      @Violetikas Před měsícem +47

      @@sophiepires792 for some people makeup is not just about looking good. It's just fun. Same as art, painting. You're just painting yourself. I am sitting in my bed in my pajamas, but while watching the video I just started testing all my bright lipsticks. Seeing all the colors, smiling to yourself in the mirror is therapeutic to some.

    • @sophiepires792
      @sophiepires792 Před měsícem +6

      @Violetikas I understand that. Colours are fun, but this young woman said she can't stand to look at herself in the mirror, so even at home she puts on make-up. It is the idea that you can't look at yourself with your bare natural face. That makes me sad. I get the impulse to try different colours, personally, I try different lipsticks for fun to decide what I want to wear that day. I am just saddened by how many women will not leave the home without make-up. Another lady said she has not left the house without make-up since the age of 12, and she is 70! Imagine being 12 and hiding your natural face. That worries me.

    I don’t go to a gym, but I do enjoy wearing a minimal amount of makeup whenever I want to just feel a bit better, even if I’m just at home alone and occasionally catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror. A bit of makeup really can lift my spirits. I also just genuinely enjoy the process of applying makeup, so it feels like a mini creative outlet and not a chore. This is a beautiful “minimum bar” makeup look that I would absolutely wear during one of those “home alone but need a little boost” days. Thank you for another lovely video, Lisa!

      I like feeling like I wish to look rested and fresh when I’m out and about and applying some makeup is part of that process. Almost everyone looks better with it BUT it’s about technique and amount as it could go horribly wrong if applied incorrectly. Simply watch some videos and learn. One always looks better and , in turn, feels better. It’s all about self satisfaction…no one else’s opinion should factor in that decision….ever…..

    If it makes you feel any better, I put on makeup to workout at home. I’m in front of a mirror and workout and enjoy it more. I even put my hair up in a whacky way (that I wouldn’t do in public) and put on a big lip (also wouldn’t do). Makes me feel sort of sexy pants and I push myself more. I used to wear makeup everywhere because I felt self-conscious without it and not as pretty. That didn't seem like a kind, healthy way of thinking about it, but I accepted it. Recently I've realized I simply feel like MYSELF when I have makeup on, and a cat eye is more ME than a bare face. I no longer feel bad about wearing making everywhere and anywhere. There's really no issue with it, and it's such a small thing that makes an enormous impact on mood, so there's nothing to lose. I'm grateful to have a mini superpower, and endlessly grateful to pros like you who've been so generous with makeup knowledge and allowed me to hone my skills over the years.

    I exercise in a similar manner to you. I also meet my husband at the gym during his lunch hour. On the days I exercise, I put on a tinted sunscreen, and I might also put concealer in a couple spots. I add blush and a light coat of mascara and lipgloss. I don’t want to see myself in the mirror, looking wretched either. If I take a spin class, it is usually after work, and I have make up on from the day. I go home and bathe afterwards anyway, so I usually have on some make up at the gym. People get to do what makes them feel good. Thanks for this video. It’s good to know I’m not alone. As someone with a chronic physical condition, I like to make sure my eyebrows look decent and put either a bit of tinted lip balm, or a little pencil very close to my own lip colour with my usual balm, just for me, so I absolutely understand where you're coming from. I do flush, especially on a hot day like today, with a bit of gardening, so no point in putting anything else on, as it's straight in with some nice Savon de Marseille and cold water!

    I literally wear makeup every day even when just staying home. I love the process of applying it and how transformative it can be. Its also the time when I can practise whatever new technique or idea I have seen in a video. When I do go to the gym ( Im rather sporadic with it) its a bit of tinted moisturizer and lip balm then out the door. Its not the makeup that motivates me to go but rather the glass of wine I promise myself for that evening if I do go lol.

    I see it as grooming; a combination of clean clothing a shower, and natural makeup. It's being respectful, to yourself, and others. We brush out teeth, shower, brush our hair, rather than keep it 'natural' as it is when we just wake up.
    The way Lisa is doing makeup here is like grooming; she still looks like Lisa. It's so quick and subtle, I wouldn't have noticed anything different, had she not posted before and after photos at the end.
    Something about her videos always give me a 'lift', it's a bit of positive energy, presented as makeup tips. Beautiful.

    • @greenknitter
      @greenknitter Před měsícem +3

      So the flip side is that not wearing makeup is not being respectful to others? Sorry, that's nonsense, and kind of offensive tbh. Do you tell men they are not being respectful to others if they don't conform to whatever beauty standard you set for them?
      And brushing your teeth and hair is necessary so we don't get cavities or matted hair- those are health issues. Not wearing makeup will not give you health problems.
      If you want to wear makeup that's fine of course, I do too sometimes, but let's be honest about it's utility.

If it happens in the morning or at home I don't care, because we seldom work out I front of the mirror and if we do, my face is the least of my worries... I try to use the mirror more for form correction instead of how I look in my outfit or how strained I might look... if that makes sense. But all in all I can totally get behind the psychological aspect of putting on makeup/the perfect outfit to boost confidence for whatever heads my way! I love putting on makeup for the gym. My everyday look is usually minimal, but I use the gym as an excuse to try out new colors and products. That way, I just have it on for a couple of hours and sweat/wash it off. Plus, like you, I’m not trying to impress anyone at the gym. Thus, I feel more free to play around with my makeup. Working out really puts makeup to the test; it’s a great way to see which products I can trust. Recently, I’ve been wearing the kitten mascara to the gym. It works great!

