    OPR saved the hobby for me. I was so sick of a certain other companies meta churning and feeling like I had to relearn the game everytime I played. I subbed to OPR and started 3d printing in 2021 and haven't looked back.

    • @kyesniper

      I was in a similar boat. All my friends play 40k and sigmar and I couldn't get into it with the price of the models. For less than the price of one army I got like 3 armies from OPR and a 3D printer setup.
      I won't spend $2000 on plastic toys, but I'll happily spend $800 on a printer that can do more than just mini models. I use it for everything lol

Discovered OPR one day and their Grimdark Future rules so i bought myself a printer and 3 armies later my wife and I play and enjoy it so much! ☺

      Bonus, all the rules they do have solo / coop mode so you can play versus an "AI" enemy. I saw a video where a guy put it to the test by having both sides play by the AI rules and it still gave a good, tense game.

    Loving OPR and their choices of miniatures. I started with a free stl model of their webpage, printed it out and fell in love with it! I’m currently building a Da Vinci army for both HotT and KoW using their figures. The fact you can scale them down and lot loose and real detail is just awesome! And playing mini hammer using the KoW rules (they are used as KoM), is just perfect for me. Thank you for sharing this vid with us all, love the channel and all you do and have done over the years! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    I'm a OPR patreon and i couldn't be happier about it, their models are absolutely stunning and easy to paint, and like you said it is a major advantage that they offer both combined models and bits models. On the first month I was sure that i'll be a patreon for a long long long time.

    I have wanted to get into miniature wargaming for a while but wasn't really ever drawn to the major games (and couldn't afford it even if I was). One Page Rules and 3d printing have allowed me to engage in a hobby I love in the way I like and works best for me (I have plans for like 8 different armies currently and it actually seems doable instead of causing me to go bankrupt from buying plastic from big companies).
    Thanks, Luke, for providing content that covers this side of the hobby and gives inspiration to gamers and painters like me. It is appreciated.

    It's worth noting that their pre-supported models print just fine on my Ender 5 Pro (fdm printer) once you get your settings dialed in. Am I going to have models in White Dwarf magazine this way (humble brag)? Nope, but I feel pretty confident that I can take these rats that I've printed and score very high/well above average painting scores at a KoW GT with MOSTLY FDM printed models. Just cheap as chips they are and makes the hobby so much fun. Highly recommend.

    • @mandasity

      Been on the fence for a while years ago until the price became comfortable enough to dip my toes into a new hobby and haven't looked back since. The freedom is insane. Resize and rescale models? Sure. As good or better artists compared to the biggest names in the business? Absolutely. Unique minis only available if you use a printing service or print it yourself. Price per mini? Affordable and competitive, honestly cheaper once you print enough. The freedom to mix and match is amazing, not only could you use your old minis for mini agnostic games like OPR, but you could print and paint alternatives to minis and games available already. Imagine 'better looking' and cheaper space marines than much of GW's offerings. Into TTRPG's like DnD like me? The market is absolutely flooded with options and variety both fantasy and scifi. It's also just a great feeling to be able to purchase a file online, have it printed hours later, and hold a new mini in my hand same day without leaving my house. I can't recommend it enough. The tech keeps improving and prices keep dropping so even the cheapest resin printers pack a TON of value. On that note I would avoid fdm/pla printers for detailed minis and only use them for larger objects like terrain/vehicles, or for things outside the mini hobby like prototyping, cosplay, prop making, functional parts, etc. I haven't seen anything in our shared hobby that revolutionized it this much as I did with 3d printing and I dare you to challenge that, wet palettes and paint shakers be damned! Good luck and happy holidays!

    • @guardsmen2945
      @guardsmen2945 Před rokem +1

      I bought one after eyeing 3d printing for years and I regret not doing it sooner, between being cheaper and easier to get great quality models/armies at any time you want. But for me the biggest thing I love is that I decided to play at 15mm which means scaling everything down by about 50% to play games, all that means rules wise is just hafting measurements and such which has made wargaming even better since terrain can be smaller but so can the boards. All and all, regardless of any difficulties with 3d printing they have been easily outweighed by the positives 10 fold.

    Been following OPR for two years and Patreon last year. Amazing models and great rulesets. Quick, balanced and far more player interaction for a game that's about 2 players having a game. No turn 1 kill because GeeW says use whole army before opponent gets to have a turn. 100% switched gaming systems, and with new sister models on bikes being released January, I'll get to finish an army I've been dreaming off since 1997.

    To be one of the biggest downfalls of GW models can be the masses of extenious details. Ammo pouches, pendants, dangly bits galore. They don't add much to the model when viewed, as they often are, from arms length, but add loooads to the paint time.
    I remember painting Empire state troops and it was an absolute slog because of this!
