    I got the R7 recently and love it above water. I might have to get the housing. My G16 is getting old. I also have an m6 mark ii that might be great. Thanks, got me thinking. Vide looks like Edmonds.

      Close! It was Sund Rock (and a few seconds of keystone) :) The R7 is an awesome camera - it makes us excited to finally be able to offer an affordable camera system with capabilities similar to our higher end professional systems.

    Hi Nirupam, great and informative video as always! Wondering if you have received any news from Sea&Sea whether they plan on releasing a R7 housing?

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před rokem +1

      Hi Jason! We have not heard from Sea & Sea yet, but we do think that it might not be very likely that they will release a housing. This is because they are mostly focusing on full-frame cameras at the moment. But please feel free to reach out to us at sales@bluewaterphotostore.com and we'd be happy to send over some recommendations!

    Hi! Thank you for your review!!! I am a hybrid shooter and I can’t decide between the Sony a6700 vs the R7. My main interest is macro. Thoughts?

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před 3 měsíci

      I might say that they are equally good! It depends on if photo or video is your focus. The A6700 is probably a little better for video.

    Huge thanks to YOU, a person like me who has almost 0 experience in underwater videographer can learn a lot on buying his first professional underwater camera💙.
    I am super excited on getting some fantastic underwater macro footage with R7 here on the cold waters of British Colombia, but when it comes to lens, I am confused.
    What are your thoughts on using the kit lens (18-150mm) for macro and occasional wide shots as well?

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před 10 měsíci

      Of course! We're always happy to help and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) For macro, I highly highly recommend the Canon RF 100mm macro. In my opinion it's the best macro lens on earth - super fast focusing, detailed imagery, and a super macro mode! I personally wouldn't use the 18-150mm kit lens as it cannot focus close enough for macro photography. However, with some housing combinations you could consider putting the 18-45mm kit lens behind a flat port and use that with a wet macro lens (diopter) like the Bluewater +7. If you'd like help figuring out the best port and lens combinations, please email us at sales@bluewaterphotostore.com and we'd be happy to help!

    Thank you for the great review. What is your view on the canon RF 14-35mm lense for the R7 or R10.

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před rokem +1

      The RF15-35mm is an awesome lens! But because you have the APS-C crop factor with the R7 and R10 it won't be very wide. So it would be a better lens for portraits. Generally I like the Tokina 10-17mm fisheye as the best wide angle option for the R10 and R7. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions!

    Hi Nirupam, thanks for the informative video. I wanted to know your opinion between the OM1 v R7 for underwater? I shoot an R5 above water but want to upgrade my Olympus EM1 mk2 for underwater work. I'm interested in the comparisons between the AF/tracking between the two and it seems the OM1 video white balance is lacking? Cheers.

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi Craig! Good questions - Personally I agree with your assessment. You're going to have much better autofocus tracking and white balance with the Canon R7. That would be my camera of choice over the OM1. Hope that helps and feel free to reach out with any more questions :)

    Hi mate. Great review. How did you shoot photo? Through the EVF or from the back of screen? And if so how did you change settings for shutter etc through EVF

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před rokem

      Thanks! The nice thing about mirrorless cameras (vs DSLRs) is that the autofocus is the same through the EVF and LCD....so I shot through the LCD for all of my shooting. It saves on the expense and size of needing a magnified viewfinder (unless you need it for composition or if you're visually impaired and struggle with the LCD). That said, I've shot through EVFs on other mirrorless cameras before. Your exposure and autofocus settings will be the same. The nice thing is, if you keep your eye on the viewfinder, you'll be able to see your settings change and review your shots the same way you would on your LCD. So I just keep my eye on the viewfinder when I shoot and have no problem shooting. You will need to set your camera so that it is either on LCD or Viewfinder - it won't switch automatically - but you can set a custom button as well to switch quickly. Hope that helps!

      @@BluewaterPhotoStore thanks so much guys! looking through the EVF (with the R7) I have not been able to work out how to change settings for shutter / iSO or aperture (with the housing on) do you have any hints?!

      @@saltdiaries Try hitting the info button while looking through the EVF and you should see different display modes (hopefully one will show you the settings you are looking to see). Hope that helps!

    Hello Nirupam, I just purchased the R7 with the RF 14-35 setup. Can you possibly share any suggestions on how to best setup the camera for underwater in combination withe the Ikelite housing?

      That's great! Congrats on your underwater camera system. Here is our article on the best R7 underwater settings: www.bluewaterphotostore.com/canon-r10-r7-underwater-settings/
      While the Canon R5 is not 100% like the R7, it's pretty close. I would recommend checking out our R5 settings video: czcams.com/video/sIubI1Oh3Ek/video.html

    how's the custom WB workflow in video mode? thats my biggest question lol

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před 7 měsíci

      If you are in photo mode you can actually go a custom white balance just by hitting the white balance menu in your Q menu and clicking the center button to lock it - like Sony. Unfortunately in video mode, you still need to take a picture of your slate and set it in the main menu which is a bit cumbersome.

    using the suggested zoom gear, my tokina 10-17mm does not fit through the front of the housing. The spring loaded zoom clamp makes the lens too wide to fit through the housing. Have you encountered this issue?

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hi Will! If you are referring to the Ikelite housing, you will need to load the lens from the front when you have the zoom gear attached. The tabs on the lens should line up with the slots on the gear. We hope this helps! Feel free to send us an email at support@bluewaterphotostore.com for more info

    Hello, I have the R5 and there is a option to change the buttons to switch between viewfinder and screen. I got the R7 for my wife (She like the smaller DLM housing), and I do not see a way to do this? Is it just screen or viewfinder in the housing??? Thanks for the review!!!

      Hi David, it's been a little while since I've reviewed the menu, but I believe if you go to the yellow customization menu, and you select "customize buttons", you should be able to select a button to switch between viewfinder and lcd. I hope that helps! - Nirupam

    Are you using the 100mm macro with that dome port? Thanks!

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před rokem +1

      The 100mm macro is used with a flat port as flat ports give you an additional 30% magnification. If you need any help putting ports together for an R7 housing, we're happy to help! Feel free to email sales@bluewaterphotostore.com with any questions about this.

      What do you think for macro or super macro better the canon R5, R6II or the R7? I also do a lot macro on land?

    • @BluewaterPhotoStore
      @BluewaterPhotoStore  Před rokem +1

      @@susannewerner8462 That's a hard choice! The R5 and R7II are definitely the two top contenders (with built in in-body image stabilization and a higher resolution for cropping). Ultimately it comes down to what lenses you want to use and if you like photos with more or less bokeh. With the crop factor, even though the R7 is less resolution than the R5, the pixel size will be similar for both cameras. So image quality should be roughly the same - but you will get more bokeh in your images with the R5 at an equivalent aperture with the R7. If you like the Canon 60mm macro, then I would recommend the R7. If you prefer to shoot the 100mm macro, than the R5 will be slightly easier to shoot than the R7. Ultimately there is significant cost savings with the R7 which could make it worth it. I hope that helps and feel free to reach out to sales@bluewaterphotostore.com with additional questions.
