- Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement and Kate Winslet.

Sam is the least expressive of them but I think that is exactly what works for Jake. They all play their characters perfectly.
My problem with Jake in this film is he is so stoic and bland but I understand as he is meant to be under a lot of stress so he is not himself in this film. They gave his playfulness and goofiness in the first film to Lo'ak which I like, it's a good way to balance the characters without making them inconsistent
@@Nicholas_Chen_ well he just wanted to protect his family.
With a son that gets everyone in dangen always i would be like him as well haha (Lo'ak).
Edit: also you can see tha after being named Toruk Makto, everyone around sees him as a leader and someone to follow. So he must be up to their stardards.
@@Nicholas_Chen_ I agree that Jake felt a bit too stoic at times but I was watching an interview with Sam and Zoe yesterday and Zoe said something that made me rethink my opinion on Jake’s behavior.
Zoe compared Jake and Neytiri’s experiences as parents with how ducks swim. Ducks appear calm and “together” but they’re actually struggling and working hard under the surface. So maybe that’s where Jake’s at in this movie. Just trying to keep it together for his kids’ sake. Neytiri is supposed to be the most emotional of the couple so Jake needs to balance that with his stoicism. My two cents :)
There's moments like really traumatic and Jake is so blank, expressionless, it's like his brain is slowly interpreting what just happened and he's in a trance
Jake is battle-hardened marine, he doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve. He is very self-restrained. Which Sam really knocked out of the park this time. Because you can actually see the emotions playing inside of him.
Seeing the faces of the actors within the characters is one thing while watching the movie, but it doesn't really connect until you see them actually acting in the studio volume, just how hard they had to work to imagine all this in their heads and play pretend like kids. 💙
It's amazing
It is a fantastic movie
Pretty sure they are kids in real life. They are in their teens I think
The motion capture actors should do these for games is just as equally hard working
@Sora The adults in the cast are not anywhere near their teenage years, there are many adults in the cast.
When Kate Winslet screamed « What is this! », I literally cried in the cinema. She’s such an amazing actress
I mean it’s KATE WINSLET
She’s incredible. The character she created for Mare Of Eastown on HBO was really really good too but in a completely different way.
Kate winslet avatar is like 10x more attractive then K-W is in real life , wonder how that makes her feel
Titanic flashback lmao
The moment that had me crying the hardest was the funeral. It hit home for me so hard...I lost my little brother and we said goodbye to him by giving his body back to the ocean. Those screams of his mother are raw...and I will never forgot those screams coming from my own mother and I....that moment in the movie tore through me like nothing else.
So sorry for your loss.. I watched this movie with a friend who lost her older son at 14 years old. It is such a heartbreaking scene..
Really wow
Thanks for sharing. That moment got to me too. I'm sure it brought up a lot of raw memories for you.
Oona Chaplin (Avatar) supports Putin's terrorism when the Russian Horde bombs the homes of civilians. Terrorist Oona Chaplin.😱😱😱
ATTENTION!!!!! Where will you go when you die? Heaven or Hell? We can not hide our sins from God. Jesus Christ loves you and He died for our sins. We must repent and believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ if we want to be set free and saved from Hell. MARK 1:15 “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
I would love to watch a 2 hours documentary behind the scene of this film.. I'm so invested on how they do these things, i wanna watch their moments while in water and stuff
Same
Same
SAME!!
Exactly
That will probably happen when a collector edition is released, if they do the same thing with this one as they did with the 1st
Zoe Saldana is just amazing she puts her soul into this💙
she also did well in *Guardians of the Galaxy* as Gamora❤️❤️
When she shot the first film, she said that she sometimes accidentally stayed in character in real life. This occasionally caused awkward moments, such as the time a maitre' D lost her reservation and she snarled and hissed at him like a cat.
Dont talk too quick she might come out again and say how horrible it was as🤣
As if anyone forced her to play a role🤌
Oh man, I love her! ❤️
She deserves an Oscar!
We need a whole documentary for both movies. This is a history for sure!
Sure is. Indigenous people’s history. I guess even as we approach 2023 it still makes for great entertainment for some people.

