- Come with us from Bangkok to Hua Hin, Thailand! After a complete failure of a morning and lack of planning on our behalf, we managed to pull it together and take the 3 hour train the following day. We departed on time at 0730 from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, arriving in Hua Hin at 1030 with a few stops along the way. We give you a brief hotel tour (highly recommend our accommodation by the way!), check out the main beach for a refreshing dip in the ocean and enjoy dinner at the local night market.
We hope you enjoy the video! ~Kristy & Steve

On the cheaper third-class train that you did not take I am absolutely sure you would have been comfortable I need air conditioning as well but one time I got stuck having to take the third class train and I was very very pleasantly surprised because all the windows are down in this train you got so much Breeze it's very very comfortable I think you would have been pleasantly surprised
Oh thats good to know! Its also very helpful to those reading these comments to be assured the non air-con is still comfortable. Im going to pin your comment. Thanks for the info!
Yeah, no.
Totally agree. I've made a couple long trips in 3rd. class, windows fully open, no freezing a/c, beautiful landscapes and... Just relax, enjoy and experience real Thailand!
That is right. We always feel good in beach town. It is fantastic atmosphere and relax.
Absolutely agree with you! ☺️
Another great video guys!!...Thanks
Heya Paul. Thank you so much, we are glad you liked it - was a rollercoaster to film thats for sure! ❤️
The coconut pancake is called Baa Bin Muang (Purple). Made from purple sweet potato, coconut milk and sugar. It is a type of pancake that is cooked in a hot pan. The purple sweet potato gives the pancake a beautiful purple color and a slightly sweet and nutty flavor. While Baa Bin, the golden brown version, made from coconut milk, rice flour, and sugar. 😘
Oohhh that makes sense! Thank you so much, appreciate this information- now we know what we are actually eating haha ☺️
In coconut pancake we doesn't made form mon muang (purple) but we made it from rice (call riceberry)
Thank you ☺️
Correct answer Steve 👍.
When your woman asks " what are we going to do ?"
"We're gonna have a beer " every time 😂.
Great fun 😂 Ginormous !🙏
He had that singha ready to go to! 🤣 Haha cheers Patrick!
If you insist on Air Con you will have this problem, the non air con train is actually far more fun. Yes it stops everywhere but when it does you have street food vendors hop on selling you all kinds of great treats and it is a great cheap experience. I am fairly sure you can go from the old Thonburi Station too and I have never had to book while for the Air Con trains you definitely do have to book
Hey Chris! Thanks for watching and for the info. Yes lesson definitely learnt regarding the need to pre-book the aircon train 😅
I love how you show the real experience 🚂 , not just a insta / perfect view of your travels. Looking forward to your next upload as always 👍👏🏻😃
Heya Adz! Oh it definitely was a rollercoaster to film this video 🤣 all ended up working out though, thank goodness. Thanks so much, see you next week from Hua Hin!
It felt good to see your travel story as similar a movie. Hope all of you enjoy to travel in several places of Thailand. I will spend my time at least 1 hour or more to learn your traveling experiences. Take care both of you.
Thank you so much! ❤️
In the future, this station (Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Railway Station) use both distance and high-speed trains to cover every region in Thailand.
Great idea!
If you prioritized a budget-friendly transportation option or preferred air-conditioned travel, you could have simply headed straight to Ekkamai bus station. There, you'd find hourly departures of air-conditioned minivans to Hua Hin for just $6 each. Instead, opting for Grab taxis has likely cost you more than 500 baht and caused unnecessary frustration shuttling back and forth aimlessly. What a missed opportunity...
Thank you for this information! We will keep in mind next time we travel to Hua Hin - very helpful, we appreciate it! 🙏
@@KristyandSteve most welcome... could inform your significant other, who has zero tolerance for spicy food... the further south you head in Thailand the spicier almost all local dishes will get...sometimes even inedible... 😂stick to fried rice and seafood on the islands. Happy Travels!
