A WordPress booking calendar or WordPress appointment form is a must for any service company. They aren't hard to create and can be free to make.
In this tutorial we're to use the free Contact Form 7 plugin to create the form and then add a Datepicker so that people can choose when they require your services.
Once they submit the form you will need to contact them to confirm and possibly find a different date and time that works for everyone if the date and time don't work.
That's the major drawback of doing it the free way. If you want to spend a few dollars a month you can create an automated booking system.
You can create a calendar with specific dates and times that you are available.
The customer can then choose from those dates and times.
If some requests a specific date and time, it will be removed from the calendar so future visitors can't choose that time as well.
You could have system communicate with specific people in your business so they can do the tasks they need to do.
You can have a system that sends SMS messages to the customer the day before the service to ensure that it is still a go.
The stuff you can do these days is pretty awesome, but that's not this video.
Here we are using free tools to create a basic appointment form.
The first thing you have to do is install two plugins.
To install this plugin please log into your WordPress dashboard, hover over Plugins and then click on Add New.
On the next page type "Contact" into the search bar. The plugin we want should be the first one in the top left.
Click on the Install Now button and then click Activate after it's installed.
Then follow the same steps to install the Contact Form 7 Datepicker plugin.
Now create the form you want your clients or customers to fill out. Then add the date picker module so that they can choose a date and time.
Then create the email that will be sent to you. If you need some assistance check out this tutorial: • Creating A Contact For...
Once it's all set up make sure you test it to make sure it works. If you don't get the email working try the Flamingo Plugin for Contact Form 7.
This plugin will store all Contact Form 7 submissions in your database for easy access.
Once that's all done you should be ready to start accepting service appointment requests through this form.

Sorry but this isn't a Booking Calendar suitable for hotels because there is just one field for the check-in date and no check-out field. To me it's more of a Scheduler and nothing more.

Hi, the plugin doesn't seem to work if I have "Contact Form 7 - PayPal & Stripe Add-on" activated. Any idea how I can go about that? I am trying to do a simple booking form with a payment on next page and figured the date picker for picking the booking date would be cool.

Hey! First of all - thanks for your awesome video! It really helped me out with CF7. Is there a chance to relate two dates with each other? So that 'date one' could be an arrival and 'date two' a departure date? Important: I want to avoid that the second date could be selected as earlier than the first date...

They date picker doesn't work at all in my site! No matter what settings I try, it just won't show the calendar and/or the time. Not sure if it's a theme compatibility or what? Using Bridge theme with VC. You mention in one of your comments that Gravity or Ninja forms are much more responsive. Since they're both very expensive, do you know if they offer a free version that can have this functionality, (date, time)? I can't seem to find this info...thank you so much!

Good work getting started building your website, that's the best way to learn :)
The first thing I would do is make sure all your plugins, your theme and your WP core files are up-to-date. Sometimes out-of-date things on your site can have all sorts of weird implications. It can even be a plugin that's not related to CF7 that's causing the problem.
The video is very helpful.... but one problem there is no option to select PM or AM on time

I wish to provide a calendar to a small group of authorised users to show a booked appointments and enter appointments.
Unauthorised users on get a notification, not able to see the calendar.

The answer is yes, but not with CF7. At least not easily with CF7. What I show in this tutorial doesn't input data into your database, which is required to output a calendar of booked appointments. Have you looked into using services like Calendly or Acuity Scheduling?

You may be able to add multiple instances of the calendar input into a form, but CF7 isn't really designed for that. With tutorials like this I feel like we're reaching the limits of what CF7 can do. There are some great plugins made specifically for true booking calendars. I'm going to be creating some tutorials for those in the near future.

Hi there... I have a question... Is there a form that will be like a search window. So that once you put the date it will show you if your available or booked?
Hi Blazej, there are services like that, but contact form 7 isn’t one of them.
I use a scheduler called Acuity. In Acuity I can set the days/hours I’m available to be booked and the calendar shows people which times/days I still have available. Once someone books an appointment, it is instantly removed from the scheduler so it can’t be double booked.

