    No hook just bending a string and it’s the most powerful moment in all of music

      That was the sub headline title on my old music blog. I consider this to be the "perfect" example of an emo song. Some of the most honest lyrics ever

    I remember this so well...such a great show and a great fest that really embodied the scene at the time. Mineral, Sense Field, a young Boy Sets Fire, and then Coalesce, Frail (or were they the year before)...and I could go on. That was the scene at the time.but dont fool yourself, all kids talked about was the old days. I saw Hot Water Music play to 15 people. I saw Texas is the Reason play to 20. Enjoy what you have today kids- someday ppl will be posting videos of the shows you missed too

    I have a VHS copy of this whole set, along with Jimmy Eat World who went on just after this. I need to digitize it and get it up here. This was such an amazing weekend for me. Changed the course of my life.

    one of my favorite shows i ever played was with mineral in 1995. some basement in indiana. we were a metal/emo band, they were one of the best things i had seen. the show just worked, two emotional bands, both very different from each other. that was probably the coolest thing about the hardcore/indie scene back then. i didn't matter what kind of music it was, if there was passion kids generally flocked to it. miss those days. miss this band.

    This song will always define the genre of "emo" to me. This is the ultimate form of putting emotion into music. I will always hold it extremely close to heart.

    I was just a baby when this whole scene was happening, not to mention I lived nowhere near the midwest. I wish I could have witness it. I actually had a chance to see the promise ring last year, but I didn't know of this genre at the time. Cap'n Jazz, Knapsack, Mineral, and American Football are my favorites.

    So lucky to see this band... I was too young in the 90s to go see them. Ugh we need bands like sunny day real estate, mineral and american football touring now.

  • @ThePistonHonda
    @ThePistonHonda Před 13 lety +2

    this was such a magic time in music. you're right crayola...there was no look to this scene. i can remember going to all these "emo" shows, and it didn't matter...the promise ring, sunny day, texas is the reason, jimmy eat world, mineral...different sounds, everybody just being themselves and loving the music. we watched the genre get highjacked with high fashion and watered down versions and found most of us didn't fit in anymore. but thats ok. can always say we were there in the beginning.

    LOL. I fucking hated Mineral, see, because I was a "hardcore" kid growing up, yeah? Get this fucking emo shit out of here. Hearing it grown.................. I was a tool. This is good music.
    I feel sorry for you youngsters that missed the whole music movement that occured in the 90's. No matter what you're into, there were so many music kids doing so many different things. It truly was a sick time to have a cassette/CD/record player.

    Don't remember the date. I used to have all the flyers from that tour, but have since lost them. I know it was in August '95 in Bloomington, Indiana in some basement where there were couches, rad kids, and a lot of emotion. Don't know of any videos that exist. I've looked for old vids of the band I was in (Surface) and never find much. Good times...
