Dr Piet Croucamp: DA should be safe in Western Cape; MK Party the wild card in election

  • On 29 May, millions of South Africans will head to the polls in what could be the first national election that sees voters topple the reigning ANC government. On Monday 20 May, Ilse Schoonraad of Group Editors Live interviewed political analyst Dr Piet Croucamp via Zoom about the elections and various factors at play. Croucamp, Associate Professor of Political Studies and International Relations at North West University, says South Africa under President Cyril Ramaphosa's ANC is saturated by corruption and the stats look much worse than during Jacob Zuma's rule. He says to turn things around, South Africans have to get rid of the ANC and the MK Party may well be the wild card. He also says the DA may be safe in the Western Cape.

    Isn't it better to vote for a party with a proven record like the DA in the Cape - they have made the Cape the Province of Choice with enormous odds to deal with...
    1. Unprecedented numbers of job seekers being taxied in with no means of support;
    2. The growth of townships - legal shacks and illegal shacks being erected by ANC supporters in the 'colonial despised government' in the Cape, because their ANC province has very little infrastructure, no jobs, few houses and dire poverty...
    The National Government is loathe to equip more Police Stations in the Cape with enough feet on the ground and resources to meet the inevitable crime rate in the over crowded townships by the gangs who 'govern' the ordinary residents' lives by brutality, fear and control.
    The jealousy of a government without vision, a worthy mission to serve all its people, and a spirit of fairness towards those who innovate, create and produce change for the man, woman in the street.
    Vote for the party, candidate who has really done something, walked the kilometre, sweated and changed a problem into a service for the people.
    God bless all South Africans, Merle.

Amandla in the Nguni languages Xhosa and Zulu means "power"- power which the black voter will not easily relinquish or share with other race groups in the country, no matter how dire the state of affairs in SA.

We have one party with an excellent track record and a whole host of little parties that somehow are supposedly better, with no track records and I harbour a strong suspicion that most of them are opportunists hoping to get just one seat in parliament so the leader of the party can have a good life, and, like the PA, they hope the ANC will need them somewhere so the leader can make even more money by selling seats. The only hope SA has is a strong coalition of real parties, and less of these parties like the PA run by opportunistic charlatans.

    but who was willing from the previous apartheid gov to transfer the skills to the ruling anc? Is it not true that most skilled people preferred to fail the black gov so that it seems unable to function? why was Zuma mocked when he said that the rand was being manipulated? who is now responsible for the manipulation? Mandela and Mbeki didn't have a black agenda in mind that's why they were never seen as criminals but as soon as a person is willing to transform lives of the poor then he is mocked, insulted as a state capturer and a thief. Good guys were brought in to fix load shedding problem in the country and they arrested the problem but what were they called thereafter? State capturers and thieves isn't it? So this country's racial division is a barrier to its progress and success because everyone is pulling to their directions, hating each other and not interested in transferring skills to one another instead we are busy biting and criticising each other. This racial seggregation that spread to economic desperities has to stop. In fact when the man rules over the other it becomes an injury to him.
