the instrumentals in this song is OUT OF THIS WORLD, and the lyrics keep up the excellence. The song is very fluid, i fell like the band is agreeing while recording, and supporting the vocals in a perfect way
on their studio albums, I believe Morrissey would record after the instrumental was finished. I'm sure they had some writing sessions together but that shows how talented of a writer and vocalist that he is. They have 4 great albums and many singles from the short time they were touring and recording together from 1984 -1987.
Morrisseys voice is so haunting!
In the best way imaginable
Reminds me of the blob, chashin me.
Hahaha. Whom knew Old Moz was huge in Da Hood. But why the over the Top Lyric brake down. She needs to simply enjoy the Manchester Experience. Well. Viva Morrissey anyway.
No it’s good
Hahahaha verdade
I like watching people react to The Smiths.
This band saved my life! And you should watch one of their live videos.
Same!

The Smiths... Amazing lyrics great tunes nobody made music like Morrissey and Marr try
William it was Really Nothing, Hand in Glove, The Headmasters Ritual, Barbarism Begins at Home
I’m a life long Smiths fan a big thank you for reacting to them
Barbarism Begins at home should be about her 9th Smiths song listen for maximum impact ;)
I LOVE the smiths. Definitely recommend them.
You have got to listen to Radiohead’s cover of Headmasters Ritual. I love the original and Radiohead’s version is spectacular
Alex Hernandez I’ve just gave it a listen it’s a good version I like it give me another Radiohead song to listen to
Iain Weller I am not that familiar with Radiohead, I will listen to more of them and share some songs
That bass and guitar are soooo luscious. Morrissey's haunting voice. Such a great song. Thanks for the reaction!!!
You need to review LAST NIGHT I DREAMT THAT SOMEBODY LOVED ME. By The Smiths!!!! Heartbreaking
Ur so right, I love this song. I love singing and jamming out to their songs, lol.
Great tune LAST NIGHT....saw these in the 80’s and still haven’t seen or heard a better band
@nigga turd Absolutely right - I've been thinking that Heaven Knows is the best way to introduce someone to The Smiths.
This is one of those songs that would routinely give me goose bumps. And, omg, it's the "color of _lead_ " as in the elemental metal. "A Taste of Honey" was indeed Shelagh Delaney's debut play, and was adapted for the silver screen a few years later. That is Delaney on the cover of the "Louder than Bombs" LP.
It's such great lyrics because lead invokes heaviness and pollution.
Very impressed you chose The Smiths. Definitely try "That Joke isn't funny anymore" by them or "The Headmaster's Ritual."
Meat Is Murder is my favorite Smiths' album.
Definitely need more The Smiths reaction 👍
"this is a harsh one" Lol. This one is like a weekend retreat of positivity when compared to Suffer Little Children. Especially if you know who Ian Brady and Myra Hindley are.
I love The Smiths/Morrissey. He has a great voice and is a fantastic lyricist.
I was happy and intrigued that I stumbled across your reaction to this song being a young black American woman who had probably never heard of Manchester band The Smiths, my favourite band of all time, being a 45 year old Manchester man who sings and plays guitar and produces music,I remember being about 12yrs old and hearing this song for the first time and this song gripped me and made start to learn how to play the guitar, The Smiths wrote about real life whether it be happy, sad, melancholic or humorous, to me this is the difference between The Smiths and many other bands or artists the fact of writing real songs about real life and not just ‘Baby baby I love you so much’ like the majority of musicians out there, the lyrics written boy Morrissey told real stories and the music written by Johnny Marr complimented each other perfectly entwining melody and guitar riffs beautifully.
I was nice to see somebodies reaction who had never heard it before and over 30yrs after the song was written, maybe you don’t like it and it’s not for you which is perfectly fine but I hope you can appreciate this song and why they wrote this way because life isn’t all lovely, beautiful, starry, glitzy and full of rainbows but can be tough, hard, a struggle and have many ups & downs, but also can be full of happy & good times which is a more true and reflective take on life in general in my opinion.
Well done India for actually giving the song a go and reacting to it as it could have been so easy for you to have just skipped on and gone to another track to react to. Thank you & all the best, Stephen (Manchester, England).
Love her interpretations... she's so open minded and thirsty for the meanings behind Morrisseys lyrics. Great to watch, this has cheered my day up. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle by The Smiths would be another one to review ❤
Big Smith's fan here, from all the way back in the 80's. Important to know about the Smith's are the times in which Morrissey was writing his songs. In this song Moz, as he is known, sings about the situations that many young girls, in this case, who came from working class backgrounds. There was a depression that was part of all those peoples lives, which was normal. One of my favorite youtubes is Morrissey Live at the Hollywood Bowl.
This song is great.
The lyrics and music OMG 😍.
