do not remember the experience; pretty sure I would have remembered if I saw it opening weekend in theaters, though. And seeing Endgame or Infinity War at home is nothing like seeing it in theaters.

The only time I go to the theater any more (before the 'Rona) was for a blockbuster movie in a premium experience like IMAX/XD. Hell, the theater a mile from my house charges about the same damn price for a 30-40ft tall screen that the theater the next town over charges for a 70ft screen, so I definitely prioritize the "experience" over the convenience, plus there is no home theater setup that is going to match the awesome power of a theater projector and sound system unless you are putting down at least 40-50Gs.

Every one of these theatre experiences is ruined by a crying baby or talking.
I have my own big screen, and my own surround sound, my own food, and own crowd to watch with.

No they wont be available on streaming. These movies cost a lot of money to make, they have to go to box office to recoup that and make a profit. They make almost no money from streaming.

If movie theaters disappear. Studios will spend less to invest in movies. No more big marvel movies unless Disney plus adds another level
