Both STL and ATL had no 'hit their 1985 stride' yet the date this game was played. STL eventually got going and found it. They Arguably should have won the 1985 World Series. The Braves getting it together?....well it took until 1991...

The Braves were a veteran team that was on the decline in 1985, having peaked in 1982. Their roster in 1985 was filled with mostly past its prime talent except for Dale Murphy and Bob Horner who were in their prime. The Braves had been contenders in the early 80s and being a veteran team most going into 1985 expected them to be contenders again. Thus why it was mentioned the Braves had yet to get things going.