This song did touch me deeply.
Thank you Morrissey and Smiths.
You Rock 💪👊😎.
The groove is too smooth. Ouch!
I love The Smiths. Been my favorite band for most of my adult life. Morrissey's lyrics coupled with Johnny Marr's music are just incredible. They're an acquired taste for some. You kind of have to give them a good chance - listen through songs a few times to appreciate the masterpieces they are. "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore", "There is a Light That Never Goes Out", "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side", "Half a Person", "What Difference Does it Make?", "Stop Me if You Think That You've Heard This One Before". There are so many.
Agree...just the guitar interpretation by genius Johnny Marr deserves a complete analysis...
Check out Johnny's album Call The Comet. It's really fantastic.
The endless list ! So many beautiful poetic songs.love to you.
About a young Girl who dumped her baby on a Doorstep ,It was a big thing in the 80s ,hes saying im not judging you need help ,just the kind of thing Morrisey does
This song was also inspired by “A Raisin InThe Sun”.
The Smiths. Probably one of the best 80s bands ever. Have all the stuff on vinyl from the 1st single Hand in Glove up to the Album Strangeways here we come.
The Smiths and The Cure, two best bands from the 80s
Would love to have your vinyl collection!
@@alpo6668 Depeche Mode was miles better than the cure
@@scotthandler3314 I like Depeche Mode as well. Thanks for your opinion.
Wrap her up in the News of the World(best line ever), English news paper for those who don't know.
Always gets me that line, heartfelt and tragic.
this was the second Smiths song I heard after Charming man. when I heard News Of the World I was hooked
No situation are black and white in life. Everything is grey.
The Smiths are perfect for showing this!
Well done, very proud that you reacted to The Smiths. Please do more😊
I love all of their albums. So many great songs. Yes they have amazing lyrics and music. I could easily recommend several songs for reaction. Been a fan of The Smiths since 1987 which was around the time they broke up!
I love it the smiths, reaction to " Well I wonder "
I never realized how good the bass is, my Goddddd. Do death of a disco dancer it is SO relevant right now
Andy Rourke wrote such melodic bass lines. Like little songs within the songs.
Andy is a leg end!
"A taste of Honey" was a depressing so-called sixties 'kitchen sink drama' starring Rita Tushingham - somehow Morrisey made it more depressing, Seek out the film and you'll get my drift.
Lovely work as always.
x
There is a light that never goes out
Nowhere fast
What difference does it make
Bam
This song is inspired by the movie "Taste of Honey". The lyrics tell its story
The Smiths are hard enjoy from a distance - you're either sucked in hook line and sinker or they're dismissed. I'm hooked.
This is awesome. I am a long term fan of the Smith's since I was 14 years old
This song is about a baby being abandoned and then a reflection on what could have been and where is she now. Very sad.
I thought it was about a woman having a backstreet abortion
saw the singer (Morrissey) in concert last year.
My favourite song of all time. Beautiful vocals by Morrissey and the instrumental by Marr is incredible
One of my favorite's discs ever by my favorite band ever.
I liked this channel so much because you chose The Smiths. I literally adore this band! I recommend you to listen 'asleep', that song always makes me cry so much.
Thank you for this and I hope you continue reacting to their music.
Greetings from Mexico!
The Smiths HOW SOON IS NOW!!
Try one of their more uptempo songs, like “Ask.”
Yes, that's a great starter song.
Nowhere Fast
Sweet And Tender Hooligan
What She Said
Great song by a fantastic band. Morrissey is indeed quite the poet.
Can you please react to Year Of The Cat by Al Stewart?? Thank you 🙂
Refreshing to hear a black, American woman discuss the smiths, rather than middle-aged white British men :p
Love this song and most of this band's other material.
At the drive-in did a cover of this song, it would be cool to see you react to some of their original music.
Great cover
One of their most beautiful songs
And just a nice review style in general. I like how you discussed the lyrics
One of their saddest. Still gives me chills.
If anyone did watch the Tv series "Charmed", The Smiths is the band who originally made the main theme song "How Soon Is Now". :)
Yes!!
There is a light that never goes out is their best song and one of the greatest songs of all time.
Such an amazing song
I love your reactions to the music I love! Just wondering what brought you to the smiths? Been a fan my whole life almost, I heard my older brother playing this record in 1984 and fell in love with it. I’ve been listening to this ever since since! Tried to figure out what all the songs meant but, that’s the brilliance of morrissey he leaves us to interpret and to find meaning to it that we can relate to in our own lives. You don’t get that much in music do you- WE!
Hatful of Hollow and Louder than Bombs!
Her reviewing the smiths not knowing the background is so funny.
That was the song that introduced me to them!
