  • We show you How to plug a tyre while on or off-road with a plugging kit. (How to plug a tire, 4x4 off-road) While we were out filming for something else we discovered a screw had made its way into the Jeeps front passenger tyre, the head was snapped off so using a cordless drill to extract was not an option and the old pliers came in handy.

    I like studying the various vids for tips on what might go wrong. Learned heaps here. Now you've got me thinking that I'll need to check my repair kit to see if there's lubricant and a sharp blade. Thank you.

    Good vid Ronny, a lot of guys carry this kit with them but have no idea how to use it. This is a good one for some of my mates to watch.

    I've always used rubber cement as lube. It's slippery at first and helps adhere the plug to the tire after. Might not be correct but it's what I do.

    • @Mylifelovingit
      @Mylifelovingit Před 6 lety +1

      The kits that they sell here in South Africa all have rubber cement with them and no "lube" as such. So what you are doing must be an acceptable method

    I will use a cigarette lighter to burn the ends down after trimming. Helps keep the plug low profile, less likely to get snagged by something and get pulled out on the trail.

    Tried to plug mine the other day. Not as easy as it looks. Next time I’ll Romberg to lube the plug as well. It was a b-tch getting it in. Didn’t hold. Had to get the spare out.

    What type of lubricant is it that you use for the hole cleaner etc?

    • @Ronny_Dahl
      @Ronny_Dahl  Před 8 lety

      +Johann Blaauw not 100% but seems like its a vaseline substance of some sort.

    • @GF-gz9wk
      @GF-gz9wk Před 6 lety

      Won't petroleum-based vaseline break down the rubber of the tyre. The same reason one should not use vaseline on condoms. Or so I've been told....

    How is your 79 going with the chip ?
    Is the $$ worth it ?
    Thanks Chris

    • @Ronny_Dahl
      @Ronny_Dahl  Před 10 lety

      Thanks Chris, yeah the chip is one of my favourite mods so far. Putting the bigger rubber on the 79 the chip brings back to lost power and more. Actually using less diesel. Once I get my 3rd tune installed will do a comparo video with the chip and fuel eco.
