So classic how many of the younger Triathlon Professionals said Lionel Sanders was never going to win any race again. And here Lionel destroys everyone like the young Pro's who said that could only dream of doing. Congratulations to Idol Lionel Sanders.
I was there & Lionel looked like a mad man! He was out to get business done. Looked real strong on the run & once he took the lead, he never looked back.
Lionel was smashing those high fives, I bet a few spectators had sore hands after that 😄

Great breakdown! I am really happy for Lionel and I'm impressed with Sam especially after that Miami race. I don't think he was fully recovered but he came and performed amazingly. Congrats to them both.

He swam near enough the same time in 2018 - he had a good swim yes but everyone is jumping on this narrative that he's improved dramatically!
@@danedwards4966, in 2018 he finished about 2:20 behind the leaders, yesterday he finished about 1:10 behind the leaders. It's a huge difference.

@THE DAILY TRY, thank you… thank you so much for posting this. I raced Oceanside 70.3 this year and I couldn’t watch the stream. I saw that the replay required a subscript to Outside+ (who charges a full year for a subscription) so I had no opportunity to see clips from yesterday. Seeing this recap was so helpful and enjoyable and I just subscribed. I’m also a little surprised I wasn’t subscribed earlier because I do watch your videos

What Lionel inspired me its because he was a nobody when he started as triathlete compare to those competitive athletes.and then now, a lot of people believes that he can no longer win races and better to retire.Im excited for him whats gonna be the highlight of his career for this season!

Good breakdown on this amazing race. Outside app and coverage were garbage (compared to PTO last week). If you're watching on your phone, you can't minimize/multi-task like you can on youtube. Same goes for their broadcast on their website. The video was very behind the actual results for me, so I had to keep exiting and re-entering the app to get it up to speed. Didn't hear any of the finisher interviews, because the broadcasters mics were on instead.
I think you need to do a pre and post race vid with all those “new thingys” you wanted to add.

I don’t understand why people keep thinking short course (Olympic distance) athletes will win in these or T100 races. They always blow up…

Am happy to be wrong after predicting Lionel to misjudge *something* and finish second. All that time in the pool is paying off.
He definitely had a good swim but I think it's a bit of a fallacy he's improved dramatically... he swam near enough exactly the same time in 2018!!
@@danedwards4966 yes, but - thou also in the harbor, you still need to take current + temp + wetsuit-fit + who's legs you are on etc. - its at least +/- 10% so poor ground for comparison, unless you got some specific delta on these data points.
It is so annoying that everyone thought Geens was a favorite and talk about him incessantly. Why is the ONLY conventional wisdom that he had a good first 70.3 and therefore would ONLY improve? What if that first time was his best? I never thought he'd podium.
Such a shame IM continues their march of providing piss poor race coverage year after year in pursuit of advertising money, not seeming to understand that if you want the sport to grow in popularity, and create a very lucrative fan base, you have to provide much, much better broadcasting. Fortunately PTO is understanding this a lot better, and beginning to provide some quite decent coverage of their races, so get your act together IM and try moving into the 21st century.
Agree completely. There is no way I could get a non triathlete family to watch that coverage with me. For most of the race purely watching the tracker app was more entertaining
They make more money on the age groupers. That's why they don't care.
@@thisstuschannel in general yes. - it would be max 20% extra from what they spend on coverage already - Lifting the video streams - having 2 x 2 streams (1 leader + 2. pursuit grp for both m & w) and with better quality of info ex. a tracker field window in the video with top 10 (both m & w) + their moving up down etc.
- Regarding PTO - I bought and paid for Eurosport for 1 month (only watching option here in Denmark Europe) only to get an videofeed with no comments / speak (which I hear was Jan the Goat) With no sound / speak, the experience is a really mess :-/
- So my experience of PTO (well clash miami at least) was as just as poor as this. :-/
What are the differences between pro and amateur.
Just the speeds they are going and the opportunity to compete for prize money. Otherwise the distances are the same!
