We didn’t “Move on”, Kenny quit. Plain and simple.
Coach T says it best VOLUNTEERS NOT HOSTAGES.
Kennys hands quit at the age of 10
@@Richardbeater😂😂😂😂
he quit because they brought in Russ and fields they planned to do it still with him being on the team he didn’t wanna be number 3 he requested a trade when he found out
And let's be real. As much as we all loved what Mason did last year, he's not a starter.
Starting vids with a 2 and half minute ad is wild
Kenny was also cooking during pre season last year and we all remember how that turned out.
Deke still dying inside seeing kenny in another team jersey
If deke had it his way, Big Ben would still be the QB
😂😂😂😂
No.
He was an injury prone cry baby who lost the locker room. The Steelers made the right move
No, it was a bad qb class to begin with, and kenny was a project at best. Plus, his attitude was immature
It's incredibly poetic that Kenny needed to be handled with kid gloves to not cry like an infant when the only gloves that fit him are indeed kid gloves.
What are kid gloves?
U mean football gloves haha. Ben wore gloves as well
No Kenny moved on from the Steelers because he didn't want to compete for qb1
Mason would have crushed KP#08
nah, we good.
Mason Rudolph showed us that the issue wasn't necessarily the offensive coordinator. Mason came in and played well, but the only problem with Mason Rudolph was that he couldn't lead the team when he was the starter. Kenny could not step up and deliver on consistent bases. Pittsburgh had to take risks and go all out, and I'm glad they did!!! The Steelers are in a good position now. Let's see how Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph perform on their respective teams.
Didn't Kenny move on from us.
He requested a trade
No we moved on by signing Russel Wilson so he requested a trade because he was told Russ was getting first crack with the 1s. We did him dirty by keeping the worst OC ever and old as hell washed up QB coach and expecting him to be great. We have a super young QB coach this season and a legit OC we should have kept him as qb
@@americanassassin001 he requested a trade
Sirs look, I have followed this team from 1971 til now and no matter what you two say or feel..this team has ALWAYS been a Blue Collar team. When you start THINKING you are more important than the team money wise and statue wise...it is time to go. Pickett acted like the Steelers OWED him some suoer RESPECT because he was a #1 Draft pick....PLEASE! He stunk in college and stunk here. It was time for him to go!!!
Yes he stunk here.
He was consistently missing receivers 5-10 yds away terrible footwork & SAWFT
Sound like Steeler nation got regrets. Not me , as long as we got Coach T, we good!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
A coach T nutball! Why don't
I wanted to see Kenny in Smith's system until he frowned in the face of adversity. I lost so much respect for him after he refused to compete. The only QB worth keeping after that tantrum was Mason. I've seen reports that he's competing against Malik Willis for the 2 spot in Tennessee, but I think he'll be competing with Will Levis for the 1 spot by the end of camp. Pickett is an offseason/preseason super hero, but I'm not holding my breath unless he pops off in a regular season game.
"in A game"
😂😂😂
Consistently in the NFL is how he must play to earn any credit
I think Kenny made the decision more than we did to move on. No hostages.
It wasn't even Kenny's fault that Tomlin kept Canada around, and in turn, Canada continued to NOT develop any of the talent he had at his disposal. This was way bigger than just Kenny not developing. This was a waste of player development and time of valuable resources given.
While Canada was arguably the worst OC in history, he had absolutely nothing to do with this dude missing wide open receivers all year long. The OC has nothing to do with him underthrowing Calvin Austin, matched up on a linebacker, with no help over top. He missed way too many wide open receivers to completely give him a pass because of Canada.
@@arosssr757 - I wasn't a fan of drafting any QB from that class, however, the OC has a ton to do with the QB performance. Admittedly, Canada didn't meet much with KP meaning there was no back and forth of what the QB likes and is comfortable with. Per the accuracy, comfortability in the pocket had a good amount to do with that and I'd put more blame on not having an OL that can be trusted--when the OL can't be trusted, the QB often feels rushed even when there is plenty of time.
Keeping Canada into the 2023 season was a huge mistake.
2:40 second ad? Get ya bread but bruh 😂
Who cares????? He didn't have the dawg in him to stay! Nobody wants a player that's scared of competition....
Let's stop beating a dead horse kenny didn't pass the eye test too many times he never throw down field when windows were their immediately when mason took over all if our jaws dropped he was threading the needle and dropping significantly better down field throws bye bye kp8 😅
It's Mason we should have kept not cry baby.
