Can we keep a scav community that is reasonably non-toxic and actually let’s people play the game? Apparently not because it’s “In the lore”… “I’m just playing a lore accurate scav I swear!”
Personally, I don't want to kill other scavs regardless of my rep, which leaves you very vulnerable. Half the time it works out, but the other has you getting killed at extract by some traitor scav you've been running round the map with for the last ten minutes.

traitor scavs should be banned from playing scav, or be put in servers with other traitor scavs for the rest of the wipe. That way they can all be lore accurate together.
Extra tip that works as of right now:
If you go to your Overall tab and switch the stats to SCAV - observe the "total cost of all items in stash"
When filtered for SCAV this shows an approx value of items that are ON your next scav
If you see an unusually high number - this means he will have something good in his pockets, so you might want to choose to go to a small map like Factory to extract quickly

@@TrTriTrippin well same here, and this was not in the game I believe before last wipe? Idk, but back in the days the SCAV filter in that menu was disabled altogether, you could only see your scav stats in raid

Also use the "F1!" voice- command when playing as a scav and you hear someone else but can't see them yet.
If they reply with "F1", they are 95% friendly scav.
If you don't get response, it's 99% a PMC.
bonus tip, if you have something good gear as a scav, don't show it to other player scavs.
I wish someone told me those tips when I was a new player, sadly I had to learn them the hard way.
Yeah, thats the advice I give others. Basically if you find a geared guys kit as a scav or just armor/weapons that really stand out, you need to expect that many players scavs - especially at a distance - might attempt to kill you. It happened last night to me for example, two guys both thought, I tried to warn them and they blew their scav karma by failing their kills on me. Pay attention!
i have tarkov since 2019 and i am still a noob because of the very long breaks in between.
thank you a lot for these fantastic tutorials! i watched every single one of them and i got a lot better in Tarkov since.
Same, I switched over to SPT because of this very reason. Only way I could play without hiding in a bush for 20 minutes was to down alcohol but as it turns out getting plastered does not help with decision making so I died EVEN more.
I wanna say thanks to you and the guides you and other creators put out I’ve been doing well enough on tarkov, I had my first good fight with pmc on streets at night. 2- two man squads both in clans back to back. Felt so great ended up with 18 kills in total, 4 pmcs and the rest scavs. It was nice

Yeh me too... I got to get this Scav rep sorted im waiting for 45 mins per Scav run as my rep is FKD LOL :)
You can't stress enough usefulness of the voice chat, especially as a scav. You can coordinate with friendlies, parlay with PMCs, or simply ask other scavs for the items you need. It works, people, set-up and use your VoIP!
I miss the days before scav rep and voip where it was a lawless land, and all we had was the wiggle and a prayer. That being said, voip is one of the best additions they have ever made.
I dont miss those days at ALL. So many scav runs with a 2 second life span due to spawn with other scavs and they shoot you even before you open your eyes. Also, having boss killed by player scavs by them just walking up to them. Nope, glad that is long gone.

My first full wipe was when scav rep was added. I didn't know. Dropped my scav rep below zero killing ai and harvesting kits to die with as I learned the game. That event they did that wipe where if you had below zero scav rep you were agro to scavs is still in my mind. I had zero idea what was going on. I was only like -.5 or something and just spawning in and dying. LOL. The learning curve back then was wayyy stepper than it is now.
i did a co-op extract on streets with 3 pmc's and 9 or 10 player scavs, best clip ive ever had

Problem is, I flipping love being a Scav, just noodling around the maps, helping people find specific loot and convincing PMCs to extract with me.

Or when someone has trust issue and really wants to kill you.. Just scav army them or actually get a outplay, and take out a duo of juicers.. Even more satisfying because it's god damn embarressing for them xD

My scav is my main as a new player, bc this damn game's been out too long and everyone can smoke you unless you play like a mole as pmc. Way more rewarding from a map learning and money-making point, so that's where I'm at, sadly
I pretend to be a scav. I say friendly things to scavs and then betray them when they turn their back on me. It's actually super satisfying
If you're that stressed out, I often tell my friends that, particularly if they feel they can't outgun most players, that its better to voip and TRY and diffuse the situation before they just silent v silent assume you're both aggressive. Yeah, many times it won't work, but it's better to have tried than have a really overgeared guy stomp you rather than give you a pass for being new/low gear/etc. I have plenty of times let guys go as long as they draw their knife or throw a gun and run off
@Yarumasi see, I really liked that you could use VOIP in Tarkov, and I used it right off. And after 4 PMC raids (I know, not a lot, but that was one of my whole weekend days) and no body talked back, just shot. But on scav, everybody talks and is helpful.
I know most of this comes down to playing as a casual and solo. Just pointing out it can be hard to learn the maps when you're new now, playing PMC.
@@hokiehi1000 Definitely. We are in a "sound meta", so, sadly, kills come from sound more than sight 90% of the time. Its a delicate act for many to learn the game/maps.
If you hotkey the command Spread out and Follow me on your scav (it is different than pmc voice binds) you can tell scavs to follow and then spread out and repeat it and kinda have a small army of scavs searching for PMC I have killed many pmc this way by overwhelming them with AI scavs that allowed me to get the kill. Super cool feature.
So u have +6 scav karma?
@@user-ye2vn4dh8h I do only follow command requires high karma. When you tell them to spread out they just run different directions and I have been using that since day one of this wipe.
But you can have maximum 1 scav and they have their own patrol territory. They won't follow you for long distance.

