Dark Souls 2 was my first ever souls game I played back when I was in High School and enjoyed every moment of it. What I wouldn't give to go back and do it again.
literally same, the community back then was something i don’t see anymore in the future soul games. i was literally able to get all dlc weapons and armor through trading from fight club without paying for dlc someone even gifted me the rings that made your weapons invisible. miss it so much

But it's a real thing - I think anyone whose played DS2 in its prime noticed that, despite that game's flaws, it was much more fun to play online in that game. I think it comes down to the people, and their behavior was definitely shaped by some important design choices. I actually think Soul Memory did something really good for the online community, hard to believe as it is!
Based af comments, ds2 died twice just so elden ring can be praised like the carrion bird it is. Original fight clubs were the shit, and you'd get dogged on if you used meta/spam/cringe. Late night Iron keep FC's and arena grinds to get darker auras were the shit. AND soul memory was sick cuz you'd never get owned by a max character dude who one shots. I'll always have fond memories of ds2 and ds2 sotfs 🫡

Looks like no lessons were learned from DS1 - dark magic is still OP as fuck, even more than in DS1 actually. Projectile is much faster, has more range, and deals 3k damage? Seems balanced alright.

It's not just that particular spell. There are a lot of hexes out there that do a crap load of damage and can be used in succession. I've been one shot by other ones also.
First off, did you not notice how much HP all of those people had? I'm glad they have all these Miracles/Hexes that damn near 1 shot everyone (excluding Climax) so we can deal with all the cheaters. Also there's a damn good reason why Climax 1 shots everyone, because it consumes up to 2m souls (I think, don't quote me on that). It should 1 shot people with that price! Edit: Just realized it's showing the full damage, not the HP of the player, still a bit used to DkS 1. Regardless, the majority of those player still had around 3k HP.
You know how easy it is to avoid magic with one roll? And the more wide spread magic deals a lot less damage. On top of that hex takes souls away from you. Sooooo.... Yes it is balanced.

yeah totally, it's not like you get more than 5k souls for winning an invasion (5k and up gives max damage I believe) and it one shots everyone either way, it's not OP at all *note the sarcasm* I really don't see any risk to using climax since you're already set souls wise for the next invasion. people don't see it coming, they expect a GRS so they time their rolls wrong, or in this video don't see it coming. it's a certain win and I don't see the point in people using it. it's seriously pressing one button to win and that's it.
xSTW Climax has the same casting time as GRS so rolling away is really simple, and it's still more balanced that most hexes (GRS only 500 souls for 800-1000 damage, dark fog and bat staff).
This was a great use of climax. The worst is when they have affinity cast and run up to you, make you dodge affinity (which is tough for me in general) and then cast climax. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to dodge /; 10/10 from soft.
This isn't OP and for a simple reason... you only have 1 shot with a fully powered Climax and you can't fuel your other hexes. 3000 damage with a buffed dagger on the other hand... Well, this video has given me inspiration for some insta-kill trolling videos, thanks Oroboro. :D

Climax is nowhere near OP, it may one shot but if u were taking noticing to Brandon's soul counter they were completely drained it uses ALL of your souls in one cast that's why he was always targeting the host.
TheGreatAngel Well, it IS OP since after you get to the SL with the stats and upgrades that you want souls become useless. After I beat the game I had around 200k souls that I used to buy random shit and I still got 120k. And it's not as if they were hard to get.
Gabressan Well, rolling isn't very hard. The value of souls isn't the thing here but the fact that you don't have them after 1 cast is. If you miss your only cast things can go really bad as you can see in the video.

You guys wanna know the best way to take care of a hexer (or any spellcaster)? Keep a distance and let them spam. Most mages are stupid and spam their most powerful spells instantly, keep a distance and no matter how fast they can cast you will be able to dodge, and doge, and doge. Yes, it's boring, but it's effective, they also tend to suck at melee so anybody with decent combat sense will murder a caster in melee. The only time climax is "OP" is if you are caught unaware like in the video.
