Today we're looking at the rare and strange Ferrari Uovo, built in the early 1950s by famed Italian Racing family the Marzottos. It was one of the very first full blown aerodynamic and weight savings program and it left its mark not only Ferrari but racing in general

“Hmm that’s a quality egg car”
Mille Miglia : THE G IS SILENT!
It's not silent. Its Italian pronunciation is close to the English 'Y'.
It's pronounced me-la meal-ya
@@CatRacer1A2A correct 💯.
Meal-a-miglia
me - lee - ah
For English speakers this is close enough - there are nuances that are nearly impossible for non Italian (native) speakers to master.
Tomek and huffy are both kinda right - the G is silent........ish.
It's there when Italians speak to each other but if you're not native then you'd spend so much time trying to massage it in that you'd fluff the rest of the word/sentance.
For anyone else me - lee - ah will get the meaning across more than adequately - my dad spent 25 years managing an Italian factory and his pronunciation was TERRIBLE. Nobody downed tools and they kept making a profit, so no need to get precious as long as the message gets across.
Chi se ne frega.
I thought I knew a good amount about cars, but I had never heard of this car.
Thanks for the video
First comment; You should make a video on the Citroën 2CV it definitely deserves a proper review
Agreed💪
Even the Peugeot 205, and some other French and European cars that started or were a huge influence to cars that we drive today.
@@AdhirSingh_SA_1995 Definitely buddy
I had no clue this car even existed! Thank you for teaching us some history brother 🫶🏻
youtube days
Its a shame about the 'exclusivity' BS with Ferrari in the modern times, where you have to buy 20 different Ferraris and sell your soul to the devil. I get its a special brand but it doesn't warrant their demands. But I'm not a customer, don't have the money so my opinion doesn't matter, and if I ever do have the money, I'll buy from independent car dealers.
Edit: Babbel will help with the pronunciations😅 not paid I swear... 😂
They never did really care about selling to customers. Now it’s even worse like you said
While it does exist, the exclusivity and the whole you can’t modify your Ferrari thing is often a bit over exaggerated. Like the jay Leno story was more of the dealership that was treating him like shit than Ferrari itself. Like yea some of it is a bit much but some of the stories about it too are a bit cherry picked and exaggerated more often than not ( not saying there isn’t cases of them being full of shit, they just aren’t nearly as prevalent as some people say they are)
Thanks for a very interesting episode. Your thorough research and serious and intelligent approach make the video a real pleasure!
I love the thumbnail lmao it's just *EGG*
The central snout and pontoon front fenders strike me as a harbinger to the 250 Testa Rossa
or a shelby cobra
9:20 "Scuderia" is not someone's first name. It means "stable" and is used like we use "racing team". Mille Miglia is pronounced MEElay MEElia. Kudos for not saying JagWIRE.
Beautifully ugly? The car is absolutely gorgeous in every way !
The stature of the car reminds me of the McMurtry Spirling.
Having just watched an update to Adrian Newey's RB17, I can see similarities as to its design intent.
Something isn't odd or ugly.
Something or someone has to give you the impression first.
Consequently ,
The populous is programmed into believing some thing or way is beautiful. Do what you can to not be manipulated.
Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder.
Pronunciation - English is the odd one out, everyone else stuck with European vowels
They're still there, in English, if you know what to look for
eg
a as in Apple
e as in Energy
i as in pizza (see, you can do it - easy )
o as in Omniverse
u as in glUe
So Uovo.
U = oo
O = oh
Vo = exactly what you'd expect
oo - o - vo
Try to make it flow together and you'll get eggs instead of guava when ordering breakfast in Rome. Don't put an A in words that don't have an A in them! And no U at the end when it's an O.
I like it, reminds me of the OSCA's.
It looks like sentient cartoon car named Doomie in Beetlejuice.
0:58 Actually you are mostly correct there than here: 1:02 XD
It's "wo-vo" and not "wo-a-vo"
Love it. Thanks!
The headlights being different shapes kill me. Is that a design choice for aero or is that after a few crashes? 10:19
they came out with the Egg then they came out with the Coop.... we dont know wich actually came first though .. ha hha
Can we ban this guy from ever saying Mille Miglia with a loud g again? It’s pronounced “Mille Millia” for christ sake. A thousand miles.
And scuderia guastalla is not the name of a person, it means Team Guastalla. Which by the way was one of the first Ferrari dealers in Italy.
beautifully ugly? imo its a good looking car, might be hard to get in and out of but isnt that the case sometimes?
D'EGG!
Omg wait is this fluump???
This video pairs very well with a good poop.
Wayvo
the uwu
❤
Third comment :(
Firt
Winning the MM, an Italian institution, does not make Ferrari “exotic” ugh
You’re a car guy, and wanting to be a communicator - pay the heritage some respect and look up the basic pronunciation, and then your editorial slants may have a modicum of defence.
Absolutely!