Can you get a bus to Kanchanaburi/Kwai from Ekkamai bus station? Thanks
4:22 not for now. Yes, but it had to, for Thailand's future Highspeed Rail ambition. There's one being built right now. If you go a little more North of Bangkok, into Pathum Thani province, you'll see many concrete pillars being erected for the train track. The station's built to future-proof every future Rail lines.
Makes sense, thanks for the info! ☺️
Yes, into my region first, the Northeast. It will open up Isan to so many opportunities. Very much looking forward to it.
Just found your channel guys and it's proving to be really helpful in planning my trip. I'm solo travelling Thailand soon and I'm gonna binge your content for tips. Thank you!
Hey Samuel! Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed this video ☺️ Have the BEST time on your trip, Thailand is a brilliant country to solo travel
Can I ask, if you are extending your stay by a month, what did you do about flights? When you got to Thailand did you have to show the airline or immigration your leaving flights or did you just tell them you were planning to extend your stay? Thank you 🙏
Hello! We did a 30 day VISA extension. We didnt have outgoing flights booked as we knew we were doing the extension. Didnt have to show anyone proof of outward flight , was a pretty simple and straightforward process. Thats not to say you wont be asked for proof of onward flight though, its a risk!
Thank you for watching! ☺️
So nice to see an Aussie couple who aren't stereotypical bogans. Loved the video. Will subscribe.
Haha look we have our moments! 🤣 Thank you for watching!
Woo great advice I’ve trip to Thailand coming early May. Was plan take the AC train from BKK - HAU HIN to ask I to arrive BKK 5.30am 1st MAY. Does the Train operate daily or hit & Miss
I read that in the future that train will go from Vietnam - BKKK - Hau Hin onward KUL - SIN
Hi Anthony! Glad you liked the video. Not too sure if the AC train goes from Bangkok to Hua Hin everyday. Check 12go. Asia website for more information. Have a great time and thanks for watching! ☺️
So what was the travel time? Usually they only arrive on time if there happens to be a daylight savings clock shift.
Haha! 3 hours as scheduled. We were impressed
I've travelled on that 3rd class train (with a fully laden suitcase and rucksack) and had a wonderful journey. It was one of the most pleasant and charming experiences I've had (among many in Thailand) chatting to Thai's and making friends and tasting the different foods that where offered by vendors who boarded at stops along the route. I often reminisce about that journey and would advise anyone who is thinking about going to Hua Hin, or anywhere in Thailand for that matter, to give it a try if you have the time and would like to experience something of the 'real Thailand'. Anyway, enjoy your time in Hua Hin, I'm glad you made it safely, it's simply a nice seaside town with a lovely feel and I love it it here. The beaches a little further south really start getting better. I have no idea what your schedule is but there are quite few interesting places to explore around the area, may I recommend Sam Roi Yot a few kilometres south and allow a couple days to do it justice as it's a big national park.
Hello David! Glad to hear you had a wonderful experience on the train. Honestly, if it were a little cooler, maybe not 41 degrees we would have just taken it to get to our destination quicker. Appreciate the suggestions and you taking the time to comment, thank you 🙏
@KristyandSteve I actually fully understand your decision, and in future for ease I would probably choose the fast train. But I wouldn't rule the alternative train out completely. Happy and safe travels. Just enjoyed watching your BKK videos, too.
Thanks David, we appreciate that! ☺️
You can use new station. Because railway to Huahin (South Route) extend from 1 railway track to 2 railway tracks and open since December 2023.
Thanks for this information ☺️
What is the time do I needs to be there before the Train departure from the station to Hua Hin? Do I need to go through any custom check there before boarding the Train?
Hello! I would arrive to the station 20 minutes before your scheduled train time. No customs as its all within Thailand. Thanks for watching! ☺️
@@KristyandSteve Thank you I am traveling from Bangkok to Hua Hin soon. Have a nice day ahead.
Thank you so much, you have a nice day to - enjoy Hua Hin! 🤗
I've done the slow train its great windows down its pleasant and lots of vendors get on to keep you fed and watered , the price is also a big plus
Yes it was very affordable! We would have taken the longer train if it wasnt 43 degrees 🥵
Research will only get you so far. Just always book everything ahead. Yes, train tickets online will cost an extra 100 baht, but it's so much better than travel frustrations. That said, no matter how much you plan, things will go wrong. That's part of the adventure. I've been traveling all over Asia since 1997, and you're doing fine.