Exactly lol
Nah, I do agree that he had a raw deal as far as the state of the team but bringing in Wilson for competition wasn’t a bad move. If that was the straw that broke Kenny’s back and he wanted to move on because he couldn’t handle the competition then best wishes to him 🤷🏼♂️.
Nah Kenny Quit. He had an issue when Mason, took over and was balling out. He saw his future in danger
Turn the question around: what did Kenny show that would convince you that the Steelers should've kept him, irrespective of his response to signing Wilson?
It's obvious there were some behind the scene issues with Pickett. I never believed he had the right mentality for the Pittsburgh QB position. After his rookie season, Kenny was asked if he felt that he was a Pittsburgh guy now, and he replied, "I'll always be a jersey guy." That said it all for me. Big Ben felt betrayed by Ohio when Cleveland passed on him in the draft and came to Pittsburgh with the mentality that he will make them regret it and he did.
No hostages no quitters lastly he didn't want too compete for his job...
I compete everyday for mines...
Everyone competes for something....
Pickett came out as one of those low ceiling high floor guys that unfortunately was also an older prospect that wasn’t pegged to grow that much from the jump
Tiny Hampburger Helper Hands Man also had a bangin' ass OTA AND preseason last year & what the phuck did that get our squad, huh?!?!?!
I have always wanted to ask. how do you and deke know each other?
My grandma looks good in OTAs
9 min video with a 2:30 min ad read is definitely, something.
Kenny coward away from competition.
To me there should be more of a open competition vs Fields and Wilson than there ever should/could have been vs Pickett and Wilson.
Pickett didn't earn anything and wanted everything handed on a golden diamond plated platter.
I liked Kenny, but looking back Kenny is a punk and didn't want to prove himself, so now he can be a backup in Philly. We don't need him and there will be a day he regrets the decision where he overreacted.
NOBODY ON THAT ROSTER WANTED LENNY BACK
I think he knew this.
Guys remember Kenny looked great in camp and pre-season last year too. Also I woulda kept Kenny along with brining in Russ, but he didnt want to compete soooo DEUCES!!
Damn I thought we were done wit Pickett 😂
He didn't want to be there. Not even a question. How many times have we all heard. Volunteers not hostages ! If they want out , put them out !
Of course, Kenny looks good in pre-season he was perfect in the last one here, it was just when the season started his accuracy took a big drop. he got better but they were baby steps till the injury. it was time to move on anyway him and Canada were a bad combo together and he has two concussions already. good luck to you but we are good
Steelers don’t give up on Pickett, Pickett gave up on the Steelers. Started crying when they signed Wilson, instead of using him as a mentor to learn and grow and compete, he demands to be traded.
Deke is being too nice.. the first time Justin Fields scrambles around and throws rocket during preseason would be the day when Pittsburgh fell in love with Fields over Pickett.
Kenny and Justin aren’t in the same category
Kenny shouldn't have quit. He should've waited his turn, just like Ben did.
Canada was already on the hot seat, so Kenny should've relaxed.
But to be honest, he saw Mason BURIED and didn't want the same fate.
This, again, was Tomlin's problem. He's terrible at personnel management. Canada and Haley stayed YEARS longer than they should've.
The qb room got significantly better once he left 😂
Dude was scared to compete against Russ. End of story
come on man.. Kenny balled out in OTA with us last year and had a great pre season. When the regular season started the bottom floor fell out and he became a dumpster fire. OTA's is in shorts and you cant base he is balling out in shirts and shorts. Put the Pads on and see how he does.
Kenny's performance was bench-worthy which is where players who need as much growth as he does belongs. Kenny showed improvement in the interception area, but in doing so he threw for 400+ less yards and less touchdowns than his year prior. He went 7 out of 12 games without a single touchdown and he had DJ, GP, JW, CAIII, and Pat. His performance regressed from the previous year...which means he showed no growth in the areas the Steelers needed him to show growth in (touchdowns). Kenny's QBR dropped 15.5 points. No one cares if you can play great in the 4th quarter if you suck for three (3) quarters against lame teams. When Mason got the rock he dominated from the very beginning by getting the lead and extending the lead.
