Will do. Thanks.
This will be a lost art in a few decades.
@Amplm pyc is depressed as mentioned in the original video, the stock tuners have low ratio so kinda difficult to fine tune
Regalo mo nalang sakin to idol haha para meron na ko electric haha peace
The amount of kids out there that get bought super high end guitars, amps and effects just to start learning only to give up one month later is insane.

Dude I'm so bad my videos cant even be found in the recommendation system
I have the same problem the other way......I can take a $2000 guitar and with my playing ability, it sounds like a $89 dollar guitar!
That's the most common my man. Same here. And that after almost 2 years of learning .
I like your intro, straight to the point "Listen, I know what I am doing, google me, its there. Now lets talk about this cheap guitar"
"It's not always the ride, it's the rider."
Always a fan of sir Perf🤘
I think the idea of an "improve your cheap guitar" series is a really lovely idea - a chance to teach those youngsters and/or parents how to improve their cheap starter instruments. One of my band mates has been building guitars with his son, and now his lad is leaving school and looking at a music industry related career. This idea is no small thing, it could really influence some future guitarists and maybe future luthiers too.
Wow! I'm from L.A.! Never knew there's a guy in the Philippines who can play this good using a dirt-cheap guitar! I became a fan in an instant! Cheers from L.A.! Legazpi, Albay.
F L I T Z ataay 😂😂
He's a famous guitar player in philippines back in the old times
Im so cheap, instead of buying cheap guitar, i made one myself. (with reclaimed wood and cheap pickups. :D )
That ain't cheap, you're creative :)
For me that is priceless.
That's pure talent bro.
Yown!!
awesome!! sample soundcheck sir soon
I have startes learning again after 12 years. I left playing because of a bad accident that happened all those years ago, you have in fact forced me to come back to playing once again. thank you for that. I will learn how to play a guitar and I will learn it well. Thanks teacher, keep rocking. 🤘😎
Same here. I got into an accident that prevented me from playing for 2 years. I picked up an inexpensive guitar so I can rehabilitate my arm and play again. I hope you are doing great.
Cheap guitars are a great way to start getting into mods. I bought a cheapo tele that costed me 3500 pesos and probably spent around 1800 pesos on a new neck, new tuners, a fret file and some nuts. That guitar sounds damn good to my ears compared to my strat that I bought for 8000.
where did you buy the new neck? currently looking for a maple neck. thanks!
I know a guy in the city I live in, that it doesn't matter what guitar he plays, he is such an incredible guitar player that if one turns around and not know and see how cheap he's guitar was, you would think he was playing a $5,000 Les Paul re-issue instead of a $99 made in Indonesia les Paul copy.. its all in the fingers man..
A really underrated channel. This is quality content.
Actually I was amazed by the sound of that guitar at the end of the video, Sir perf really thought me that it's not about how beautiful your instrument is, it's all about a your skills!
FIRST!
What kind of effects did you use in part of dirty tone sir perf?
Sir perf. Try mo din mag mod ng mga cheap guitars. Great video sir.

I just received an identical GTL last week. $68.40 delivered to San Francisco. Have to change strings, clean fingerboard. Check the level, polish frets. I learned a few cords on two verry funky and very bad guitars when I was young. Truth is, the actions were so bad, I gave up guitar. Now retired, bought this Glarry and will try again. I believe my eBay Glarry was actually a return. The (bad) strings were shiny at the frets, indicating lots of use. There was no plastic film on either pickguard or the pick-ups. Hence, a return. The transparent yellow high gloss finish was flawless. So, even if it was a return, I will just try to set it up and use for my learning guitar. Perfecto- you intimidate me. I don't see me ever getting close to your skill. It has to be the guitar genes. Good video. Great channel.
He's based in the US and I don't think he can grab on the cheap guitar brands that are selling here in PH like Sqoe, JCraft, Thomson, RJ, Elegee. Unless purchased here in PH and shipped to US.. Hassle na yata yun.. BUT still hoping that you can make a review of those brands sir Perf. :) Mabuhay ka Sir Perf!!
mas mahal pa shipping ng PH to US kesa value ng guitars haha
Exactly!