@@angelbaby1811 lmfaooo
Yes. Especially I want to know how the look of the avatars were created. They are so beautiful.
We need more crazy filmmakers like James Cameron. I didn't feel this satisfied walking out of the theatre in a long time. Absolutely beautiful
2 more years until the next. i hope jim Cam & co is insured
Kate winslet avatar is like 10x more attractive then K-W is in real life , wonder how that makes her feel
Sigourney absolutely crushed it! Was cool to see her "teenage" performance, so well done
Her voice was really bad tho. Sounded obviously old
I agree with the replies. It felt
So weird hearing a 70 year old voice from a teenager. Creepy and hurt the movie immersion
Honestly Idc What people say she crushed, cry harder over a voice like we didn't have 30 year olds playing teenagers on Netflix. You ever seen the 2000's spiderman movies? Y'all sound goofy
@@Tonycillian5yeah my main my complaint with the film was her, i kinda cringed at some of her emotional scenes. why not cast a teenager? makes no sense
@@808hearmannxea2 I’d take a 30 year old teen than a 70 year old teen. And what’s crazy is that they could easily have just cast a teen actress.
THIS IS NOT MOTION CATURE, THIS IS PERFORMANCE CAPTURE 💙
Emotion capture

Bingo!
True 👍👍
Kate and Zoe always killing it. Well, all of them, Sam and Sigourney are amazing too. But Kate and Zoe stole my heart
Kate winslet avatar is like 10x more attractive then K-W is in real life , wonder how that makes her feel
3:30 this gave me goosebumps. Kate Winslet killed it as Ronal and I can’t wait to see more from her as the character.
Kate winslet avatar is like 10x more attractive then K-W is in real life , wonder how that makes her feel
The Tulkun and her calf being killed actually broke me.
The whole movie broke me, but yea scenes like these especially
The subtitles on the whale though, LOL. Taking things a little too far there.
same i was actually dying the whole movie had me crying
@@jedijones no it wasn’t. it‘s an alien world. in marvel and star wars you also just accept everything.
@@jedijones the tulkun are a sentient species that the na'vi have figured out how to communicate with...the marine biologist makes that confirmation later on in the movie when talking about how neurologically developed they are. it was a little strange at first, i'll admit, but pandora works very differently than earth does
The most memorable scene for me was when Neytiri got REALLY mad that made Spider scared. The acting was incredible that even i got scared.
Agree, in that moment The Navi as creature is very scary
3:30 started crying till the end of the film.
those whale scenes were sooo dirty... i was bawling my eyes out the whole time after they started killing the "tul'kun" (if thats how u spell it)
good thing i had those 3D glasses on to hide my tears! Dx
I had to look away when the Tulkun were being killed…the noises of pain the mom Tulkun was making is still engraved in my head…it was awful man
That was the most heart wrenching scene. Even i can't even look at it but still the sound of it already broke my heart
cringe.
It's crazy to remember that they had to make up their own languages, change accents & act in just studios. The remarkable professionalism in these actors is beyond words!
Kate winslet avatar is like 10x more attractive then K-W is in real life , wonder how that makes her feel
1:02 'I will be nice once, then I won't.' What an ideal person to say it. What an expression and acting. Just wow 😲
I think Quaritch was better here because being in the avatar tones down his performance. Lang was too over-the-top as a human, LOL.
If I hadn't red your comment I would have not known this Quote cuz what I heard was like * I was nice once then I moved on* 😂 funny .
instant cult dialogue
I just seen this in 3D, absolutely amazing!