    Absolutely yes to gym make up! In the summer I user concealer, bronzer, a touch of blush, a wee bit of natural shade on my eyelids, mascara and lip balm, and of course I check that my eyebrows don’t look crazy. I do it for me and because I feel good I train harder💜💜

    I loooove this topic & video! I wear makeup to the gym. It’s always fun to experiment and play with different looks, colors, and textures. It’s such a wonderful mood booster and a great way to start my day after skincare. I have a 1yr old so it’s the only time I have for myself to do something for ME that makes me feel good. Of course, by the end of the day I look a wreck but at least at 7am I felt & looked pretty :) Nobody should feel ashamed, silly, or embarrassed for wearing makeup to the gym! Do what makes you feel good as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody ♥️

    I actually feel exactly the same! My husband doesn’t understand why I would put a bit of makeup on before going to the gym (he may worry I am trying to look good for the guys there 😅), but it really gives me this boost of mental energy! A bit of concealer, eyebrows brushed, the redness on the sides of my noise off, and a touch of blush on the nose and cheeks, and I feel energetic, awake, and fierce! Ready to go lift those weights. I actually noticed that when I do not do it, and it happens often, I feel more drained and tired when I look in the mirror (with those horrible lights from the ceiling). I will do one, two or all of these things according to how I feel. But one step that I now find essential for me is a setting spray at the end, it gives a slight healthy shine and helps the illusion last. Thank you for this video! I feel less weird now! 😄

    OMG I love this! I've never thought about it, but you are 100% correct- looking 'not dead' in the horrid gym lighting just makes ME feel better and ready to tackle the outside world. I use a tinted spf, will ALWAYS curl my lashes and conceal any spots or discoloration. If I have more time, I'll run some bronzer over my face and a lippy. It's funny but it really does help my workout to look in the mirror and look decent. Thank you for this!

    I have worn makeup to the gym for years, and still do. And I do it for all the reasons you do. Also I do a lot of cardio: bike and rowing machine, for about an hour cumulatively. Then machines. I also wear moisture wicking clothing in pretty colors. It's a gym wardrobe. A personal trainer once told me that dressing for working out is the same as for any event. He thinks that showing at least the same level of respect for a workout session as you would for any appointment, enhances performance. I like that idea and tend to agree.
    My makeup routine is similar to yours. I also wear earrings. Studs or buttons, usually. But I wear diamonds if I'm in the mood. My best face products for workouts are Perricone MD Tinted Moisturizer, Touche Eclat (to brighten under the eyes instead of concealer), Danessa Myrick Blurring Balm (instead of powder. locks on makeup if you're sweating.), an Hourglass 6 pan palette for face color and a quick eye look, powder eyeshadow as liner (lasts through anything), Caliray tubing mascara, and a lipstick that doesn't move or feather, like one of Charlotte Tilbury's mattes. Thanks for the video!💚

    My everyday makeup is pretty much what you did in this video, and I usually go to the gym after work, so that’s the makeup I’ll wear! I also take ballet classes and I do add a little makeup for the class! Usually I’ll put on some eyeshadow, maybe just a sparkly thing all over the lid or a little definition with two different shades, I’ll put on an extra coat of mascara, powder my face and do a whole lip combo (liner, lipstick and gloss on top)! I think it makes me feel more confident, it’s easier to find the beauty in the movements when I feel that I look the best I possibly can ❤️

    I’m an avid gym goer (CrossFit for years, now general strength training with some conditioning). I love just a bit to feel pulled together; I swear by Cover Girl’s Lash Blast Volume Water Resistant mascara, Glo Skin Beauty’s tinted primer, Urban Decay’s Big Bush Brow gel, and a little CTHFF over the primer for a little extra glow.

    Totally agree with you Lisa! I don't go to the gym but I do horseriding and I always do a little makeup before going to the horses although I always become dusty and sweaty but I feel much better. The leopard ambient palette of hourglass is very convenient because it has everything in it and is very lightweight. I do even makeup when I am sick and I always feel much better and healthier afterwards. It is also always about the products you use. The products from westman atelier are very comfortable.

    I am glad you're talking about gym makeup. I sometimes just wear concealer, but like you if I have time I will add cream on the eyelid. I would think of it as elements and try not to take it too seriously. Or I might try no makeup and after the gym I might add the concealer as like you I run some errands locally. Gyms can be unnerving at the best of times so if a little makeup can motivate you and encourage you in that shared environment, then why not do what makes you happy.

    I’m all abt doing what makes you feel good-whether that’s a clean face, slightly enhanced, or full beat, do it! Life’s got its challenges and we all need to look after ourselves.
    I personally train in the evenings, and I enjoy makeup. It’s usually already applied since it’s a part of how I begin the day. I’m a sweat-er to begin w, but if it’s an intense sweat session, evening out my skin tone, defining my socket (also a hoodie gal), brows, and top lip line (that’s fading away)

    I feel the same way. I know I´ll get all messy after working out, however I do my hair, I wear a tiny bit of fragrance, I use makeup and I choose a cute outfit every single time. It´s minimal makeup. I use a bit of foundation in my eyelids to hide the veins, I curl my lashes and put mascara on. If I'm feeling extra, I use a bit of eyeshadow just as you do and maybe some minimal eyeliner. I even do all this when I´m working out at home and nobody else can see me.
    I do weight lifting for strenght, mobility training and I am an aerialist. Same makeup for all of these activities.
    It makes me feel better and I workout harder and don´t feel the urge of finishing up earlier than I should just because I don´t feel put together. I know nobody is watching, everyone is focused on their own workout, yet I do this every single time.
