Biffa deleted the road in front of the houses in the last episode, during the construction of the church, in the main village and never realized it.
Biffa, you keep waiting for more families, but you don't build any houses for them. Build more than just these 4 houses, and you will have an abundance of extra families where you could double crew them on the farm, which will speed up the chances of good crops.
Yes. We're waiting for families to move in with no empty houses.😅
@@beth7808yeah he's a little dense
Also the city is lvl 1 for more then 4h playtime🥲 not what you want for a Growth victory without growth
Kept yelling this at the screen XD
@@lentsey9363 you don't have to rush to victory, you can savor the path to it (and pump out more revenue-generating content doing it)
The only thing keeping me sane is watching Biffa play this because I can barely wait to play this
Enjoy :-)
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Tip: The first line you draw when constructing houses is the front of the lot, so you always want to draw the front first to have a better idea of how it will look when you are finished drawing.
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Your windmill has been paused the entire episode. You haven't been making flour at all. *facepalm*😄

@@marcosvfg100watch the flipping video… also the sheep farm has its own internal 5 space pasture 💆♂️👍
It's mental that this game is mostly made by one single developer. Hes been working on this for seven years and is about to be a self made millionaire. 👏
and he got snow right on properties and buildings, something the multi million dollar company with hundreds of employees couldn't do in Cities Skylines 2.
I rather suspect a multi-millionaire by the the end of the weekend - bit of a J.K Rowling story ? Good for him I say 👍
A tip on the pronounciation: You got the Zw- sound all right, the next part sounds exactly like you would say "I", as in "I am about to...", the last part (au) sounds like the first part of out. Greetings from Germany! Love the game, so happy you're playing!
Thanks for the tips!
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines 'Zwei' (in german) means two, and 'Au' or 'Aue' could be refering to a meadow, (? lea, floodplain, water meadow ?) and I assume it would be pronounced Zwei-Au in the way @Sungirl801 explained so perfectly, but i guess maybe even with a little 'pause' inbetween the parts of the a 'compound name'. maybe the meaning was discusse in a pervious video and i missed it, but i thought i add this information.
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines or just change the name to something tea related 🤔
Biffa waiting for families to move in, when all the burgages are full! 😂
This comment!!!
Hey Biffa,
nice series so far. Something that keeps getting me is your confusion around wheat. Wheat is a winter hard crop (there are a summer varieties, but they have less yield and are more susceptible for disease).
So what your people do is: sow the seeds in year one and harvest it the next year. Wheat stops growing when it gets to cold (it actually needs a cold shock to properly "grow" - vernalization). So it seems like, when you did the early harvest the crops didn't fully count as ripe yet and thus you didn't get any stock. (I haven't played the game, but this seems reasonable.)
So people seeding wheat around 18:00 actually create the next years yield for you.
I hope this helps. :)
Your farm is working perfectly, each season your pops will do an activity. Because the field was being harvested in the summer rather than the autumn it hadn't grown to produce a good yield yet. You need to just let it grow and next year it will be a full harvest as you're expecting. The heavy plow will actually only benefit you if you build multiple fields as it will increase your pops' efficiency, letting them tend more fields in a given season.
No. The fertility at the field is so low (~10%), it wouldn't make any sense to put so much workforce on it with that little outcome. Needs to be fallow for 1 or 2 years to build up fertility! Better place 3 or 4 smaller fields and let 2 or 3 of them fallow, while working on the others. Sorce: Ostriv, quite similar game mechanics.
Pro tip: Place just the fields (not the farm) very soon at the beginning of the game and put them on fallow, so they can gain fertility over the full first year. 👍
Love the Video.