Man, I want to see it again so freakin bad! It was such an emotional piece of cinema.
Me too man two 3 days later again 🤘🏻
Oh yes definitely I'm seeing it again not just for the visual spectacles but to see the characters again, they are all so precious. I want to see those character moments on the biggest screen again while the film is still in cinema
YES
Same here!!
Me too, I keep trying to convince my family to see it again in 3d
The moment we see Neytiri amongst the branches of the trees at the beginning, my jaw dropped at how gorgeous she looks. I love Winslet’s character. This one was so much more emotional than the first and having 2 boys of my own now, I cried. Felt so much for Neytiri good and bad.
Kate winslet avatar is like 10x more attractive then K-W is in real life , wonder how that makes her feel
Zoe is so impressive! I can’t speak highly of her acting and the beauty of her character enough!
I watched it 2 times already
First time is together with my family and to know the story
Second time is just to appreciate those epic and breathtaking scenes.
I watched it twice. One on December 13, the other time a week later
Yes! Can’t wait for the third watch😅
And third time because it’s that effing good 😂👏
I watched 3 times. Going again today for the 4th
I also watched it on Sunday already and will watch again next week :D
3:30 made me cry so hard while watching in IMAX. Best movie ever.
That's the scene when I saw Kate Winslet's expression impeccably showed through. It's mindblowing!
Same man. That moment hurt really bad. We must protect our oceans!! 💙
I only watched it in 2D, but same, i felt her emotion!!
That was a very powerful scene. Definitely made me cry.
Reminds me of titanic whe she lost jack
Zoe Saldana outdid herself in this movie. Her performance was just amazing *SPOILER* especially when she was grieving her son and then went on her solo rage action. That was the most thrilling scene in the movie. I hope the Oscars recognize the motion capture performance as a normal acting performance and give her a chance!
Is it just me or James Cameron subtly gave tribute to Titanic? With the scenes where the water slowly fills up the inside of the ship and Kiri and Spider runs towards the top. It gave me goosebumps.
He definitely took a lot of what he learned on Titanic for that ship scene.
He definitely got a thing with sinking ships.
@@ghost_5519 that was what I was thinking when I saw that scène 😂😂😂😂😂
That's exactly where my mind went during that scene. Too bad I lost focus and began to scrutinize how much he'd upgraded his skills since Titanic. In all fairness, this is one long film that allows for a lot of zoning out opportunities to be able to look around, appreciate and contemplate what's on the screen without needing to follow storyline all the time. Like the first film, it's not only a movie but a complete journey where you in fact disconnect from reality for 3 hours because of the intricate attention paid to the type of 3D technology used. Most 3D films give me claustrophobia but both Avatar films get it right because the technology is used to further the audience's immersion and enhance the storytelling rather than just for "here's something jumping out at you" gimmicks. Anyway, I went on a tangent but there's so much to say about this evolution in filmmaking and Cameron's brilliantly obsessive attention to detail!! Thanx for reading :))
I totally remembered titanic. The ship that were slowly sinking and overturning, the people who were running on the top to save themeselves from drowning and the scenes inside the boat were the water rises and the light flickers...
The most incredible and subtle part you don’t notice are the eyes 👀 it’s amazing how they put the emotions into the eyes of the GC characters
That's literally the most noticeable part of mocap performance lol
The movie is simply amazing! It's worth at least two trips to the cinema!
Exactly!
I would still recommend some stretching after the film ahaha
I’ve already gone twice lol
I've seen it twice as well. The movie is awesome!
planning for a third trip...maybe even a fourth one! who knows, perhaps a fifth? 😅
Man, Kate Winslet's acting broke my heart and I didnt even went to see the movie yet! I'm going in the next couples of days ...
All the actors in this movie are a remarkable few of their profession. They have few physical references to their characters and surroundings, proving their vast imagination and ability. Mad respect to the whole cast. Definitely going to watch this movie twice at the movie theatre!
Instead of getting the actors to explain the tech they don't really understand, why not get the people who handle the VFX, mocap etc to explain in depth? The actors really don't need more recognition. The people who work behind the scenes definitely deserve the recognition.
Yeah this bothers me big time. They don't really understand it, which is fair because it's not their job to, but they probably shouldn't be the only people talking about it in detail
Joe Leterri, the legend! ;)
Because this is marketing material and as much as it sucks, vfx artists won't get more people to buy tickets
This is promotional material for the movie. The average person doesn't care about random behind-the-scenes people. They will make more in depth videos in the future
I think it's a good thing. If an actor can explain this with his own word of a none-technical artist it will be better to be understand by the most. Sometimes I quickly lose people in my explanations
3:30 Man my first cry of the movie was during this scene with Ronal and her tulkun. It hit me so hard. I never felt such an overwhelming wave of helplessness watching a movie scene as I did here. Zoe and Kate do such an amazing job portraying emotion.

