- The Mateus Asato Signature Series is available in two finishes: Gloss Black and Antiqued Shell Pink. Both models feature our Even C Medium neck profile, which is carved from silky-smooth satin finished Roasted Maple. The Indian Rosewood fingerboard features our 9″-12″ compound radius and is appointed with 22 stainless steel heavy frets. A 2-Post Tremolo, V63+ single-coils, and Custom Alnico humbucker complete the specs. Each guitar comes with a special laser-engraved neck plate, Mateus’ signature on the back of the headstock, and is delivered in a classy black tolex hardshell case.

I love Strats but for the longest time have had a hate-smitten-hate relationship with my MIJ. Recently I came across a near MINT Player Strat, long story short it's now mine, and I almost can't put it down. It's not "the one", but it's still a really nice instrument to play on. No idea what to do with trying to "thin the herd" though!

I think you are a great guitar player Jonathan. Been following your channel for many years now. I have been playing guitar for close to 40 years now, and while as a guitar player i am nowhere near your level of proficiency, i consider myself to have some knowledge about what makes a guitar good or bad, having built many guitars myself. I have to be careful what I say now, because it might sound a bit negative, but, it is not my intention. So ok, I will say it - I think expensive guitars are a bit of a scam these days. I will explain why, making a good electric guitar is pretty straightforward, all you need is stable wood and good fretwork and setup, basically. The hardware and electronics are straightforward too, been around for decades. Historically, we can see stages. First, there were only the established brands, in the 70s ibanez and other manufacturers started to challenge those brands, which created a offspring. One being, the established manufacturers started to split up their range, and we got custom shop, masterbuilt, historic, private stock, wood library, bfr (ball family reserve) - and the list goes on and on, as a response to "how are we going to keep our sales/revenues up as a response to competitors ?" - The other is, we saw small manufacturers who compete in the "high-end" niche as a response to that too. In other words, it is more about how do we make ours different from others while it's essentially made the same way. The truth is, in my opinion, that there is very little difference between all of those niches and ranges that we are made to believe is "better". Now, i have both expensive and cheap guitars, and i can't really tell them apart blindfolded.

Suhr, Music Man, Duesenberg - brands that continue to make QUALITY instruments, held to a very high standard. The materials are obviously superior to generic brands. They're expensive as hell, but you're getting what you pay for.