Hi Randolph! You are so right. We definitely learnt our lesson and will stick to pre-booking what we can, early!
Thanks for watching ☺️
Super video guys. 😊❤
Thanks Garry! 🥰
@@KristyandSteve found your Channel this Arvo. 👍💪 It's Gold. Gonna watch more of yours now. Curious as to where you guys are travelling through now.
Thanks very much, Garry! Glad you're enjoying the vlogs ☺️ We are currently back home in Melbourne, working full time while we figure out our next move. We've been travelling full time for 2 years and it was time to come home for awhile 🥰
@@KristyandSteve we also live in Melbourne.
Happy to compare notes. Been to Bali 16 times. Nusa Dua, Ubud, Seminyak, Nusa Lembongen, Legian area etc. Also Thailand 12 times. Pattaya, Rawai, Patong, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Bangkok etc
Did you have to pay for the first night at the hotel, as you were a day late?
Hi Jay! No, the hotel just moved our dates as we stayed an extra night at the end.
The station is big and has 24 platforms. 12 on the second floor, 4 for north and northeast routes, 4 for southern routes, 4 for the commuter trains. The third floor is closed for now, but will be for eastern (underconstruction), northern, northeastern (underconstruction), and southern HSR.
Ahhh ok thanks for this information. Its very grand isnt it!
I've ridden the non airconditioned carts a lot and they're fine as long as you dont get a seat in the sun at mid day 🤣. Train is a lot better now after they built a second track down to hua hin. before it could take up to 8hours and always delayed for hours.
Yeah we would have just taken the non aircon train if it wasnt above 40 degrees and in the middle of the day 🥵 We felt we made the right decision and were able to enjoy a full day in Hua Hin when we arrived at 10:30am ☺️
I'm like you guys, i love Bangkok, but as you said,Hua Hin is abit sleepy and slow paced, and a really nice place to go to if you want a little bit of everything.
A place a can recommend to stay at is Fulay Guest House if you plan to extend your stay, or come back to Hua Hin. It is pretty close from where you're staying now, it is built on one of the piers and it is a really peaceful place
Completely agree, its such a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok - although we absolutely love the city, Hua Hin was the perfect getaway! Thanks for the guest house recommendation, we'll keep in mind for next time ☺️
Stevo, oyster omlete! Bro phuk that's brave. Love optimism. I might try Hua Hin before Kata next year. 5 days maybe
Highly recommend Hua Hin mate! 5 days is plenty long enough
Great video, in Hua Hin I recommend trying the food at the Osaka octopus stall in the night market (you can see it in the video)
Thanks for the suggestion, we'll keep in mind next time we're in Hua Hin ☺️
The new train station in hua hin opened in mid-December.
You have made an excellent choice to book a room at thipurai City Hotel.
I have stayed there 2 times.
You shall try to go to Mp restaurant, almost across the street from the hotel.
Fantastic food and people there, say hi from me 😊😊😊 if you are into massage, then you shall go to Roayl thai massage, fantastic massage there. Say hi from me there also 5555.
Enjoy your trip.
I'm looking forward to seeing your next video 😊
Hello Michael! Yes we were very happy with the Thipurai, perfect location isn't it! We have left Hua Hin though unfortunately (our videos are about 3 weeks behind real time) but appreciate the restaurant and massage recommendations! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment ☺️
good choice to get air/cond train . the 3rd class is ok but better for shorter time and cold
Agree!
Beautiful ❤
Buses are your best option. They go between bus terminals and airports. Once at the Hua Hin terminal you transfer to a mini bus that takes you direct to your hotel. Happy travels
Great tip! I didnt even look into the buses actually. Will keep in mind for next time, appreciate that!
We build this terminal for high speed bullet train their are under construction the track right now we build for the future in 10 years you can a bullet train from Europe to Asia
That will be great! Felt like we were in an airport it was so big.
