How to Share Games on Steam 2024 - Steam Family

- In this video I’ll be showing you how to share games on Steam. You can share games on Steam with friends or family using the Steam families feature. With Steam you can create or join a family to share your games. A Steam family can be made by anyone, allowing them to invite people to their family. When someone has joined your family all of their eligible games will become shared with everyone in the family.
Steam family allows you to share games with a copies system. This means that as a family all your owned copies of a game are added together. For example, if your family has 5 members but only 2 own a specific game, then any 2 family members can play that game at one time.
Additionally, you can share games on steam and play together provided there are enough copies of that game in the family. This is particularly helpful if you don’t tend to play Steam games at the same time a others as it’s less likely that the game will be getting played by another family member.
While the feature is aimed at allowing you to share steam games with family members, it’s used to allow you to share games within your household. This means that you can share Steam games with friends provided they are living in the same house as you.
To create a Steam family you will need to go to your Account Details and select Family Managment. From this page you can create a family or see your pending family invites. Additionally, once you have joined a family you will also see your Steam family info and library here.
When you invite someone to your Steam family they will need to accept the request from the same household. However, it doesn’t need to be the same PC. This means you can share games on Steam to another computer as long as it’s using the same internet, or even share steam games on the same PC.

You could sell your family if you have a big amount of games and steam would lose a tone of money bc the members wouldn't buy the game.

Why steam not giving option give the game
it says Failed to create the family. Limited accounts are not able to create a family. can someone help me?
I have an issue with one of my friends getting a message saying they can't join the family due to not being in the same household does this not work for friends outside of your family?

The old way of doing it was way more simple. I don't understand why they need to move options around to different sections of the menu.

the old way involved logging into your account on a differenc pc which poeple are not always so keen on giving their details away to other people
If somebody else is playing a game only i own, can i not play that game until they close it?
The person who doesnt own the game opens it first then the person who owns it opens it next

So if i only own one copy of a game that means only one person can play it at a time right, and owning two copys would let me and my gf play the same game at the same time
Yes, but sharing it 2 people cannot play at the same time
If there are 2 owned copies within the family, 2 people can play simultaneously.
Just like if you and a friend both own a game, you can both play it.

I think u can log into their account in ur home and then accept it from ur pc, thats the only way i can think of
