Slam fire from dropping bolt, it happens sometimes on AK platforms. May not have a spring on the firing pin. Some models need the spring,

Check Firing pin. SKS will gunk up on Firing pin hole causing it to stay forward. Not sure how the Dragunov is built but I'm guessing somewhat similar?

Check the firing pin. There are some that are longer than the traditional firing pins. To deal with hard primers that some of the steel case ammo has. Or the firing pin channel was dirty and was stuck when you dropped the bolt
My bet is the firing pin got sticky from the watermelon juices and that caused it to "protruded" out in the firing position. Which caused the round to detonate when you dropped the bolt. The catastrophic failure happened because the muzzle was in the dirt when said round went off. Gas had no where to go.
firing pin might have got stuck considering the trigger was having problems.

Because it was made for bolt action rifles not semi autos that or the Zastava m76 magazine is out of spec and picky on ammo. It probably prefers round nose or soft points

Looks like the firing pin got stuck forward. Very common in that format, along with SKS and AK variants. Take firing pin out, clean it thoroughly and replace it. Nothing to do with the ammo at all.

That gun being stuck in the dirt like that probably cause back pressure. That’s what slammed the bolt back and locked it in place.

really enjoy your videos. couple things to look at on this gun. it is stamped 30-06 on the receiver, if you take it apart see if there is an 8 mm stamp on the barrel somewhere. 06 is a little longer than 8 mm and they may have just rechambered the barrel instead of replacing it. that magazine is definately for 8mm, that is why the 06 runds are a little long. i have seen this done before with some large ring mausers in 8mm. the chamber was recut for 06. they too had accuracy and pressure issues

A 30-06 (7.62X63) is far too long to chamber in an 8mm (8x57). Even if it did, it wouldn't blow up the gun. The 30-06 bullet is smaller than 8mm .308" compared to .323". It would just do down the bore no problem.

I had this happen when your trigger didn’t reset you probably broke the trigger spring so it didn’t have anything to latch on to so when you loaded it it slammed home and went off
That firing pin had extra gravity to push it down because of how you were loading it and it hit the primer

Out of battery detonation. Slam fire from sending the bolt forward with the round already forward. Floating firing pin commercial ammunition. Military ammunition has harder primers for use in automatics. When picking up a round from the magazine it slows the bolt down some. Same thing in AR’s. Chamber a round in a AR then pull it out you’ll see what looks like a light primer strike on it. Use the correct ammo you won’t have that problem.
It is called a slam fire. Combined with out of battery detonation. The watermelon prob didn't help anything but i def wouldn't shoot that again until it is fully inspected. 100 agree with that. Def something with the trigger group.

I think you had a hammer follow it’s when the gun think it’s automatic and release the hammer without the trigger reset and when you opened the bolt and closed it like jay said being tht it’s facing down caused the hammer follow and it will cause a out of battery discharge like wat happened here

GHG if u shave down the tips of a bullet it won’t hurt the gun in any way your groups might be less accurate but the gun won’t have no harm so ur good to shave down those rounds 😂 but also the problem with ur gun maybe that the trigger got stuck which caused the hammer to slam as soon as u let go of the bolt
Two things happened. Both your fault. First being a slam fire. The second being high pressure caused by the muzzle being in the dirt.
Slam fire: The floating firing pin hit the primer hard enough to set it off. This is why military ammunition has "hard" primers. Commercial ammo will have a softer primer. As soon as the bolt closed, the firing prin flew forward, and boom! The round went off. Don't shoot commercial ammo in military guns, unless it's specifically made to do so.
Barrel obstruction: You kept shoving the barrel into the ground and water mellon. Eventually, this was going to obstruct the barrel causing all that pressure from firing a round to go right back into the action. Probably bent the receiver too. You just happened to obstruct the barrel while causing a slam fire. Bravo. Never seen that before.
Your trigger pin walked out on you … you either didnt have a retainer or it jumped it
I got a lot of experience with gun smithing in AKs and that was 100% an out of battery discharge and out of spec head spacing. I always use GO/No-GO gauges on my AKs to check head spacing. Especially on Century Arms AKs. That being a Zastava it would take thousands of rounds to warp the head spacing unless it was a dud from the factory which is incredibly rare from Zastava as they have good quality control. I’m thinking that gun has been shot a shit ton
It seems like the bolt might have been off fitted as well. It was out of battery and rubbing and then when it went back into battery with the chambered round the firing pin went into the primer. I’ve had it happen with a Sig
The Zastava m76s and m77s weren’t produced in high quantities like the regular m70 so the quality control on these might not be as good. Plus like I said no telling how old it is. Sometimes you can guesstimate age by the serial number but not always. I’ve actually always wanted one of these in 30-06 or 8mm but I’m rethinking it now haha

Only thing I can assume is since it was barrel to ground when it went off the pressure had nowhere to go but back up in the gun and sent your charging handle and piston back so hard it warped your reciever but truth be told I have no expertise so this jus my opinion

@@jorgeflores9502 to be fair in his most recent vid he explained that the trigger wasn’t resetting completely so it also leads me to believe his trigger wasn’t fully reset so him racking that bullet in dropped the trigger once it was set and then It went off again jus my opinion ik I could be wrong
