  • (22 Oct 2015) British Prime Minister David Cameron treated Chinese President Xi Jinping to a meal of fish and chips at a British pub in the village of Ellesborough on Thursday evening.
Local media has reported that Xi and his delegation were keen to sample the traditional dish since arriving in the UK three days ago.
During their visit at the The Plough and Cadsden, the two leaders were also greeted by locals having a drink at the pub.

China are the epitome of “too good to be true”. They can be great trade partners with low cost, helping to boost a nations’ economy. They’ll also pay for and help build infrastructure, particularly in underdeveloped countries, just like they have done recently in Kenya, building a new railway. The monthly amount Kenya have to pay back is $1 million, which is proving rather expensive for the African nation. It is in other words, economic coercion. As China expands its influence in a country and its economy, the more control they have over the government, and what that government can say or do. If Beijing disapprove of something, they’ll let you know right away; a swift reminder to stay in check. The more a nation is reliant on China economically, the further into the net they fall. As with Kenya, China will pay for it initially, but they’ll expect highly profitable repayments later. Should China choose to pull the plug on the Kenyan railway project, it will financially cripple the country. It is a partnership like man and dog, and China is not the dog. New Zealand is a nation that is economically within China’s grip. The country’s PM, Jacinda Ardern, made comments in parliament recently following criticism from the other 5 eyes allies about New Zealand not standing with the alliance in condemning China for its human rights abuses. Her comments were highly censored and carefully written, never explicitly naming China. Regardless, Beijing did not take kindly to it; she hasn’t commented on the matter since. Ultimately, one must take China with a pinch of salt. Xi Jinping plays chess, not checkers. And naivety in chess = checkmate.
