  • We really enjoy our full-sized truck, and you probably do too! Trucks are hard-working, versatile, and lately, REALLY comfortable. Do you know what they ARE NOT? Easy to reach the windshield, the top of the cab, or the engine bay or truck bed from the side, that’s what!
    Tire Steps solve this. A relative newcomer to the consumer market, these superb devices have been in use in the automotive service industry for a long time, and now they are readily available. While these devices can fit all the way down to a small car, they are especially appealing to us that are enjoying the Truck Life!
    The model we feature was purchased on Amazon for about $30, arrived in a compact box with no damage and was set up in about 3 minutes. The first install, you’ll need to make 3 adjustments: how wide of a tire you’ll be mounting the step on; how high up you want the step to be above the ground, and how far in or out you want the bumper pads that rest against the wheel to be. Simple.
    The unit is lightweight (about 11-½ pounds) and compact, easy to move from tire to tire as needed, and folds up compactly afterward. You’ll need to be a bit careful when it folds, as it’s possible to pinch a finger. The paint is nice, and it looks good. The step itself is wide enough to feel secure and to allow you to stand naturally, with the surface being anti-slip with a serious “cheese-grater” surface.
    We made one small improvement to the unit, and it cost us about $2 to do so. The bolts with the rubber tips that rest against the front of the tire or wheel tend to “un-adjust” themselves while the unit is being transported around in the back of your truck. We added another nut and washer to lock the thread in place and there have been no issues since.
    We think this is a serious asset to our enjoyment of our Truck Life. To find one, visit Amazon, and search for “All Trade 647596 Truck Tire Service Step”.
    Enjoy Truck Life!

    I am definitely vertically challenged and although I love having a truck, it can be a real pain trying to reach anything in the truck bed. I just went to Amazon and ordered one! Thank you so much for this video, I had never heard of a truck tire service step before.

    At this time and Date, Feb 7 2020, the same items cost 52$ on Amazon Canada.

  • @Shadow_Banned_Conservative

    Wow, what a difference a little over two years makes inflation-wise. You paid $30 for this tire step? Amazon wants $70 for this piece in 2022. I'd love to have two of these to make an elevated walkway to use when washing the top of the SUV, not sure I can justify the price though. I also have some concern about large wheels. A lot of trucks and SUVs have 20 or 22 inch wheels from the factory now. Does this step fit those larger wheel/tire combos safely, or is there just not enough to grab on the back of the tire with the larger wheels and tires?

    • @DirtFarmerJay
      @DirtFarmerJay  Před 2 lety

      Jim, thanks for writing. Indeed, price increases, supply chain challenges and record inflation is really taking a bite out of our buying power. Wow, that's quite an increase. I'll take a look at the unit and estimate the maximum sized tire it will accommodate and I'll get back to you. Best, DFJ