We can probably tap those brands to send them for free to Sir Perf. Hehe
Pag uwi mu nalang sa pilipinas wahahahah
I’m also a professional guitarist, and I bought that very same Glarry. I thought I’d just mess with it or mod it or something.
SURPRISE! It’s actually a pretty darn decent little axe! Now... it wouldn’t be my go-to gigging instrument... BUT
in an emergency it’d be GREAT! He’s right- the microphonic pups are a bit of a drag, and I had to smooth down the ends of the frets. But other than that... I LOVE THIS AXE!
looking forward for the next video of upgrading this guitar!!
Im not complaining about the influx of cheap copy guitars at all. The big names still have the kudos, still sell loads. A well known band will always be seen with quality gear.
For the rest of us, the home, bedroom and lounge brigade, of which i am a member, its good news. I dont feel im good enough for a 1000 plus guitar but im happy i can get something half decent now for a fraction of that.
Sir Perf, how 'bout testing out the new JCraft Vintage series? Sana po ma test niyo, kung hindi. Amma wait 😁.

Great review! I went up a notch with an Indio (Monoprice) "Retro Classic DLX" and for $199 and got an instrument equivalent to the Squier and other T-style guitars currently selling in the $400 to $600 range. Excellent construction, great finish, holds a tune and great sound that is plenty "Tele" enough for the price tag. Set up at the factory saved me a trip to the luthier and the extra $ for that. Strung with D'Addarios and comes with a free gig bag. I will be using this guitar with my students. I encourage you to have a look if you haven't already!.
Best part of buying my Glarry...the research that led to finding this guy!..awesome player !
how about making a cheap amplifier video?
Up
Yes please upp
yep
Cheap amps are irrelevant in that it's about the speaker. For instance, you can wire a $70 amp into a 1x12 speaker cabinet and it will sound like a more expensive solid state amp.
EXCELLENT tutorial, Perf! I spend more of my time making these cheap instruments play really well so newbies want to keep playing than I do crafting new instruments and I get every bit of satisfaction out of it as well... Greg Bogoshian, RockBeach Guitars
the Glarry "Stratocaster" was 60 bucks on Amazon, so i got one for camping trips - - cheap enough that i wouldn't have to worry if it got damaged
or ran low on firewood.. HA!.. .. Immediately replaced strings & tuned and adjusted pickup heights. No fret or finish problems to repair. The whammy recovers
nicely from a nosedive, and in 6 months i've only had to adjust tuning once! The neck is THICK like a baseball bat, but still easy to play.
hey for $60, i'm exceptionally pleased with the tone and finish and playability of this Glarry Strat. Even A HUNDRED sixty dollars would be worth it.
(using a 6-AA battery BlackStar FLY amp when camping. Hell it was $10 more than the guitar!)
That was a semi-enjoyable commercial. You hooked me into watching - didn't let me down - gave the results I expected - and I feel neither happy or sad.
Pro guitarist? Uh, YEAH! Besides the free guitar, Glarry should, definitely, pay you for this video. Just for the playing alone.
It's crazy how cheap you can get a decently working guitar these days.
Yeah, but you get the worst hardware you can get, cheesy sounding pickups, plus a crappy fret job, a poor feel... In the end it's better to save some money and get a "real" guitar. It may technically be a guitar but it'll never be an good instrument.
@@TeleCaster66 Some folks can't afford it, man.
It's that simple.
I grew up poor.
Ramen and Koolaid poor.
And always wanted a guitar.
But I was an adult with my own job and Bill's before I got one, and being an adult with other priorities, I knew I would not be able to devote the time and attention required to learn the instrument, so an inexpensive model was the wisest option.
If I take to it, perhaps I will upgrade, but dropping more than a couple hundred on a whim is kinda reckless
@@TeleCaster66 ok noob
@@anuvette noob? Sorry, been playing longer than you've been alive I'd bet.
@@joelbizzell1386 Depends on how bad you want a good guitar. I was poor too when I was young but played good guitars I bought used.

Harley Benton TE-52 is a good alternative but you'll have to pay more shipping if you're in the US since it can only be purchased online through Thomann's which is based in Germany. Their products are cheap but good in quality as well. Y'all should check them out..

Very well done. You got a lot of guts! Beginners are lucky to have someone like you!