This song makes me cry everytime I listen so sad
I ADORE the Smiths! Try "How soon is now" and "I know it's over"
Just so you know... it is Hatful of Hallow (as in a "hat" you wear) and Louder than Bombs (not booms). Geoffrey is pronounced "Jeffrey"
Those are two great albums you were gifted! Be sure to check out Ask, Still Ill, Bigmouth Strikes Again, The Boy With a Thorn in His Side, and though it's on a completely different album (The Queen Is Dead), another Smith's masterpiece called Cemetry Gates as well as the greatest Smith's song ever, and ultimately, one of the most important songs of the English language, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.
It warms my heart to see the next generations (like this young lady) discovering and appreciating The Smiths. Morrissey and Made could have been Lennon/McCartney had they held together for a few more LPs and a dozen odd singles w/B-sides.
My fav song
Brilliant. A meditation on abortion. Not taking a position, but sketching out the moral and emotional conflict. Peerless musicianship too. 10/10.
Love this song
Louder the BOOMS lol
Hateful of hollow lol
Than*
@@jbri1 my comment went over your head or you havent watched the vid grammar nazi.
I love this song
Keep with The Smiths but also do more Depeche Mode ...for great lyrics! They never disappoint...very layered...
Nothing by Depeche Mode, I love that song. It’s overshadowed by their more famous songs on Black Celebration it’s a hidden gem!
'Louder Than Booms' . WOW. That particular Album l missed. Must of been a Pre~release. But the Later version. 'Louder Than Bombs' was a Huge Hit. Haha. Sorry, not Sorry. I was only Joking.
The Smiths... pure poetry
The sailor in A Taste of Honey didn't leave her, he was a sailor & had to go back to his ship. During the movie, we never see him finding out. Oh she has kept the baby when the movie ends.
Just listened to this song today. Great music track. Morrissey ⭐
one of the greatest bands of all time
If you think that is sad, try suffer the children! That song tears my heart to pieces. Boldly go where others dare not. Magnificent lyrics, thank you the smiths.
Some girls are bigger than others. A very nice tune.
For me the smiths are the best Band because they can transport so much emotions and that's what all is about.
GREAT song!!!
Next, you might like to try "Agadoo", by Black Lace. A little different in tone, but a British 80s classic!
legend
More Smiths please!!
Love The Smiths, gotta do There is A Light That Never Goes Out
Went to see David bowie in concert , they we're great opening act. Lovely memories

HECK YES
I love the smiths 😘😍
Love this band (though this was not my favourite of theirs) I would try there is a light that never goes out, rubber ring, I know it’s over,
How Soon is Now? is my favorite
Man, I love you. The Smiths! Not many are reacting to them. You are sure running the gamut! Nice. Please react to more. I wouldnt have recommended this one first but it really doesn't matter. They hardly have a single song that's not worth listening to. When you get back around to them maybe try a reaction for "Rubber Ring" Be cool to hear your thoughts on it. Peace and Love,
3:22 realization about the song
Great song review of a very complex artist, at the time i began listening to The Smiths around 1985 and Morrissey later, it never crossed my mind that he could have had a child or children with a woman and felt some kind of way about it, he is a man, i can relate, very interesting this song review, thank you for sharing.
Give you major props for reacting to some very non commercial music
Yes yes yes
More Smiths!
This is an ok Smiths song, but there are too many amazing ones to pick from.
I recommend: I Know It's Over, Rusholme Ruffians, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, Cemetry Gates, The Headmaster's Ritual, William It Was Really Nothing, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
Try 'I know It's Over" for the ultimate breakup song!
That one is awesome
i don’t think it’s a break up song, more like a song about a relationship that never was
Soundtrack to my youth
Eu amo the smiths
Please do a re-reaction. A girl has dumped her new born, "wrapped in 'The News of the World'", which is a newspaper. The following lyrics are how saddened they are
Hatful of Hollow
You said hateful. "Hatful" like a full hat. :)
Girl, listen to more of The Smiths. They're so good! I've never heard of a play or looked up the meaning. But I felt the same as you said when I first heard this song. It was actually the first song of theirs I'd ever heard and the lyrics just grabbed hold of me because of how INTENSE they are. You do feel the pain, the gullibility. I really hope you'll listen to more.
I'm still watching lol. Another tip: Geoffrey is just a weird spelling of Jeffrey. 😂 But same pronunciation.
You are hella intelligent!!!!
More Smiths!!
Please do “There is a Light That Never Goes Out!”
Oh really you should do interlude by Siouxsie and the Banshees and Morrissey
Yes it's actually hatful of hollow and not hateful
Morrissey is a complete ass these days but hearing this song, which I've not heard for a long time, really brings home how good he used to be and what a great band The Smiths were.
In a river the colour of lead listen again
u just got a sub
