Another great video to watch. If you can find it is made by Norton. It’s the seven factors of grinding.

Thank you for a great video. Just a question - what wheel would you recommend for a manual surface grinder ?.
there are 7 factors when choosing a grinding wheel
since i do not know what you would like to cut
I can not tell you what you should get
if I wanted a general use wheel aluminum oxide (A) medium grain (46) medium bond (i to s) structure medium (7 to 11) bond type Vitrified (V)
Soo profound.
Absolutely awesome information to a noob like me. One last item I'm missing is dressing the wheel. Do we dress all and are there different dressers for different wheels? :D
There are multiple different dressing methods. It also depends on the type of wheel that you have for your standard aluminum oxide which is your white grinding wheel?
Truing and dressing are done at the same time with a diamond bit
On a diamond wheel or CBN wheel truing and dressing are not done at the same time in most cases
True a diamond or CBN will you will use a break dresser to true that same wheel. You will use dressing sticks to dress the wheel. If you look under my videos, I do have a diamond wheel dressing video.
Hopefully this answers your question.
Ray
Where could I get a diamond wheel like the one you used at the end of the video when you put the radius on the carbide toolbit? What are the specs on it and about how much would that cost please? Thank you.
Before you switch to a diamond wheel I highly suggest you watch my video how to dress a Dimond wheel dress
You can get cheap diamond wheels on Amazon for under $100 Don’t buy a diamond wheel getting dressing sticks
Your wheel will not cut without it
Ray
Thank you, that was very instructive.
A couple of questions:
Other than GC, will C and/or AZ and/or ASD and/or SD sharpen Carbide tools?
Are the grain sizes you listed approximately equivalent to the standard grits of abrasive paper?
I would only personally recommend CBN or diamond
the price has come down to the point that its affordable now
you will have more control and accuracy in your cut
There are more grit sizes available for paper then grinding wheels
you should get the close to the same finish with the same paper verses grinding wheel
