      No doubt he was Turkic. He was the ruler of the Western wing of the European Hunnic state as we call "Yabgu" with other words. We know the Huns were a Turkic state since their language was Turkic. So were the customs and traditions. Also the scripts of the Chinese about the first Turkic Khaganate state that the Turks are the same nation as Huns. You can search for the scripts on internet

    The main theme is absolutely amazing. It truly does give out a bone-chilling, sinister, apocalyptic, war-like feel to it. This truly defines the megalomaniac, sadist, and tyrannical personality of Atilla. The Morin-Khuur, and the throat singing (Kargyraa, Khöömii, and Sygyt) that are added to it makes this soundtrack more beautifully authentic.

    • @Not-Ap
      @Not-Ap Před 2 lety +2

      That's what happens when your surrounded by enemies on all sides. China had the Himalayas as a buffer. Rome only has it's armies. If they failed it failed and eventually they did fail. So yes I imagine it was very bleak at this time and uncertain unless you were living in say Egypt, Cypress or the Agean Sea.

    • @TheDirtysouthfan
      @TheDirtysouthfan Před rokem +3

      @@Not-Ap Rome had plenty of barriers and freedom to create natural defenses. They used lots of rivers from the Danube to the Rhine, along with the Alps. The issue was more Rome being unable to create sustainable reforms. Rome lost lots of men because Legions were fighting in Civil Wars. People didn't want to join the Legions anymore because they would likely fight in a civil war, rather than a war in another country where they'd make a lot of riches form looting. Almost every major disaster you can find was happening simultanous to another one. When the Visigoths sacked Rome, the Emperor was also dealing with an usurper in Gaul/Britain who in turn had another one of his followers revolt against him. The Emperor in turn was waiting for the allied Hun King to bring reinforcements (this was before Attila). What ended up happening was that the only people left who wanted to fight were barbarian auxilaries, who gradually made up more and more of the military until they were pretty much the only ones left taking up every rank up to Magister Militum, some even became Emperors. The Eastern Emperor at the time of the fall of the WRE was himself a barbarian. Given that even the native Romans were treacherous, having another layer of barbarians made things more volatile.
      The next issue was due to the fear of uprisings, ordinary people weren't allowed to have weapons and defend themselves. Many Romans found slavery under Barbarians more tolerable than freedom in Rome. Many Barbarians found willing allies among the slaves and lower classes of the Roman Empire.
      China didn't have protection against foreign invaders either, in fact many Steppe Empires invaded China and founded their own dynasties. The Liao, Jin, Yuan and Qing dynasties were all dynasties founded by tribes from the north of China. The Forbidden City was so because the Jin Dynasty practiced their ancestral traditions within its walls outside of Han eyes. Part of it was just a question of how willing they were to accept outsiders as part of them. The Barbarians who settled in the WRE were very Romanized. They were Christian, many had grown up as hostages in Roman Courts and understood the culture, hell I think it's debatable whether Odoacer was a "Barbarian Chieftan" as he was likely just part of the WRE's military and just usurped the Emperor. When the Ostrogoths took over Italy, they levied taxes and maintained the infrastructure. The Roman Senate had a resurgence in its power and influence under the Ostrogoths. It wasn't until the return of Roman rule, and later Lombard invasion, where the ancient Roman laws and infrastructure was destroyed. In short it was possible for the Romans to just accept the Barbarians as one of them and you could have had another WRE with the kingdoms unified, in theory.

    I have but one question, - I've gone through the entire playlist but couldn't find this one track. In fact, I've never managed to find this track online, which prompted me to ask on here.
    The track plays in the game somewhat rarely. It is a Roman battle intro theme (i.e. plays in the beginning of a battle) when you are fighting against the Huns.
    The track stands out because it features female vocals in style very close to the Rome II's credits track. The type of singing strongly resembles a mix "keening" and "ululation".

      @@reizhu3318 By the way, I'm not sure if the song I was referring to plays in custom battles, - I only ever played campaign so that's where I encountered the song.
      "Intro music" is the kind of music that plays after you click the "Start Battle" button to finish the battle deployment stage. This kind of music is very distinct, and not to be confused with the marching or ambient music.
      Do custom battles have "intro music"? I don't think they do, do they? If they don't, then the only way to hear the song is to play the campaign.
      This is how I discovered the song. I played as the West Rome. I got in battle against the Huns, clicked the "Start Battle" icon, and the song played. Because there are a few variations of intro songs, it may take a few battles before you hear it.