How did you book the ticket online. Looking now on the internet...
Hello! We used 12go.Asia website - all details are mentioned in the video ☺️
Absolutely do not take open air train for trips longer than 2 hours. Only if it's cooler that day.
Glad we made the right decision and went the next day then! Thank you for watching ☺️
กลับมาเที่ยวอีกนะคะ😊
We will! 🥰
If you want more chilled, head to Pratchuap about an extra hour on the train.
Thanks for the tip, Tim! ☺️
Train number 43 just 3hrs from bangkok to huahin 330 baht
you can book ticker fron d-ticket app or website it's srt ofiicial not agency
best way to krungthep apiwat take mrt blue line to bangsue station
Thanks for the tips! We took train 43 to Hua Hin in this video ☺️
What website did you use to book tickets
12go. asia
'Twelve Go'. Yeah, no. Let's try One, Two, GO. lolz.
Haha you get what I mean! 🤣
Thai coconut pancake. Thai call is BaBin. It's red like purple make from Black glutinous rice flour 😊 14:49
Thank you! ☺️
Great choice delaying for the air con! Another great vid. Hope you're enjoying Hua Hin! ❤
Oh aircon was a non-negotiable in the 40 degree blazing Thailand heat, we should have been more prepared and pre-booked though 😫 lesson well and truly learnt haha! Thanks so much, glad you guys enjoyed the vlog 🥰
Not sure we're ready for that heat 🥵😂@@KristyandSteve
Plan your outdoor activities early in the morning and later in the day if you can, the mid day sun is brutal! Also taking an umbrella to shade from sun and lots of electrolytes. You'll have a great time, its the best city! 😍
@@KristyandSteve that's great advice! I hadn't thought about the electrolytes!! ❤️
I also had issues with the train and took the 3rd class offering. Was miserable, took ages. I swear they slowed down for every cat they passed.
Why didnt you buy your tickets for the following day while you were at the station, saves paying 12go their cut.
You can download the Thailand train app and buy tickets online for the same price you buy at the station.
We should have done this! Good tip, thanks Tim ☺️
Which beach is that?
The main Hua Hin beach near the Centara resort 😄
ขนมอร่อย 🤤😋🤪 ❤❤
Haha who's snacks were better though?
😂😂 Too Funny, keep listening to travel advice on-line and there you go.
You're not wrong! 🤣
@@KristyandSteve My gf and I waited I think like 5 hours because I thought we could buy tickets at the station. I just thought we could but no. A Bus was given as an option and we said no thanks.
Yeah thats fair enough! How did you end up getting to Hua Hin?
How much taxi?
Hi Vincent. Do you mean taxi from Hua Hin station to our hotel? It was a Grab and from memory was only about 80-100 baht
Yeah, you can book in advance. Its a month in advance
Good to know, thank you ☺️
Don't suppose you're still in Hua Hin?
Cheers Simon
Hey Simon! Unfortunately not, we are currently in Krabi (our videos are about a month behind). Are you guys in Hua Hin?
You know she made it a point that she is NOT a going on a non-air conditioning train and as a good man you agreed, or else..😂😉☺️
Haha basically! 🤣
Great, informative vlog. Steve, mate can you wear hat occasionally so we don't have to wear sunnies due to the glare coming off your head. 😂
🤣
I did the no aircon train from hua hin to Bangkok 4 hours 30 min . Would not recommend you did the right thing i was wreaked .
Thank you for sharing this Peter! Seems we annoyed a few people in this videos comment section for not getting the longer, non-aircon train 🤣 We cant stress enough that we do not care haha #teamaircon
In the near future, there will be high speed train run to Lao,Chiengrai , will be busier.
Its a brilliant space and was good to experience SE Asias largest railway terminal at possibly its quietest. Wont be like that for long though as you mention, it will only get busier! ☺️
That is the Chatchai Market, better IMO than Tamarind or Cicada.
Thank you! ☺️
That's why I rented an new car from Hertz cost $650 for 30 days. Well worth it in Thailand heat and traffic...
