I put my crawlmaster mini esc in my ecto powering a 2200kv revolver. What a setup! So much nicer than the micro x 1. I want a few cm minis and a few micro x 2s too.
Still loving the Element Enduro - Such a good rig even in stock form.
@@edsadventures3575 Yes. I have a RTR version. Stock apart from wheels and tyres. Also have the Builders kit with a Hilux body. Awesome rigs!
@@scottwalsh6999 that’s awesome. I bought the Gmade buffalo pickup kit. And I have a trx4. Element has my eye now… haha
@@edsadventures3575 I have a Sendero HD too. Great truck out of the box and easy to make even more capable. Watching rc-tnt's videos about it, and his comparisons to other rigs sealed it for me. Install the optional 11% OD gears and don't look back. Combine that with the good steering angle on the Element axles, and you'll be a happy camper on tighter gated courses
@@Andy_Yates thanks! Always love other peoples perspectives. I don’t have friends in the hobby.
I own many crawlers but I love the element. Such a fun lil truck
rig on the rocks.... great video!
you drive like me , just move the rock as I go lol rubbins' crawlin'
I just got my micro x2 last Saturday. 2 runs on 3s and 4s with a 2700kv crawlmaster and it works great. Definitely a fantastic combo.
I have it with the slate 2280. I've been running mine on 3s with stock pinion on gatekeeper and it doesn't even get warm. I want to try 4s but wonder why castle says they don't recommend that kv combo with 4s
That’s on the box because they don’t know we’re those combos are going to end up, for instance a TRX4 loaded down with brass or any other heavyweight truck will lead to Overheating the esc or motor or both
@@nathansmith1967 I ran mine on 4s for 45 minutes. Not even a little bit warm. Try it but keep an eye on the temps.
@@garrettdorr1093 yea I'm ordering a 4s right now. My last data log of a full battery run on 3s maxed out at 96f lol with stock 18t pinion. Probably because I think the gatekeeper is only like 6lb
I run over 4 hours straight normally on our trail crawls. The crawlmaster takes a beating and keeps going.
I've never built a truck that ran completely silent as far as motor sound. I like the castle sound more than the brushed motor sounds. Once you get a "tuned ear" for the castle I think the audible noise does help driving performance. You see and hear what is happening as the truck crests over an obstacle. With zero noise it would be hard to determine throttle control, and at the point it peeks the rock, and is no longer bound up it could shoot over it. Or in a competitive arena, nail a gate. With zero loss of torque, and power, when under the maximum amount of resistance, I would like silent. Until that day comes, the sweet hum of a castle system is music to my ears.
I like the whine for the same reason, I like the audible sound to determine the amount of throttle I'm giving it. Instead of reacting to the truck moving in a silent system, I can hear it spool up before it takes off, it also helps to minimize wheel bind if your paying attention.
OH MY!
Gramma went through the communion line multiple times!🍷
Wheel stands in reverse, PRAISE BE!
Do your neighbors have rigs? And do they “poach” runs on your rock pile when your out front in the garden?!?
Great content! Thanks!
I ran a Revolver with a Copperhead 10 for a while. I actually think the Revolver sounds cool, but the volume and frequency gets obnoxious after a while. I couldn't run it long in my garage without my ears ringing, and trailing it lets everyone know you're coming 😂. I'm using a local outfit's silent ESC and have a Crawmaster V2 on the way from y'all as I type this 👍. I'll have an extra esc pretty soon and I think that means I need to build a new rig for it haha
(0:43) - I DO NOT AGREE WITH WHAT
YOU SAID ABOUT THE "2700Kv's OF "
WHEEL-SPEED !!! ...🤨...🤔.....!!???
With "all due respect, John... I believe,
from lookin' at it, and hearing it... to be
more like 2300Kv rating, or 2500Kv...
(translated "wheel-speed"), - sir !! ...😐
But, like you also said, the 3S LIPO is
(not) a fully-charged battery pack !!! 😉
In short, I do not agree, when we are
"lookin' at it".
Anyway, thankyou as always for another
good video John !!! 🤘😁 👍 💪🇺🇲
Do you have any idea how crazy your punctuation is?
