  • Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving are both ALL-TIME talents. I don’t think anyone in their right mind would deny that. But, their playing styles have really affected the path of their careers. While Kyrie is a perennial All-Star and NBA Champion, he hadn’t reached that same level of individual achievement as Steph. We’ll show you why Steph’s ability to score more EFFICIENTLY & with less energy has led to his success. Make sure to leave a COMMENT/SUBSCRIBE! 🔬

    • @YankeeD23
      @YankeeD23 Před 5 lety +136

      True, but the systems each of them play in are different.
      Steph's teammates are more willing to pass Steph the ball not only because he's a prolific scorer, but that Steph has far more experienced and talented teammates around him that can get him good looks. He'll get screen after screen, and then another screen before he has just enough space to shoot. Also when Klay and/or KD are on the floor it takes a lot of pressure off of Steph because defenders are less likely to double team him because then they'd most likely be leaving Klay or KD wide open somewhere. The Warriors system is just insanely proficient which is the reason they succeed. Both on a collective and individual levels.
      Where as Kyrie is pretty much the only guy on his team, possibly other than Tatum that can regularly create his own shot. The Celtics have good ball movement, but when Kyrie and his teammates aren't putting in the extra effort, especially effectively (not setting additional screens for example), they force bad shots or just move the ball around until they are forced to shoot it due to the shot clock. Plus when Kyrie has to dribble so much to score, going iso, it restrains the flow of their particular offense.
      Kyrie does make it look hard due to the system that he is in, but that's how he plays and he's pretty damn good at it. What many people do not realize is that Kyrie is not in as good of condition as he should be, or should I say needs to be.

      Derek Lowery: I wasn't saying why, just that it's true.
      But you said that they each play in different systems. I think it's more that the systems are designed for the players they have. The Celtics played their system because that's how Kyrie wants to play or insists on playing. Completely different mindsets. The Warriors mindset is "Strength In Numbers" and Kyrie's is "Strength In Me".

Kyrie thrives in a more ball dominant offense where as Steph thrives in one where they move the ball more & look for the best shot. And almost 90% of mid range shots will be contested. Kyrie is one of those very few players capable of doing this. Not very many guards in the league shoot the middy like Kyrie. Usually larger sf and sg's like kd, derozan, dbook and Middleton shoot it cause it's easier for them. Everyone is always moving to create a good look for each other/shooters.

It’s efficient and does just enough damage with at least half the energy.

Mark Jackson was using him more like a traditional PG & expect him to run the entire offense (like CP3). It helps Steph that his entire team is built to maximize his talent. The team is full of great shooters (Klay, KD), passers (Green, Iggy), and athletic finishers/cutters (all the Hamptons 5) that open up Curry's entire game.