Love this guide, and I know you dont use your scav that much when playing Pest but I would have loved to see where all the extraction points for the scavs on the maps. I know that would have took alittle longer but that is some of the most important info you could have let us know. Keep up the great work on the guides and great content Pest. I'll be watching. I'll be kind here. Interchange is phenomenal as a scav. You can do a great loot run in 10-20 minutes. Pull 500k-1.5 million easily. EASILY. Best time is witching hour. You want that window between evening and night and night and morning. Most people bounce fast because they are prepared for say evening but not the pitch black. I've pulled so many Tetris and GPUs out of there. I'm not kidding. I get farming part 4 done every wipe with no struggle just by pulling GPUs as a scav. Within the last week I've pulled over 10. I had stopped playing this wipe. I was level 20 and had about 3 million on hand. I'm now 26 and 17 million. Learn interchange. Run it in the window I said and you'll thank me. I use to run shoreline stash runs back in the day. Then everyone started doing it. Now with DyNaMiC loot stash runs aren't very viable. Night the stashes seem to be far more static though. FYI.

dude i spawned in a scav with a t-bag that had : 1x Metal Fuel Tank, 1x Trimadol injector, 45k rubles. i know its nothing insane but its pretty damn cool. my rep ~ 4.00 (3.88)

If you got 6.0 rep it's worth it to go check boss spawns. But other than that factory is the only map you can do and still have a 50% chance your teammate will shoot you.

About the run through thing, if you need to extract ASAP as a scav, just go to an extraction, wait untill your hunger and water to drop to less than 100 and you are good to go.

The cap for scav rep penalty is 2.1 now, so if you have really high rep like 10 it will not throw you beneath 6 instantly
scav runs are great for farming up Machinery or Unknown key on Customs. I built up a stockpile of each before trying for Extortionist or Background Check (still haven't been able to complete Extortionist, but -shrug-)
Raiders on reserve count as scav kills for fence as wel and do not hurt your rep.
A small suggestion: in wipes add new quests and create a filter (new quests, old quests or both). I'm tired of playing the same quests after each new wipe.
Why would they make it harder to get rep later in the wipe? All that does is hamstring newer players
they dont make it harder, hes implying most players near end of wipe aren't worried about gaining rep at that stage in the game, making co op extracts alot harder due to most pmcs left just wanting to boss run and get out or just pvp, usually resulting in instant aggression from most players. Atleast thats what i took from it anyway lol.
Interchange scaving if for money, factory is for the rep and labs access cards (imo ofc)

I sometimes used SCAV to get quest keys so PMC has more chances of doing the quest.

Scaved on customs once. Went to stronghold. Got shot at immediately, so I flick over and headshot the guy. It was Reshala.
I accidentaly killed another scav as a scav, he was a traitor I didn't know that😂 got some free scav rep. I hope bsg adds more ways to gain scav rep because right now I think the ways we have a re tedious and not consistent.
Eh not that hard gpt max rep last wipe in under 80 hours, doing all cars already gets u like 3.0 not including co-op or raids and pmc kills
Scav rep is insane for lucky scav junk box, jist doing the 95k one lets me earn up to 500k every hour. Also fence is AWESOME 8k vogs pretty frequently and cheap high storage backpacks.
I'm fairly new to tarkov and have been using scavs alot to learn ground zero. At around 2.5 rep and have spawned with 16 lab keys so far. Doubt I'm gonna go to labs but when i get flea i csn sell them. On a typical ground zero i walk out with 100k minimum which might be good or bad don't know xD

Unless it's changed recently, I was able to kill scavs while having the "kill scavs" quest without losing rep.
I run scav to give my main a chance to hydrate. And to get good random loot
I always save my grizzly med kits to fix me up after a bad raid. Saves me money rather than using therapist after a raid.

Scaving is probably my favorite part of this game. I don’t care for the pvp and wish I could play offline mode and keep the loot.
The new $250 edition lets You do this. Also the SPTarkov mod allows this

Do not take the BTR as a scav, I did when I first joined and took a ride. After I exited the BTR all scavs were agro to me
I only use my scav to rush right out to sell everything for a quick cash injection when i wait for friends
Seems slow way to make money, just rush lighthouse raiders and extract. 5minutes and always get 300-700k

Anyone know how scav karma works in groups? If a teammate kills a scav, do I lose rep and become a traitor too?
They aggro to you too, but you lose karma if you personally kill scavs

the cheaper car extract is such a non issue, 5k roubles isnt much even at the games beginning, and when you get high enough karma to make a meaningfull impact, you likely already have the docs case which can fit as much money as you want anways
I think it's more that you can grab about 1500 roubles in raid fairly easily if you hit a couple of cash registers, whereas 5k is harder to come across reliably. I appreciate that once you reach a certain point you can have the docs case in your pouch every raid. It might be harder for standard tier players to do that though with the space constraints.
It would be nice if scav rep reduced the car countdown
It's not really meant for a solo, that's why it has four slots. Who's rep do you base the cool down on? The highest or the lowest? What if one guy triggers it and then at 10 seconds left three others join and say it resets the timer or readjusts based the other guys reps?
It's fine that it's a consistent set time as that's fair for the whole map.

Actually, it seems more like "all about SCAV rep".
using your SCAV is a different process. You can use your SCAV when your PMC recovers a bit. You can use a SCAV to collect pickup items for quests. Using a SCAV aggressively to pick up the things you need to build out your hideout, or complete early game tasks can really help to boost you up. Also, early wipe PMCs are much more willing to use shared extracts, so do as much as you can on every map that offers them to get rep and rewards (often quite good). SCAVs are also good if you have a new quest you haven't done before and want to go scout out a location or destination live. No penalty for dying!
Here's a tip. Just stop playing until the the consistent character is in the game
