From my understanding the Gaahleri airbrushes are unique since they have the “8 channel” Quick self centering nozzle.
    My questions:
Do other similar airbrushes have a “quick self centering nozzle"?
What makes Ghac 98D superior to the Ghad 39? The only physical difference? At first glance is…
Needle: Ghac 98D has a 0.38 needle vs Ghad 0.35 needle
Needle: Ghac 98D has a Flexible needle (only mentioned in Ghac 65 and up) vs Ghad 0.35 no mention of a flexible needle. Please confirm other models like Ghad-68 and down comes with flexible needle?
Ghac 98D has Mirror fixed cup vs Ghad 39 Non mirror removeable cup. I’m assuming this makes cleaning easier?
Aside from needle sizes, “flexible needles” and mirror cup what makes Ghac 98D superior to the Ghad 39? Does Ghac 98D atomize the paint better due to the “flexible needle” and needle sizes? What am I missing?

Depending on how cheap you went, I would absolutely recommend looking into something better, you don't have to spend $100+ but an okay $30-60 airbrush makes a world of difference. Sometimes you get lucky with the cheap stuff, but their QC is so low effort it might take 4 or 5 tries, and that assumes you know airbrush well enough to tell that it's the brush, and not you after only a few seconds of use.

    • @JDsHouseofHobbies

As a designer, I really appreciate the box design. These airbrushes really seem to be good quality for the price. One thing to note, though. I have a similar airbrush with the "chambers" they can sometimes clog, and even when one of them is glogged, the airbrush won't spray properly, so that's something to look out for.

Thanks for posting this! I wrecked my 15 year old iwata HP-CS by overtightening the nozzle, and was shopping for replacement parts when I came across your video. It was a better deal to purchase a new Gaahleri brush. I needed a good cost effective .5 airbrush for priming and this one suits my needs perfectly. I still want to fix that iwata because I hate having broken things lying around, but couldn't justify the expense when something of this quality could be had for $40.

The GHAC-98 Dual sprays VERY NICE! I used my GSI Creos PS-289 needle chuck though because I always disassemble my airbrushes prior to first use to clean and lube. Very nice! It seemed like the Ace really liked the primer, maybe more than the paint. They've really done the work to lay out some nice brushes and do some innovating in the process. I don't know why I didn't think of polishing the inside of my cups! I really wish they had sent you their trigger airbrush, as that would be up my ally. It looks good and uses some of the Ace and the Premium parts and has the eight channel tip. Well hopefully they'll send one your way and you can do some testing on that one.

Great review! I can't believe that gun sprayed Model Air at 15 psi straight out of the bottle as well as it did!! I usually have to thin it with 2-3 drops of the Vallejo thinner and then crank the PSI to 20+ (on a 0.5 needle) just to get it to spray properly. Gaahleri has done their homework and produced an airbrush I would have made (if I had the money), which means I'll be purchasing two of the Ace models so I don't have to switch needles. • @pawpawstew

That's some impressive quality and performance for the price point. At first I was perplexed that a .02 needle set isn't included nor available. I typically spray paint at 12-15 psi with the smaller needle set in my Iwata HP-CS and use my Badger Patriot with a .03 needle set at 25-30 psi for primer. I'm really impressed that the ACE model will get such fine lines with no spatter using the .38 tip. Pure speculation here, but it seems from a design point, these guys have maybe cracked the code on removing air turbulence at the needle. I know by removing the tip guard from my Iwata, I can get finer lines. So it appears that the tip guard actually introduces air turbulence, which affects how fine a line you can get. I'm not currently in the market for a new airbrush, but I'll definitely be telling folks about this. I'm impressed.

    • @gaahleristudio
      @gaahleristudio Před rokem +3

Actually, the concentricity of the needle nozzle plays a major role in determining the fineness of the line, not just the diameter of the needle. The design of the air passage is mainly aimed at achieving a more uniform atomization effect. Our design aims to make this airbrush suitable for more scenarios, and after years of research, we have overcome the problem of maintaining concentricity with a quick self-centering drop-in nozle structure, resulting in very small production tolerances and lower pricing for mass production. If you have any other questions, feel free to email us!

