Man i used to, at least as a kid, think that the braced crossman whrist rockets were as good as it gets. Since practicing with a oculus i couldn't tell you how wrong i was. There's a lot of great and very informative videos here for practice accuracy, and practical effectiveness. To be fair myselfe (like a lot of people out there) vastly underscored what you could do with a good quality slingshot and practice. Just because something pulls hard, doesn't mean it throws hard and even a fast shot that misses does nothing.
I've had my oculus for about three years now and haven't looked back. I use medium bands even though you have the option for tubes and other options I've done more than well enough with the stock medium bands.
Now, yes practice is the upmost of importance but the way i feel now (definitely not the expert though) is that the closer you get to centered and relaxed the best your going to do where it matters; making a shot actually hit the intended target where you intend to.

Slingshot noob with a few questions
Which bands do you recommend for a slingshot rifle, for speed & power, flat or tubes?.
I know all professionals use flat bands with small handheld slingshots. But as you said, flat bands have less pull weight, thus producs a steadier hand thus geater accuracy. But that variable becomes irrelevant when using a slingshot rifle.
So, all variables being equal (hand steadiness, ammo weight etc) , which bands ultimately provide the most speed?
Are flat bands faster per se (using standard slingshot ammo) because of their design shape and size?
Or would using spear gun rubber produce more speed with a slingshot rifle?

I suggest trying a few different tapers and latex options to see what works best for you. We do not carry any slingshot rifles. Flat band latex retracts more quickly than tubes do so they should give you a better speed. Tubes are best used with very heaver ammo such as arrows or spears from a spear gun.

Ok thanks. I might try a slingshot rifle that has 3-4 flat bands on each side and see how that works.

How should I determine the width of my bands from end to end?
    Austin Wyrick, Oklahoma City, Ok
I don't rally know how this whole question asking thing works but there is my submission.

You will just want to play with different tapers to see what gives you the performance you are after. You can adjust for speed or a lighter draw weight.
The Ask SimpleShot Season 5 is done recording already.

    150 yards?

Yes, it is up to the shooter. There are many videos of soda can hits at 100 yards here on YT.
