Theo James' desire to leave the drama had to end their love affair. So how did he do this to us, Sanditon lovers? We fought so hard with #SaveSanditon in getting this show back but our leading role Sidney Parker chose to leave the series. Moreover, such an ending is nothing like the ending in Jane Austen's stories.

Cannot watch the show without Theo and Rose
Theo James was incredible. I'm happy we have the 2nd and 3rd seasons. It's sad cause Sidney Parker deserved his HEA! Please come back or recast. A 2nd season awaits us, but we fought for Sidney and Charlotte to have their HEA.
I don’t mind a recast. For me, in Jane Austen’s novel Sanditon, the main love story is between Sidney Parker and Charlotte Heywood. They deserve HEA. Thank you very much!
It is unfathomable to think Sidney Parker will live on without the woman who holds his heart💔
This is why I’M STARTING TO HATE SERIES. They can end on a cliffhanger with an unhappy ending, your favorite actors leave (Theo, Rege-Jean, etc.) & you’re stuck with dissatisfaction, disappointment & time you can never get back. Good entertainment for me gives me what I cannot get in real life, satisfaction, happiness and/or excitement.
Wow, I have read several of the comments, I believe his reasons are ingenious and I truly believe he has another reason for not returning. His role was outstanding and the chemistry was beautiful. There was more than one story that was left unfinished. Hopefully, we will see him at least make a cameo in the end of Season 2 and 3. As you know in several of Jane Austen’s books there is heartbreak and change of heart. Yes it is disappointing, but the person who lost has always rebounded. Good writing will have a happy ending.
Please Theo please come back and finish this story.

Theo James was the PERFECT Sidney Parker ! Thank you SO MUCH for Season 1. Now, Charlotte has to continue on with her life without Sidney Parker (as do we). The writers have a tough job living up to Season 1. I'll watch Season 2 & 3, but I'll be sighing for the loss of Sidney.

even without theo i definitely will watch the new seasons.the story line.the cast and the settings were superb.will i watch any other theo james movie.i think not.this was his best performance in season 1.but no longer a fan
Of course we watch. And yes we are angry that Theo James is not participating in the new seasons. He and Rose Williams had a beautiful chemistry. But Well That's life.
Charlotte needs definitely a lover who deserve her. A strong character, not our Mr Stringer. He is to nice and a little bit soft, but hopefully he marries Charlotte sister. Let's wait a see what will be the next storyline. There are great writers involved, let give them a change. Let us watch season 2, and then comment 👍

I'm disappointed that Theo chose not to continue his character. But I love the show and can't wait to see who Charlotte falls in love with. We don't need to forget there was another handsome gentlemen that was on the show that liked Charlotte as well!

Having read all Austen’s books, to me it is definitely Sidney Parker for Charlotte. I’m sorry but I don’t agree if it’s not him in the end. I don’t mind a recast. Having said that, I do like the new characters in the new seasons. It’s just not Austen like to me if they create/ divert the love story into something else or even copied from others.. I appreciate writers who created a HEA of Sidney and Charlotte , follow up writing from the ending in Season 1.

I heard Theo is doing another science fiction thing, what a shame, In Sanditon we saw real acting, but it seems he likes the cool thing "he thinks", instead of real acting. Not good theo.

