This was a great video!!! OMG Milt Abel was one of my heros growing up as a child in KC. Its funny because I thought of him last week. I am going to do a jazz concert at Johnson County Community College in Shawnee KS in January and I chose a song I heard him sing in Liberty MO at a program I was on. I was so honored to meet him and he took time to speak with me. I want you to know that I am going to play and dedicate "Deep River" to him and his legacy in KC. I saw him play in HS years and early college. My band teacher drummer Leon Brady and him were dear friends. I just had to say something when I saw this. I wish you the best. This 13 min. Documentary is better than most movies i have watched. Great cinematography top notch music great story telling and superb mix of emotions. Love it
Heartbreaking. Heartwarming. And many other adjectives. On the happy side, the pictures of the kids at the end made laugh a bit after the sadness in much of the story. Thanks for distributing it.

I LOVED Milt. He was the nicest, sweetest person I've ever known. And making music Milt was a JOY!! A WONDERFUL bass player! I still think about the fun we had when we were working together. And I believe EVERY musician he worked with felt the same.
This gorgeous documentary was a hit at Tribeca. I just visited the website. Breakwater Studios does amazing work.
He honed his craft, as did you. Some careers make a personal life more difficult. We live and learn. We get to be a son or daughter once. I dropped everything, including quitting my job & almost abandoning my husband & daughter to care for my mom for 3 years. Guess what? I still have regrets. I tried so hard to do well that I ended up with caregiver PTSD. Hindsight is 20/20, & we're human. My mom wouldn't want me to feel this way & I think the same could be said for your Dad. He raised you to work hard & take pride in your skill.
Now the shoe's on the other foot. My daughter's moved & is a busy wife, er nurse & new mother. I won't expect her to stop her life to care for me, even at the end. I raised her to fulfill her potential, I would be sad if she gave up what she's worked so hard for to just sit around in an apartment with me...
Seeing the baby brought a tears to my eyes, good for him and his family

I , too, can relate! I was a Pastry Chef here in Phoenix..Worked my way up from small bakeries to high end resorts. I missed every holiday with family (infamous for showing up when everyone was leaving) or, falling asleep, balled up in a corner with my checkered pants and chefs' jacket still on. Quit that life to get an education. I made great connections that I will have till I die...And do I miss that rush if doing a plate-up for over 600 people on a conveyor belt or having to be at work at 3:00am Christmas morning? ABSOLUTELY!! :-)