Your badger has the multiple air channels also. They are in the housing right in front of that single hole you showed. That hole is the air passage from the air check valve at the base of the body to the tip of the brush. The air comes out that hole into the nozzel housing and spreads out through the housing, then comes out the evenly spaced holes around that housing to spray around the nozzel tip abd needle.
Still these look like nice brushes. But i can't let you misrepresent my badgers 😂😅😂😅

First off, thanks for this review. I am happy to see new companies entering the market. I must be missing something though. For $120 you can pick up a Harder & Steenbeck Ultra, an Iwata Revolution, a Badger 105, a GSI 289, or many other name brand airbrushes. Other than the Chrome cup, which is nice, I don't see what would make me choose this airbrush over any of those. You are basically spending name brand money for a company that has no brand recognition, currently offers no replacement parts, and has pretty much one detailed review. I took a look at the $40 offering, and it looks almost identical to a $30 Timbertech set I own. Is the 8 channel MAC nozzle worth a 25% premium? Don't get me wrong, I hope this company can hang in there for the long haul, but right now it doesn't make much sense for me to buy one of these brushes unless they are heavily discounted.

Been shopping around for my Nephew's first airbrush for his tutelage, and was pretty set now, but this has me tempted lol. They both definitely seem like great gear to use. Haven't used the Iwata's myself (used others mostly) but have obviously always heard great reports.
Thanks again for all of your work and time! Have a good one!

I own the ghad 39, the ghad 68, the ghac 98d, and the new swallowtail barbatox rex trigger ab. All are good brushes that I plan on keeping. With that said, the swallowtail has given me some trouble with the trigger not being smooth and with sharp corners on the trigger not being beveled. The brush becomes downright uncomfortable after a while. Whoever manufactures these brushes for Gaahleri represents the best quality that mainland china is currently producing. However, the price points of the 98 and swallowtail series are too high when compared to sparmax(better quality) and gsi creos(even better quality). I have no doubt Gaahleri will up their quality to compete with these 2 mentioned above companies. They are just not quite there yet. At their current pricing structure there are better choices to be had. I didn’t mention Iwata because although excellent brushes, they don’t really compete with Gaahleri price wise. I don’t know of an ab on the market better than a gsi creos for the price. They represent the best value in ab’s imho.

Dang, wish I had found this a couple of weeks earlier since I missed the coupon deal, and the base price is a couple bucks higher as well. I've been looking for a cheap starter to re-learn with. I had previously tried a couple of siphon feed models, a Harbor Freight and an old Badger model I found, but constantly had problems and moved on. Been wanting to give it another try at some point with a gravity feed and was tossing around a Timbertech or NEOECO. Not in a huge hurry. Is this starter brush really a step above the others?

Purchased the Gaahleri GHAC-98D today for a Sunday delivery! Amazon gave an extra 5% discount in addition to the Barbatos Rex 20% discount for a total of 25%! Total cost out of pocket was $89.99 plus tax. This is on par with what I paid for the GSI Creos line of airbrushes also recommended by Barbatos Rex. I really like that they polished the inside surface of the color cup, and am wondering if this is possible to do on some of my other brushes?!

Bought a GHAD-39 with two nozzle sizes, very impressed with the engineering standard of the build, certainly better than the the other entry level tools I have (Harbor Freight & NeoEco) - the consistency of the results produced in fine work is especially satisfying and I believe delivered by the fluid control knob mechanism and ease of cleaning made possible by the design. I am only concerned with getting spare parts as and if I need them - the NeoCon and the HFT are problematic for spares; the Paasche VL & VLS I have are great for spares but can't really do fine work consistently; Can't seem to find spares online - Anyone got suggestions?