Deke...it's not the injuries. Kenny is not that good. He is, however, a legit game manager. Someone you bring in late after you have sealed the victory or your team is getting smashed really bad and you want to give your 1's a break. Which is why Mitch is a permanent backup. Nothing wrong with being a backup. Lots of players have made a living as career backups. I just hate that we wasted a #1 pick on him thinking we outsmarted 19 other teams. 😂
We had to bring in some QBs to fill the room. I guess Kenny thought Omar Khan was going to bring back Dennis Dixon and Bubby Brister to compete. Kenny is way out of touch to think that he would last as the starter and that the Steelers would accept his dismal performances. Deke don't forget that we won most of our games because of how well our defense played and because of Jaylen & Najee...not Kenny. Kenny was a liability...not an asset. In my heart of hearts, I think Kenny believes his luck had run out and that he knows deep down that he's not a starter. Otherwise, he would've either stayed or went to a team that didn't have a proven QB1.
The reason Mason isn't still in Pittsburgh is because he knows he's always been better than Kenny and he has already dealt with the outcome of the coaches decision. He was NOT going to go through that scenario again and the only way to know that Steelers would not snub him again, would be to "Show him the money!" This would mean the Steelers are serious about Mason's capabilities and not just throwing peanuts to watch him compete against lesser competition in Kenny Pickett. Sad the way they treated Mason and now Justin may go through what Mason went through his first couple years with Ben.
Enough about Kenny!
If you can’t move a safety with a pump fake because your hands are tiny, then forget playing QB in the NFL. His arm strength is subpar at best. If you do not have a great arm, then you better be extremely accurate. He isn’t.
Moving on from him was a wise choice. Pickett was a third rounder at best. Colbert reached big time.
The Steelers only drafted Kenny because they severely regretted not drafting hometown Pitt QB Dan Marino.
Skip to 2:39 to avoid the ad
We good on Kenny
Not missing kenny
I got a feeling Kenny is starting that game in Philly
Bro I’m tired of this narrative. Kenny spent 5+ years in college drafted 1st rd was supposed to be “pro ready” and in 2 seasons had 13td and 13 int. I don’t care who you are that’s not good enough smh
Russ could have a big game and throw 4 TD in one game , Kenny threw 4 all year
You Know I find it Funny that Kenny Bailed instead of competiting BUT I Also BELIEVED that both Ben and Mike Tomlin Seen a Crack in Kenny's Amour and wanted to see if he could raise his level. Blame Canada All You Want BUT What would that Offense Look Like if Mason Started the Season instead of Mitch or Kenny and Kenny sat a Year.. Funny How Ben knew something with Kenny
Took to long to move on
I thought Kenny was smart but he went from playing behind an old quarterback who could be possibly washed up, could get hurt (age is a factor there), and at the very least from whom he could have learned a lot, to “competing” with Jalen Hurts. And he did this just when he finally would have gotten a real OC, or at least not the worst one in the NFL.
And he was looking at possibly playing behind a beefed up offensive line and play action with a good run game.
He could hit every single throw perfectly in OTAs with twice the velocity he had in Pittsburgh and there’s zero chance he starts over Hurts in Philadelphia.
Zero
What were they supposed to do? Make him stay where he obviously didn’t want to be? That’s some weird ish. If you don’t want to be here then they will accommodate you. Volunteers, not hostage’s. Nuff said…
Kenny was a dud with an inflated ego. Deadly combination. So happy to see him go. I just wish I hadn’t invested in his sports cards! 💸💸💸💸💸
No he didn’t leave us first, we took his job while injured.
Holy cow. That was a 3 min commercial 😴
He was threatened by the signing of Russ, he didn’t want to compete so he wanted out🤷🏽♂️ We don’t want someone who doesn’t want to compete 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2 seasons.. ZERO multiple touchdowns games.. statistically one of the worst offenses in the league. Just watching the game you can tell he’s more of a backup than starter in the league
That's just as bad as Eli throwing a fit and not want to play for the chargers he's lucky to get drafted overall number one
I don't think it was too soon. Pickett failed at his job. Worse, he thought he was entitled to be starting QB.
I don't want to hear anything about Kenny and the off-season/pre-season😅 He had everyone hyped in the pre-season last year looking amazing against some basic vanilla defenses, some 2nd stringers, etc.. Then started the year and looked NOTHING like he did in the pre-season. Kenny just isn't an elite starting QB🤷♂️ He can be an elite backup QB, but I don't think he will ever be an elite starting QB in the league. I hope I am wrong and Kenny does great if he gets the chance to start again. But I think I have a way better chance of being correct😅
It was quite obvious after last season that Kenny didn’t belong in Pittsburgh. He’s not good enough
Canada can’t throw the ball for picket or make him not spin into sacks.
How fast can you say no?
