    You are 100% right.
The first battle, could have been a little bit more extensive. I thought you could have mentioned the attack of the prussian cavalry in the west, that should have been against the order given by Hindenburg and Ludendorf.
But your video about the battles in East-Prussia is one of the best I ever saw here on YT!
I am born in East-Prussia and my grandmother's farm was in the village where the first bullets of the Tannenberg Battle have been shot. As little child I heart much about the battles on this fields of both world wars.
The curios was that in both battles always the opponent in the better and higher position lost against the other attacking opponent coming from the north and having to cross a huge free and nearly plan field before reaching the defenders on an 40m higher ground.
That told me, that there will not only be the well planed order from the officers that can decide a battle but much more it is the brave and the reason why the soldiers themself are going into fight and waging their lives. I think this is much stronger than any order. If someone fights for their loved ones. So in both battles on this ground the history chose the right side to win.
Thank you very much for your great work.
I liked your tactical videos, so I follow your channel for few years. Till now I did not know, that you are although so interested in the first WW

An even less known campaign in WWI was the East African Campaign. Very interesting to learn about actually, especially if you're into guerrilla warfare tactics.

I think that not enough gravitas was given to German General Hermann von Francois, who without he's successes Tannenberg wouldn't have been so decisive

Mackensen was super underrated, in the shadow of Hindenburg. Everywhere he went, he scored for his team.
I too had a huge ww1 book that was about as big as my fist and it was written in the 20s. It was of course biased towards the allies but it painted a pretty dire picture of the situation the allies were in prior to the United States deciding that a perhaps fabricated letter from one man to another was justification for total war.

    • @bastionblackperformance3804

I did not misspeak. The reason that almost the entire imperial German army was in the west was because they determined they could defeat France faster than Russia could fully mobilize and that Russia was a much greater threat given the size of their army, population, and access to resources.

@@bastionblackperformance3804 Russia was never considered a serious military threat to the German army, as events proved. The two front war was certainly a nuisance, and the Germans could never decide which front to focus on, but France and Britain were always considered the more serious threat

    • @bastionblackperformance3804

@ciroalb3 Von Moltke the Younger explicitly writes that after Russian reforms and investments in rail infrastructure following the Russo Japanese war, that victory in a Franco Russian entente can only be achieved by knocking France out in the first weeks of the war, redeployment of 25% of the army to the east, and a decisive campaign against Russia before they can be fully mobilized and turned into a war footing. The Russian Empire was always the biggest threat and the primary German worry in the west was the French being dug into their frontier forts and slowing the war down too much. The British were never a high concern.

While there's some things I appreciate about the French, they remain one of my least favorite European countries. I'm not sure why their language is considered to be so beautiful and romantic? To me, it's a bit of an ear sore and they have no idea how to spell but then I'm biased as a Spanish speaker. What I mostly dislike is their prevailing aethiestic Freemasonic and communist liberalism. Just my 2 ¢ on your comment on the French.