I'm having some difficulties though in finding out on how to customise the colors of the datepicker; I see the different themes, but have no clue which file should be changed, css, js....i've been looking through all the plugin files...but am really lost. I would just like to customise a provided theme so the calender matches up nicely with the website.

+matthew boerjan Hi Matthew, responsiveness can be affected by where people place their form and how their form is created. If used normally, responsiveness of the date picker isn't a problem.

Is there a version that is better mobile optimised which also still includes the time picker as well?
Not with contect form 7, but if you're willing to switch to a form builder like Ninja forms or gravity forms they have much better mobile optimization.

I've done my contact form , with 3 drop downs below the destinations like so

Like if someone booked a small taxi to Vemdalen 2395kr, he/she should be able to get that in the mail instead of Bydalen small car 1795kr if that makes sense... What must I add?

How to exclude time?
Hi, i followed your instruction, then i try to create a test, i am getting this error " Invalid time supplied". please advise.
Help!!! Followed instruction but for what ever reason when you change the time-format to hh:mm:tt when you try to complete the form you get an error message; invalid date and time supplied. If you take out tt it goes through but you do not see am or pm when selecting.
Ok, i think I found a work around. Not sure if it will hold up but it atleast lets me submit forms with out being in millitary format. I changed it to hh:mm_tt (underscore had to be used). Also i noticed a zero in front of time which also may be weird for some folks who picks evening hours. So finally changed the code to h:mm_tt (just one h) seems to work.

Good question. I haven't changed the language of the datepicker before, but my feeling is there is no simple way. You could either change the files of the plugin, but then updates would undo your changes.
Or, as you suggested, change it using JS. I would recommend using jQuery.
There's a cool .replace() jQuery function that will replace specific text as long as you can select it. You may be able to really easily replace the datepicker text.

all right. but am having some confusion with the email right now. All the other things are working fine as shown in your videos but for some reason. email are not getting delivered to the domain email no matter where I put it( in the to, or from fields). That domain email is not getting the emails. but all other emails are being delivered as they should. Even Cc and Bcc fields work fine. What could the problem be o.O ?

Hi Bjorn, I do not get the datepicker working... followed your instructions to the letter and click. Have got a new field, but the Datepicker does not open when clicked on. Not in Firefox, not in Chrome. Am on Win10/WP with Enfold theme, CF7 installed, the lot.. any suggestions?

It could be a theme or plugin conflict. Can you check to make sure all your plugins, your theme and your core files are up-to-date?
What about paid event ticket with printable pdf ?

You should be able to hide it using CSS. Are you familiar with using your browser's inspector and where to put CSS in your theme?

Thanks, great video but when I make the adjustment to the time (hh:mm:tt), it gives an error message of invalid. Any idea why this would be?
When does it show the error message? After you try selecting a date?
No the error appears when I hit submit. (fluffypuppies.ca/1317-2/) By the way, I also used your other video about styling CF7. Very helpful, just need to figure out the 'triangle' that shows a dropdown menu (see type of service required).
modifying the time format from time-format:HH:mm to time-format:hh:mm:tt invalidates the form field when submitted. Anyone experience the same problem, if so, did you find a work around?
In case this helps anyone. I had the same problem as John and found a solution. Change time format line to the following : time-format:hh:mm_tt .So replace the colon between minutes and "tt" with underscore instead. This solution was obtained from github.com/relu/contact-form-7-datepicker/issues/63. Good luck!

It sounds like there's a conflict between the modal popup and the caldera form. There are a lot of things could be wrong and it's usually not a quick fix. There isn't much I can do without seeing the form and having access to the site. And even then it may be that two plugins don't work together in that way.
is there a way to remove the Time option, I found out that I can hide it using CSS, but then when a date is picked, the time of 0:00 still inputs into the field. Can this "0:00" be removed?

'Date' and 'time' are default on the form. You need to download and activate the 'datepicker' plugin before 'datetime' becomes available. I'm no expert, but i had the same issue. Hope that helps
