    Hi Guy"s!
Herding cats, RAISING and herding hog's, keeping goats out of the orchard.............NOT PLEASANT MEMORIES!!!!
Hog's were my FFA project! I have NEVER owned a goat or hog since high school, and I will be 82 in a few short months!
I defended you guy's the other day when someone said.... "THOSE guy's are not fit to eat with the hog's!!!... What a cruel thing to say!!
We all think you guy's are fit to eat with the hog's!!!
Love the VIDEO'S, and look for them every day!
BEST WISHES, AND GOD BLESS OUR FARMERS!

Dad had 30-60 sows when I grew up. I don’t like eating pork to this day. Cleaning farrowing pens. Having to let out sows twice a day to eat and drink. Little pigs would run out and have to get them back in the pen when mom was right there with you. Having sows chase you in a confined space . Frozen waters and having to thaw them out. Sorting pigs all the time. Pigs were gone after I left for college.

I wouldn't mind coming across a building being removed i could reuse some of the materials from. I was offered a small barn but the owner never got ahold of me to set up a time to rip it down and bring it home. Its hard to farm without proper structures. You guys have definitely went through time on your farm. I'm sure it took time to decide to cut down on what to concentrate your time and money into. We have a small hobby farm I've been working hard to get started. We have a bit of everything here. A donkey, a dairy cow, chickens, turkeys, goats, pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats, birds, and a bearded dragon. We only have 2 acres to work with but we are doing it. It has been one step at a time for sure. Making the best of what we have and don't have. Love seeing a farms history and getting ideas as well. Love your videos even though I don't seem to find time to watch much anymore. Between family, two jobs one part time one full time, and a farm, days pass before we know it. My dream is to have a fully functional farm and spend more time working from home. Thank you for the hard work you put into your farm, people like me wouldn't have it so easy without what you guys do every day.

It was interesting seeing what the Larson's used to do. Bet that was a real chore taking care of all those pigs. Lots of hard work! Chet talked about cutting the galvanized steel and getting sick. Reminded me when I was about 12, helping my oldest brother cut-up some galvanized pipe for scrap. He told me that you could get sick from breathing the fumes from that. I think it was zinc poisoning. Guess what? I inhaled too much and I was sick! Just like Chet. But, when he mentioned about being 12 yo, and that happening to him. The first thing I thought was, I would love to have seen Chet at that age. I bet he was cute as a bug in a rug! Best to your family in all you do, and thanks for what you are doing. God Bless!

Chet just some good advice try to avoid galvanize smoke if at all possible but if you do inhale the smoke just drink some vitamin D milk the calcium in the milk will clear it away, this is not a joke I have done it quite a few times during my welding career but PPE is best also if you get eye burn from welding arcs look at something green, green is the most soothing color on the eyes, it will help but won't completely take the sting away, y'all stay safe...

You guys make a great comedy team! I grew up on a combination farm in Central Indiana. Corn, Beans, Wheat, Cattle, and hogs. We maintained a 300 sow herd, farrow to finish. I recall all the joys? of raising hogs, and your buildings are very familiar looking. I always hated overnight duty in the farrowing barn. Sow would drop a 14-pig litter at 1AM and by sunrise she would have 6 left. Dad always reminded me that we did not get paid on the number of pigs a sow birthed, but on the ones we raised. We paid for quite a few additional crop acres by raising hogs. Thanks for the memories! As Dougo would say, "For those of you who know......."

We raised hogs here when I was a kid also milked cows and then did custom work around the neighborhood for a lot of the smaller farmers at that time . Pigs left I think about 1970 4 or 5 one point I thought I'd like to have the back but not anymore. I like the beef cattle. And crops

Love the history, 10.5 to 11 pig average is pretty good. Always say hogs are mortgage lifters, but boy the knees and lungs take a beating

It would be great to have a video with Merlin, Dougo, Randy, and Chet discussing the farm history. Big Swede can moderate...I mean interview 😊

Thanks for the tour. I worked on my late Uncle's hog farm I enjoyed every day of it. I miss him and working the hogs. Dougo you are right with the hogs putting the heads in the corner and staying there.