If Sidlotte got HEA, the series wont effect ppl like that, let’s be honest, they will be already forgotten maybe.
In that era love was never a point, Sidney did what he should do and in this point Theo is right. Their love story ends where it should end. Jane Austen heroin always gets HEA? so watch and see what love story with happy ending will get Charlotte and stop blaming Theo. I am fully agree with him, even my heart aches for Sidney who finally found someone he wanted to be with.
Ppl who r interested in Sidlotte HEA could simply ask for recast of Theo James but nooo they judge and blame him, why? Coz they dont care Charlotte and Sidney’s story, all what they want is seeing Theo in Sidney’s role 😃 even teenagers were not that obsessed with Four in Divergent than adult women with Theo as Sidney ))) Just respect his choice, they r famous and they are celebrities but they are simple humans who has their life and choices. He has always said that he prefers short indie movies but not whole series and it was not planned to have 3 seasons of Sanditon. And those who say Sanditon brought fame to him, nooo, I didnt like Theo coz of his role as Sidney, I knew him much before and I wouldnt even know about Sanditon series if Theo didnt take role of Sidney. Waiting to see his next projects and movies. ;)
i watched S2😒😠, it is about domination and insult, i think i will stay with season one, it is the best, by the way i have the book, sidney and Charlotte got married at the end thay lived happy ever after💞
To me, I just admire actors who cares really for his character, his fans, and everyone else in this team. Most of all understood what fans would like to see and for me I prefer lightness and joy. There is so much sadness and darkness in this world. We turn to media art to be entertained, to feel emotions and be Inspired. That’s the reason for me and this love story is the best I’ve ever seen for a long time. I just hope dear Theo you come back and finish this beautiful love story into a happy ending. No hard feelings but I am disappointed..
Charlotte can still have her happy ending - just not with Sydney.
I hope young Stringer steps up to be the shoulder Charlotte needs and slowly their relationship changes to love; Stringer loves Charlotte anyway.
Big mistake Theo you will regret this decision. You are the iconic Sidney and the Sidlotte story needed closure. I am now team Stringer for sure. I hope they recast Theo and that Charlotte chooses Stringer going forward. He truly loves her. Funnily enough Theo chose fame and fortune too.
If he is the one who choses fame and fortune, he would come back to the show and get huge amount of money for that ;) or have social network accounts and do what other celebrities do. I am pretty sure he is the modest and down to earth person and celebrity who cares things like private life and family.

@@figurinessquirt I replied coz of “fame and fortune” part, but whatever... Yes as you said he finished what he started. In interview about movie “How it ends” he was in LA and said he is going back to Britain to finish adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel and in few other interviews he said that his story with Charlotte is finished the way it finished. I suppose they planned other seasons for Charlotte’s lifeline and love stories but not with Sidney. And Rose Williams said in one interview that later Charlotte will develop studiing Architecture and so on...

Theo is a washed up 2010s action star who had disappeared from anyone’s radar until Sanditon. His next period drama role is a minor supporting character and not the male lead/love interest. MML is a movie by a first time director based on her short film for Refinery29’s CZcams channel. He wasn’t even the first choice for that role - he was a late casting to replace Sam Heughan who had other commitments. And the TTW announcement was met with a negative response before it even started filming last week.
Sidney Parker was Theo’s career reviving/saving role and he gave it up. He only loves making flops, I guess.
Czekam na 2sezon serialu. Uwielbiam nie tylko za scenariusz ale też za kostiumy, oddanie charakteru tamtych lat 🥰. Uwielbiam przenosić się do Sandition. Bardzo mi przykro, że bez Theo. Tak dużo się w nim zmieniło... I po co? Tylko po to żeby zaraz to zakończyć. Może zmieni zdanie i wróci w 3sezonie 🥰. Pozdrawiam fanów serialu ❤🤗

Ce M. JAMES est fort irrespecteux envers ce public de fans qui ont lutté pour que la série continue....Pourquoi attendre presque 2 ans pour dire que le personnage de Sydney n'avait plus rien à apporter à l'histoire.......Je crois que ce monsieur a d'autres projets plus ambitieux qui l'attendent.
A mon avis, il aurait été plus juste et cohérent de faire la série 1 en 12 épisodes avec le "happy-end" attendu....Dommage. je crains que les séries 2,3.....n'offriront pas la magie de la première.

"When it comes to love there is no such thing as a foregone conclusion.” I would like the writters of Sanditon to stick to the original storyline. Therefore if there is ever a Movie the viewer will get their HEA. For I fear should the writers stray from the original ending Sanditon may not be remembered as a Jane Austen novel.
