Back in 1982, my '76 128 2 door sedan was going less than 50 mph when I swerved slightly around a pile of glass left in the road from an earlier wreck. Lost all traction from the rain and motor oil. The Fiat did an end over end between a tree and a pole, then rolled 4 more times down a 30 foot embankment landing in a field--roof down. Looked like the one on the video with wheels tucked under. Sad. Fun car. Tough too. Compressed vertebra was only injury.

Fiat cars at the late 70s were very good at price and top equiped, we had a mid green 132 injection, a very good car, in 1989 the rust took overhand of our loved 132, after 8 years of loyal service, here in Luxbg you can still see 130 coupés with rust but still running after 35 years, wonderful cars the vintage Fiat.

Mi Father certificate that Fiats are very safe!... In 1998, he crashed, overturned and dragged 50 metres a "Made In Brazil" Fiat Uno CS 1986 at 100Km/h (over 60mph)... and we was no injuried! only two little skin scratch without blood in his left arm and left leg, but was made by his aluminium pen! not by the car!!! ... but the car dies!

Minute 2:20... on the first line of destroyed cars parking, there were some "Fiat Security Car Prototypes" introduced as "concept car" in the early 70's... and they're destroyed after the test!!! :D

anybody could put some rustproofing investment into his Fiat,
Waxoil, Dinol, etc... But people didnt want to invest a single penny in rustprofing so
the Fiat Fiat rotted soon--just as early BMW and VW

as i said, i've worked in skoda service, official one, in 2009. i've driven and worked on every skoda model in the range. biggest dissapointment was superb, because it's too damn hard and uncomfortable. if you have ever driven big italian car you'd know what i'm talking about.
also, working in skoda service, i changed front suspension arms on cars with less than 20k kms on the clock.
and how can you know that fiat 132 is shit when you never had one?

scrapping schemes are only good for car manufacturers and banks that give you credit and you pay enormous interest rates. it's not good for you, economy or our planet. there's nothing wrong with driving properly maintained old cars

You nailed it perfectly. I've owned two Fiat 131s - a series 2 131 Supermirafiori 1.6 twin cam, and a series 3 131 Miriafiori 1.6 CL (sohc). Both built like tanks, as strong as an ox, and handled like they were on rails. But once they reached 8-10 years old, they felt like they were made from rice paper! Loved 'em both when new(ish), sad to see them turn to ferrous oxide!

sorry pal but skoda superb is just plain uncomfortable. seats are too hard, ride is appaling, handling is nothing special.
front and rear suspension components are made of chewing gum and fail often even in first couple years of use and replacement parts are expensive.

It is a USA ad, isn't it?... Do you have more early FIAT-USA videos? there are some other around youtube... I assume it's for USA market 'cause the Fiat logo is the old one (from 50's and 60's) that in the 70's and 80's was even used in the USA market, not the "four diamonds-five bars" logo (1968-1999) used in the rest of the world... Thanks for posting it! :)

I always thought those silver and black rostyle wheels on the 131/132s looked fantastic. It's a shame to see these cars being crash tested because they are getting quite valuable now.

  • @djape1977

true, but looking at 6-8years old cars nowdays, they're no better. at least low budget cars such as opel (vauxhall), dacia, skoda, vw etc.

Of course, Fiat once again has one of the safest small cars on the US market. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

  • @Wilhem275
    @Wilhem275 Před 12 lety

No man, sorry but it doesn't work like this. A head on impact with another car (both with similar weight and speed) at 40 km/h is just the same as going at 40 km/h into a rigid barrier. In EuroNCAP tests cars collide at 64 km/h, 40% offset, into a deformable barrier, while other NCAPs protocols require a 50 or 55 km/h impact, no offset, into a rigid wall.
FIAT's results were important at the time, but they're outdated in comparison with today's vehicles.
BTW, many thanks for the upload!
