As the series goes on, they go further in depth of the purge and the affects of it. This is a good series. And there is also a tv show that goes even deeper into what happens after/during the purge and the lure behind it.

Psychologically, the purge is an amazing movie and concept. I think the scary thing is if it actually happened, i think the amount of people who participate would be sky high. Especially considering the state of the nation. Humans are the scariest thing on the planet.
I think the participation would be far less than most think, also humans do a lot of good compared to other species, you think an alligator or snake cares about what they do or eat? Some humans have traits not found in any other species.
I'm so glad you guys are watching this franchise. My favorites are the purge anarchy and the purge election year so I'm looking forward to those reactions.

This is a pretty crazy film franchise! My dad saw the trailer and it said that it's about population control, implying that there are too many US citizens, where the wealthy get picked off by the lower class.
You mean the lower class are picked off by the wealthy & lower class. The wealthy are able to afford security, but the lower class aren’t able to protect themselves as much.

Love this movie franchise! Each movie approaches The Purge from a different level: the original PURGE focuses on the upper middle class, ANARCHY focuses on the lower class, ELECTION YEAR shows purging from the political stand point, FIRST PURGE shows the birth of THE PURGE, and FOREVER PURGE is our worst nightmare! There’s allegedly a new one in the works.

I recommend this film for you to react to called: QUARANTINE (2008), a horror in the Found Footage style that is very tense, harrowing and has a remarkable ending, you will like it.
I like your channel but too many reactors just constantly guess and theorize throughout the movie, it’s getting tiring trying to watch.
Edit: Guessing by your wife’s reaction you don’t own any firearms, good luck defending your house with a baseball bat or calling the cops lol.

When I saw this the first time I thought -Interesting premise but come on, allowing people to do crime once a year would not prevent crime. (1) Some crimes are fueled by need or greed. So those people will steal etc when they need/want money. Once a year won't fix their problems. Other crimes are fueled by rage hatred lust. Again those will not be satisfied by doing that once a year. Thing is MANY people criticized the movie for this being illogical. The people who made the movie took this feedback and to their credit took it into consideration in the follow up movies. So later we find that the Purge doesn't work the way the government SAYS it works. The government is lying. From that point on the movies made a lot more sense. In fact in some ways the later movies are cautionary tales that are only slightly more extreme than some of the stuff we've seen going on in the real world.
This is a fake series with a manufactured outcome, stop pretending like it was some authentic social experiment that occurred in the past. Of course for the sake of the story it won’t work, it’s never been tried to say it won’t work for sure is asinine.
My main issue with the purge franchise is that the whole reason why the purge is accepted is because crime and poverty are at an all time low, and majority of people are employed. Yet you’ll see through the films that the majority of people still seem poor and struggling. I think it would be a more compelling film if you saw people who were still benefiting from success of the results of the purge, but learned that the purge is wrong and they break down the political system and fight back.