This movie deserves the best movie of the year award

Just brings the tears to my eyes
I'm so lucky to experience the movie in 3D......Bathed in AVATAR 2 ..It will be a crime to call it a film because It’s an experience of a life time ..SPECTACULAR VISUALS and MIND BENDING ACTION

I’ve seen this 3 times now it’s truly a visual masterpiece
But the dialog and plot are cringeworthy, so that knocks it down in quality. I think it might win a Guinness World Record for the most bro's used in a script.
Avatar: The Way of Water is just beautiful, 10/5 stars.
1) deep story
2) surreal world
3) amazing action
This goes together with John Wick, like how many sequels they make is already sold.
It's so amazing how much of them actually transfer to the characters especially Lang. His swagger is there 100%
I'm so proud of these actors. They really do such a great job. This movie is so full world class phenomenon. Legendary. Everlasting. Never gets old.
I love Avatar and this sequel has a special place in my heart. Want to see it again.
I never got over Avatar, even after 13 years...watching it is like the 1st time, everytime!! It's been 5 days since I saw The way of Water and I still can't find the right words. Just unbelievably epic.
Just watched in the theaters yesterday... It was a mind blowing experience and this movie def crossed my expectations!! The thing i love the most is though this whole movie is based on CGI, still James Cameron was able to connect the audiences' emotions with characters who were introduced for the first time!!
Also the transformation of jake from a newbie in Navi to a leader and a protective father was so impressive
I cried just from how beautiful the movie turned out, made me want to spend all my savings on sea diving to watch the fish and the corals... Gave me the feeling that things here are ending fast
Same. We are killing our Pandora.
One of the best movies I've ever seen, it made me cry 3 times. I was very emotional at the end and I didn't want the movie to end.
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, you are the coolest guys in the film. You are already a legend! Playing so many types of roles like EVERYTHING is REAL and how great everything is in action movies as well as in comedies and dramas. My god, I am already liking that boy and his acting who played Loak in movie.
He was too good.

I could watch hours and hours of their performances side by side with the final result please give us that
This is not just a movie, this is art ! Masterpiece of cinematography ❤️respect to the actors.
Not the only the level of CGI I liked in this film. But also the emotions they show. The acting is superb!
Sam Worthington is so underrated!!
have to say this performances are just amazing, I cried and laugh with them all along. that scene with Kate broke my heart and the emotion she felt pass through the screen, such good work. Sigourney is incredible in this, and Zoe's spectacular!
So worth the wait. I love the storytelling and how James took his time to develop this sequel because it really paid off.
Congrats to the animators for the amazing work taking the mocap and changing it/re-working it to get the performances we all see on screen!
Kate and Zoe were sooo good in this
This movie is art! A masterpiece for both actors and the director’s vision.
I waited for this movie for 13 long years and it didnt disappoint. Superb performance of the actors and actresses. I cried a number of times during the movie. Im looking forward to the next movies.
I am looking forward to more behind the scenes!!! I'm just amazed!!!

James Cameron is one of a kind. He's been pushing boundaries and blowing our minds since The Terminator. Can't wait to live this unique experience in 3 days, when I'm going to the cinema for it.

So much work goes into making it! It looks crazy here and the final effect is just spectacular!
I will say it right now …this film has a deep hold on my soul ❤
This film made me be thankful to be alive in this era. The amount of technology, the brilliant effects, the...the EVERYTHING!
Without doubt I can say this is the BEST film of this era.
One thing’s for sure. This film is about to get a lot of awards! 💙
I loved the movie. I had NO IDEA that was Kate Winslet playing the queen character. Mind blown
This is a movie for history. Not only because of the huge technology involved, but specially because of the script and performance.
Sigourney Weaver playing Kiri is priceless. Omg I swear every actor was casted perfectly 🥲❤️
Kate was AMAZING!! Such a well done character!!! All of them!!
During this whole video I had goosebumps ON TOP of my goosebumps
I didn't go see Avatar when the first one came out in theaters. I actually watched it for the first time this past weekend. What they were able to do in 2009 held up to some of the best CGI films that come out today. But when I went and saw this I was speechless. One of the most beautiful films I have ever seen in my life. It was a work of art. I remember thinking "How did Avatar make so much money?" But I totally understand it now. I can't wait for the rest of the films to come out. I loved every second of it
For me....Zoe Saldaña has put her soul in the role as Neytiri...very beautiful performance...so expressive...!!

What an experience. Every penny is worth. Remarkable experience. James Cameron did it once again
I can't believe how good this was
The CGI was beyond amazing
Everyone did so good, Kate Winslet really was unrecognizable
Literally the Best Sci-Fi Movie of the last 13 years.
I've seen it once on regular viewing then again on IMAX then again on 3D. This movie captures my heart just like it did on the first one, I love Pandora :) I specially connected with Kiri and her struggle to find peace on who she is and Lo'ak on trying to fit the mold that he thought he has to.
The movie was completely bad ass and the haters can it eat!
