- Kalela dance originated from the benaNgumbo people of Ngumbo area in Luapula Province. Since these people lived on the lake shores of Lake bangweulu, Kalela dance has seen its dominance to the people living in areas near and surrounded by lake Bangweulu in Northern Province of Zambia. These are Chishi, Mbabala, Chilubi Island, Chilubi main land, Lunga ,Ngumbo, nsombo and Lubwe. Normally this dance is performed to show friendship between the benangumbo and bisa speaking people because they have mixed among themselves through intermarriages. Friendship is developed called in local language “ ba SEE baMukalela” when ever each group is visiting , ba SEE should prepare a special gift for he/she and should spend a night just there kuliba SEE wabo. Currently Kalela dance has spread into the rest of the Country - Zambia despite loosing its original dancing styles and beating of drums. Kalela dance is well known by its dancing style called Forward mama forward. This mean that, instead the dancers going forward as per say, they dance going backwards.
Proud of our culture keep up brother kalela dance
Thank you Mr chibula and God bless you all the time
Kalela Dance, I miss the styles that I personally liked to watch in the early days of the 1980s when I was at Njipi Primary School in Samfya District of Luapula Province in the Republic of Zambia.
Nice thanks for documenting history

Is the language bemba ?
its Bisa language
It is not the Bemba language, it is clustered under the Bemba dialects. There are some words that are similar, but this Ng'umbo as well Kabende language is different from the Bemba language.
It is Bisa. No, it is not a dialect but a distinct language among the Bisa