It's, like "super, duper" ....CRAZY, !!!?¿? SIR (I really , mean it).... With all due respect, for, sure, your, not, making, any, sense..
Just saying!
I’d really like if they put a velocity loop in their esc
Would a castle slate2280 be safe on 4s for this esc? On 3s it seems to be ambient temp lol I'm running it in a gatekeeper
Is there any play in the drivetrain? If so, how much? I thought I liked my trucks quiet, but I like the noise….
Got a new Bomber. What would you recommend for a Brushed combo so I can have good top speed, yet crawl when wanted/needed, with the 2 speed installed?
Or would brushless be the best way to go? Which is what I'm thinking as I do want to rock race with my bomber.
Iv debated this set up for my Phoenix but I have been told it won't handle hard driving
I know your thing is electronics, but I'm curious about your thoughts on tires and tuning them. I just got a Trail Finder 2, and bought my girlfriend a Redcat Scout yesterday.
What are the chances we can get a video on tire selection?
I am stuck on my hobbywing 80 amp and my crawl master 13t 550 on 3s.
Not a fan of the feedback loop coming from the CC Escs. Always looking for my EQ so I can dump that 13.5k slider. lol
Love that sweet sweet castle whine on a revolver
Hey John I know this may be a little bit out of your realm of knowledge, but I feel you may know the answer to this. I'm looking to use a 1/10 ESC as a servo controller for a giant scale servo I plan to build with a drill motor. Is there some way to splice in a potentiometer to a regular ESC to make it work like a servo controller?
Thoughts on this esc with your 2500kv revolver v2?
Do you have an ETA when they will be available on your website?
What bumpers are you running front and back bud
I was wondering if you ever considered a more varied rock surface for your rock setup. Like have smoother surfaces and dusty surfaces along with hydrophobic and severely porous rocks. To force additional differential function and importance on tire composition and tread types?
In my experience it seems most rock trails are setup with the same rock types and it just never seemed natural or even intriguing.
This is the same rock that is local, limestone. Varied terrain is definitely fun though!
Question - would a pwm / frequency slider option be able to cancel that noise or would that be a bad idea because it would just create too much heat for that ESC allowing people to adjust the frequency?
I ask because I had a hobbywing ESC sensored that at certain numbers like 1K it would make a very similar wine to a castle but 2K through 10K it was completely silent.
I was using it for a drag racing so 1K allowed it to give me the blast of power/rapid response I was asking for
Castle doesn't wish to offer anything but the best tune for efficiency of the system.
John Holmes is Covid transport & delays the only reason why you stopped shipping to Australia ? Yes i can buy Holmes motors from A Main, but not servos & accessories. Love your motors, keep up the great work 👍
My question is why are you still using the stock general crappers that came with the truck. Wouldn’t you wanna test out your rig with some more decent better gripping tires?
They actually hook good enough around here. I'm not competing either. the occasional wheelspeed blip can overcome low traction too 🙃
That motor is on my list...certainly...the esc not so much.
Like my rigs silent still tryin to get a Holmes esc but they seem to be on a never ending back order:(
They literally are selling out in under 3 minutes when they're released on the site. We have several in stock at Remote Control Hobbies - Orlando if you're in a pinch and can't wait to get one direct.
@@RCJesus420 they're available right now on the site. I just checked again a few minutes ago. If they stay in stock much longer ill buy another one lol. I'd just rather have 1 and let other guys have a chance at 1 instead of buying 5 At one time
Jesus, people...all that bitching about "its on backorder" Make your own ,get a wraith or Iflight 50amp esc, reprogram(flash) it with AM32, end of story.🙄
Can I run a revolver classic 1950kv with it?
Jordan got at me through my email. Thanks for everything, Y'all have a great weekend. God bless
Need to change the motor directions cause faster in reverse then forward
you got moxie kid
I love your work and love supporting your stuff as an American!!!
But I can stand to see how awesome your electronics are go on your website and everything is out of stock ..
ALWAYS!! 🤔😤🫤🫠🥴🙄😅😄
I log in like almost everyday 🥴😅😏
It's priceless hearing the views of someone who definitely knows what they're talking about...
