I was a heroin/fentanyl addict for around a year back in 2020-2021 and I completely relate and understand to what you were saying in this. Addiction really does re-wire your brain without us even realizing it's happening sometimes. It's strange to be self-aware of how awful our situation is, having friends die from the same substance, and yet we still don't want to change because of the escape it gives us. Glad to hear you're sober, I just reached my two year milestone in September which I still find hard to grasp