Absolutely worth it hey! We did end up hiring a car in a few of our upcoming vlogs, definitely the way to go 👍🏼
Just book a cab from bkk to hua hin and save time and avoid trouble.
Would consider this next time! ☺️
Hope you got a refund . The non aircon is fine with the window open . We travel from Darwin and it’s no hotter than what we are used to here .
oooh yes you'd experience those temperatures up north! Maybe we'll give it a go next time 😉 Thanks for watching!
God people ...Smell the roses..... Your in Thailand...... Stop complaining...... Get a sense of adventure.... Put down your Lattes..... The train looks bland and boring, you may as well be back in Australia... Life and adventure starts when you step outside your comfort zone.....Sad....Mate, get some balls and take control.... You will both be happier.
Thanks for sharing your opinion and watching our video!
Well stated mate. 😊
I just pay for a taxi 🚖 and not wait hours to save 50 bucks when I arrived at bbk the bus to pattaya had to wait over 2hours for the bus I just hopped into a taxi 🚖 😊 !
Taxi's and Grabs are fantastic in Bangkok aren't they! Thanks for watching our video ☺️
@@KristyandSteve I had the bolt app it come in handy a few times !
Oh we did hear a mention of Bolt, didnt try it though. Might give it a go next time, cheers John
😂😂😂
Air con is very unhealthy. Would choose fan every time. Try living like a local.
Each to their own ☺️ Thanks for watching!
1st world mistake. Always book trains in advance. If the train is full go to Suvanabhumi airport gate 8 and get the VIP bus, very comfortable.
Yes true! Lesson learnt 🤣
No aircon , no problem, the open windows ensure a cool breeze
Might give it a go in the slightly cooler months, it was 43 degrees when we were there 🥵
Got love tourists, Somtum not Tomsum!
Oops! 🤣
Lack of planning leads to this result. Been there, done that. Don't do it anymore.
You live and learn hey! 😅
@@KristyandSteve If one had many days to "play with" then hours don't matte when it comes to transport I find. Otherwise, lack of planning creates undue stress.
Totally agree
Yep. I've been on trips for months and gotten stuck out in the middle of the rice paddies at 0430 on a broken down bus and had no stress about it since I had nowhere to be for two months. Others on the bus, very stressed out about connecting transportation that very morning.
Tom sum
5555555555
Yeah, lolz
Air con train grab you are really doing thailands
Costa coffee and McDonald's next.
I know right! Crazy there are different people in this world who like different things! Dont be so small minded and judgmental, Kevin.
@KristyandSteve
you are supposed to be on holiday
Turn off you comments if you don't want people to actually make comments.
Kevin, we are not on "holidays". We have been travelling full time for 2 years, we are simply living our day to day life. We also enjoy engaging with (most) people in our comments section, its nice to connect with people from around the world.
@KristyandSteve
Jesus calm down
I am sorry I did not resurch some ransom people vloging on tube
Who have verry thin skins
As I stated be fore if you don't want comments switch them off
If your travelling is now your bussness I would suggest that you be nicer to your viewer's.
We are very nice to our viewers if you read every single comment we have made in over 100 videos. I suggest you be nicer to strangers on the internet if you dont want to be called out in the future 😉
Have a nice day wherever you are in the world!
Would have liked to know where larger luggage is stored on the train, or if it has to be checked, then picked up someplace. That's kind of an important detail for an older traveller like me. Gave you an upvote anyway...
Hello! That is a valid question. So as you board the train, there are compartments for larger suitcases near the entrance doors. The overheard storage is quite big though, Steve carries a 25kg suitcase and his fit fine in the overhead. There is no option to check luggage as far as we are aware.
Thank you for watching! ☺️
@@KristyandSteve Thanks, that's very helpful, as I plan to take the train from BKK to Hua Hin next month. Peace
Enjoy Hua Hin!
It seems so fascinating ,I think you should improve your video title, tags , add end screen, shared it in various social media platforms and most importantly add more ranking tags on video tag section. Then your videos can easily reach out to your lovely audience....🤍🤍🤍And All the best for your journey on youtube...!!!