Shouldn't have drafted him, just because he played at Pitt don't mean anything
No! Because the Steelers should’ve never drafted Kenny in the first place.
Yall forget they won 2 super bowls with average qb play, that could make a play every now and than big ben didnt even play good the first super bowl and won and the second one he didnt play so good either and thats my point Kenny’s best was no where near as good as big ben in his first 5 years
Kenny wanted to go to a team where he could be the starter, so he goes to Philly where Hurts is the QB. He wont see any play time. Kenny is not a decent QB. Hes a 3rd string at this point. Russ had more TD throws last year then the whole QB room for Pittsburgh.
Then why wasn’t Canada dumped sooner?
Moats must be bored or no news out there for Kenny to come up again
Too soon yea prolly but didn’t he request the trade?
We STILL talking about this guy??? Yall are depressing....
Personally speaking, I don't see how that question could be answerable. None of us were in that room when Kenny put his foot down. What did he say to get booted? If I was him I would have said something myself. You want guys to defend themselves and their work. He very well could have gone overboard. I don't know what Khan's threshold is. Khan seems very affable, but for him to pull the trigger on a trade and make the statement he did says to all of us that a line was crossed. If I were to guess he probably trashed the decision to sign Russ in such a way that it was viewed as an insult to Khan doing his duties. I think Kenny has ability, but two things stick out in my mind that hampered him. Decision making and accuracy. So if he did go overboard in how the average fan would view it as if we had been party to the argument. I think its safe to say that his accuracy might have been improved, but his decision making is chronic.
Very fair take about the what the conversation actually looked like--we don't know.
Kenny didnt have what it takes to be a Steeler. He QUIT. He hid from competition. He didnt have enough spine to stand up let alone lead.
No he just did'nt have enough talent.
Kenny is a quitter. Plus his arm sucks
I can't believe this your topic for today ?
Listen I said I would never comment on k p again.doesnt matter what system he's in he's not an NFL QB.from durability to accuracy to mechanics.let it go.
Hell yeah they did ! The last couple of yrs the player development was atrocious look at the guys that are gone !! And number 2 the whole damn offense was set up to fail with Matt Canada calling plays ! Kenny will ball out in Philly when he gets a chance u watch and see there’s already reports he looks better than Jalen
Kenny who?
Move on .. Kenny just didn’t materialize.
DONT GET DEKE STARTED UP FAM😅😅😅
We definitely moved on too early. He should have been given the start as soon as he was healthy last year. Not giving him the start was a vote of no confidence which Kenny didn’t deserve. He was much better under the worst OC of all time than either Mitch or Mason were. We moved on from him in week 16, and we shouldn’t have. We blew it.
And don’t listen to any Steelers fan who disagrees with this if they thought Malik Willis was a better QB coming out of college.
Moved on from Mason too soon!
Let’s all be happy that deke is NOT the GM of the Steelers 😂
At his age his hands have stopped growing, time to move on from "I am Just Ken."
KP and. Mason were both mismanaged by the coaches. if you communicate with KP what to expect and that he would have been the QB w=eventually he probably would not have wanted out. this falls on the coaches. so he goes on to ball out n has nfl career the egg is on our face.
Kenny was bad. You guys are high. Why you think the receivers quit running on plays etc. Kenny was fracking horrible. Worse QB in NFL history.
Is everyone gonna continue to do this Kenny has always been good in otas and preseason but when it comes down to real games he sucks
Yes the spoiled fans didn't give him time to develop
They did move on too soon, crap protection and a shit OC he never had a chance…
All this kenny mess makes me laugh he was always good in practice and training camp no rush but in a real game he loses it.
No. He quit.
We screwed over Kenny Pickett so bad I'm glad he wanted out of Pittsburgh. The way we treated him with Matt Canada and expected him to be Ben Roethlisberger right away was just crazy. I would want to get off the Steelers team immediately
What about Mason who had the longest Tenure under Canada, Made Kenny look like the horrible Qb he was.
Kenny wanted out because he isn't beating anyone for a #1 Qb spot. Save the embarrassment as a 1st round bust, And ran elsewhere to be a backup.
Kenny lovers want to Blame Canada for Kenny's horrible play, But there was a lot that had nothing to do with Canada. Kenny just sucked.
I blame the Steelers organization for way over drafting a Qb with only 1 good year of college play. Over the duration, He wasn't a good college Qb either.
Still talking about him?! Smh.
If kenny didn't want to be here its his loss not Pittsburghs .he had his chance and failed
Kenny sucks🤣🤣🤣🤣