This is actually a good guitar review. Looking forward to more guitar reviews Perf! Thanks and more power.
I found this video by accident and watched only out of curiosity. I have to say that you are one of the best presenters of videos that I have ever watched on You Tube. Honest, polished, and very informative. You sir could sell anything, well done.
I own the Burning Fire bass and the Burning Fire guitar, both in the sunset paintjob, plus I own the Tele-style semi-hollow body, in sunburst blue. I love all three guitars. I will say, all three of them required intonation and setup, plus I broke one of my high strings on one guitar right away too.
I remember when you restored a Gibson Les Paul and I'm aware of how good you are. Thus the only reason why I'm interested in your opinion
Dude has a good attitude too
Very emotive with nice use of accents on the guitar. As a guitarist for book trailers looking for inspiration, your playing here is great since you make the guitar sound so melodic and lively even if the guitar isn't high quality. Inspiring!
Perfecto de carpio. Every night and every day. I see you, I feel you....🎶👌
Onother PERFECTO demo sir perf!..you realy inspire me a lot
Wow to one of Filipino legendary guitarists...guitar price,or quality doesn't really matter...it is always up to the player....meron ka nga super ganda at Mahal na gitara...but you do don't have da sir perf guitar playing skills...good job sir...I kinda like that guitar..oh yeah
A good guitarist can make a cheap guitar sound good. I think it sounds badass.
I'm seriously about to get one of these and hot rod it. Replace the neck completely with a fender tele style one, replace the bridge and pickups and you've got an amazing guitar for close to 300 bucks (depending on how high-end your willing to go).
The neck is actually decent once you dress the frets and change the nut. Check out my followup video :)
@@OfficialPerfectoDeCastro >> I really love the classic tele headstock though. I'll definitely check out that follow up video anyway. Thanks.
Kuya Perf, you can make a one dollar guitar sound like a million bucks!!!
Sir Perf I'm a huge fan of yours. I know there ain't any shortcuts towards becoming a great guitarist, but I'd like to try to play electric guitars. The real challenge is how I can bring myself to get one. I hope I can get a cheap guitar just like the one you bought.
Great idea to modify this guitar and maybe make a mini series for that 😊 And also, maybe make it a giveaway from a contest. Don't forget to sign the guitar 😄 kaso parang most of your viewers are not in the US..
Keep it up Sir, God Bless...
I really enjoyed the jam you laid down at the end man that is great playing. So cool I was into it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm so cheep that I grabbed 6 rubber bands and stretched them out to be. A guitar
that actually has a pretty cool tone!!
Reviewing guitars should be like this. You have to judge the guitar according to its price and if its a good value for your money. For 89usd?? Ill practice my technician skills on this guitar hehehehe
Sounds fine to me, my first guitar was a black Les Paul copy, it was like playing a heavy tin can, this guitar looks lovely...
Omg never thought I could see Kirk Hammett playing cheap guitars

At first I was like ok, whos this youtuber, then I checked out your discography and was dumbfounded when I found a first copy of your Rivermaya CD in my mom's collection.....
That was a pretty honest and informative video. I saw another channel where the guy couldn't believe how good a Glarry $100 bass was. If you've got the minimum skills to do a little work you can get a nice playable guitar to learn on and not have to drop 2 week's pay on it.
Where were these guitars when I was 12. The cheapest ones were $175 at my local guitar shop in 1992 and I'm sure the mark-up was probably 100%.
I know, right?
If you had gotten this piece of junk when you were 12, you probably would have given up when you were 12 and a half.
Man the beginner stuff available in southeastern Kentucky in '86 was absolute garbage. It amazes me what kids can get cheaply nowadays.
I don't even know how to play a guitar but I've been watching your vids just out of entertainment and curiosity.
All these explanations he’s giving of the sound quality, lacking as it may be, and all I hear is some badass guitar playing!
Thin sounding? It's a telecaster copy. Telecaster's are generally thin sounding. But that one actually sounds round and full, just need to be broken in.
you have to compare sounds side by side....good guitar will havemuch more sustain and more hhmpff you know.
I like your riffs sir
Great player, doesn't mean anything that he's Filipino. Music is the universal language.
millions of pro guitarists on yt. stay humble
Cheapness doesn't matter, the passion does
I can't wait for you to set up that guitar. More power 💪
Nice guitar overall, although the pickups kinda off for me, considering the price point (around 5,000 Php), Its a great-value guitar for beginners. For someone like me whose been used to playing acoustic and considering owning an electric for the 1st time in the future, I think this could be a good guitar to start, mainly for familiarising with the knobs and electric guitar maintenance
I’m glad you kept the verb off and the presence full. So we could hear the actual guitar ..
🤠🎸🎶✌️
Laughtrip Sir Perf, HAHAHA
Im gonna do it again to make it sexy 2:20
I broke the string 4:05 - 4:10
i normally do thumbs down on other youtubers..... this is the only channel that i'm not only subscribed, but also do thumbs up.
Classic case of "It's the Indian that matters, not the Arrow."
That is incredible value for money!
People spend way too much money on gear hoping it will give them an advantage, the only way to really sound good is to spend the hours of practice that is required, there is not shortcut! This video is a clear example of what a good player can do with a mediocre instrument. This guitar is sufficiently good enough for at least a couple of years for any beginner. Nice video perfecto. Salamat.
I wish someday I can also call myself as a Pro Guitarist
I would love to see a follow up to this video, upgraded pick ups, tuners and bridge
I have my secondhand fernando tele. also Mr. perf, worth 3000 pesos! haha since i am no pro guitarist, satisfied n din ako, highschool ko pa pangarap mag ka electric guitar kaso wala chance mbilhan dahil sa hirap ng buhay, now mai work na ako kaya ko na bumili kaso late na ata to improve..
You keep me inspired Maestro!! Godbless!!
Same situation tayo bro.
Mahirap kasi buhay nuon, kaya hindi makabili ng gamit.
Pero, wag ka sumuko sa dream mo bro.
Kahit matanda na, may room pa din for improvement.
I suggest, you to invest your time into music theory, while doing different chromatic exercises.
That round and muddy sound at the neck sounds so bar band. I actually like it.
Sounds perfectly fine! Good player for sure, but this shows that good guitars are overpriced, it also looks beautiful. Nice video 👍👍
I've got to say that's a beautiful looking guitar. Great playing, Perf. Cheers for a good vid.
Lol i bought a 40 dollars guitar on shoe store... Lol! And it sounds ok and i still using it till now after 5 years
I have two Yamaha EG 112C2´s, I think I paid $199.00 per. Great guitars. You can walk away from one for six months, and the strings might be rusted over but those damned things will still be in the exact tuning you left them in. All the stuff I´ve seen on youtube about guitars has convinced me of what I already suspected, that the most important thing about an electric guitar is that the octaves are right on, the action and strings are even and consistent and you have good pickups and amp and it has good tuning machine heads that won't move. No one will ever convince me that pricey guitars aren´t a scam. These are not my only cheap guitars, I also have a Gibson Maestro 2/3rd scale acoustic guitar my son bought me. I think he may have paid a couple of hundred for it. Another great guitar, easy to play, (small hands), and sounds great. I keep that one next to my sofa so I can play while I´m watching TV.
Shredtastic, sir
A "cheap" guitar is going to sound good in the hands of someone with talent, i have an electric guitar, brand is Kawai, got it 30 years ago, tried to learn to play but... i have no talent for it, nowadays its somewhere in the house collecting dust.
Talent gives way to determination. No one learns guitar overnight unless they already play another instrument.
He could probably play a turnip and make it sound good.
@@lostintime8651 I love a turnip with single coils.
Love the intro sir perf!! Ang angas! Haha!
To brushy one string that axe is a limousine 😂
Cost too much chicken in the pot.
Haha oo nga.
1) You play fantastic
2) Yeap amazing guitar for that price. I recently bought a Squier Strat for 130 euros (for a mod project), my first guitar in the early 2000s was a Squier Strat as well. And between the Squier Strat I bought the other day, and my first Squier Strat, there is no comparison. The Squier Strat I just bought was setup properply, stayed in tune, and played and sounded good (for that price). My first guitar was a piece of crap, bending made the tuning keys spin backwards and the string would go out of tune, intonation was terrible and the tremolo bar was unusable.
Entry price guitars have really improved a lot and are suitable for beginners, and mod projects.