When you build a burgage Plot you can Turn the Layout and then use -/+ next to the build Button to Change the Number of Buildings in the Plot
I hope biffa sees your comment, but its also a little funny to watch his tries to make less houses with plot placements😅
i have binged about 6+ hours of manor lords yesterday, i just cant get enough
no one moved in bc there were no empty houses, when you hovered over the amount of families it said so in yellow
also reckon you can still use the leather to make clothing by building the cobbler extension
one thing i love about the House addons is how real they are.
old settlers used (and current settlers still do) to have their own private farming gardens / hen houses / etc, and trade whatever surplus they produce with their neighbours
it would be nice to have that game mechanic be the starting point of the game, other than build specialized buildings for families to be assigned to
5:22 The houses face the side which is made first, for eg. if you make the side facing the road first, the houses will face the road.
and you might need more families on the farm.
More families don't gain fertility to the soil, which was at low as ~11%! Ostriv (similar game mechanics )taught me the hard way. ;)
So tired of friends saying lets play a game together and then disappearing. Can't wait for this one to come out, thanks for the installments Biffa. It gives us a bit of a heads start and answers questions.Always the best intro or info on any game, again thanks.
You're welcome :-)
This game looks like it's gonna be absolutely cracking! Best we've seen since Banished I think
Hopefully it will be. Not a game yet. Early access will by all accounts still be in alpha. Dev guy'll obviously make a lot of money, but he'll need an actual team and a lot more time to work on the title.
Never seen or played Ostriv? It's quite similar, just without the fighting parts.
You can make dyes from berries to make the cloaks, you just need to build the building that produces it
Importing raw products and exporting the finished goods always works well. Clay/Tiles, Barley/Booze Berries/Dyes
You deleted the road in front of the burgages last episode. Please put it back!!
It'll be back soon! ;-)
Thank you!!!
Based on the German "zwei", I've been pronouncing the town "tsw- eye-ow". Love this series!!!
I'm loving this series! Please keep it as an ongoing after release ❤
Hope this has Steam workshop enabled, modding for this will be amazing.
Biffa don’t forget about raiders others are been raided from year 3 onwards, so build your defence
To assign another oxen to the post you just click the big fat oxen symbol next to the horse symbol - like you do with upgrading houses. Those are buttons.
I do find it hilarious all the snarky, smug, self professed experts shouting "OMG Biffa XY&Z" when all you've done is watch other youtubers play as it's not available for you to play. I'm not saying Biffa hasn't watched anyone else, but he's said he's learning as he's going. I also imagine this video was prerecorded before the last one was released.
Oh, on that note... Chickens are your friends... sh!t load of eggs!
I love backseat gamers who haven't played yet... the best kind 😅
When the townbell is klinging, it means there is another month over
Ah!
There are certain CZcamsrs that I don't understand how it is they don't have millions of viewers and to me Biffa right at the top of that list, I am always looking forward to his new video, they are so entertaining!
I appreciate that! Thank you :-)
I believe the setting on the Livestock trading post is for surplus livestock, that are held in reserve to trade out. You may have to order more, beyond the surplus amount, to populate the pastures and wool shop.
It was a crime to give early access to youtubers, I want to play it so badly but also want to watch IT!!
Why, its a genius move. Free advertisement and builds up hype.
Hey Biffa, once you've drawn out the plot for your burgages, you can click the + or - next to the hammer to increase or decrease the number of burgages in the plot.
Maybe you needed to start with a smaller field, since you only have ONE family working such a large one?
Also, does wool turn in to linen through another building?
Enjoying the game, it's so pretty.
Biffa check out “one proud Bavarian” his let’s play goes over some great German history, as how he builds his empire up.
Ps someone also said you only get 6 dvp with each region. So they advice to choose sparingly.
I am so obsessed with this game and series, I hope you'll enjoy playing it for a long time!
Biffa (naming chickens): Dave, Edna and Frieda.
Me: Dame Edna?
32:32 "No population growth (All Burgage Plots are occupied)" ...and Biffa's wondering why no families are moving in. xD
Game looks magnificent btw ;)
Was noting that as well
Hold TAB for an overview, build more houses, goats give you hides as well in the upgraded houses and build a few large houses so you can get more goats, chickens and veg growing and going to market. Buy horses for your traders to be better. You're welcome! 😉
16:24 think it turned away just as you placed it, 21:55 thought so, you have it the wrong way round, got the back towards the path
41:00 That moment when Biffa is looking for his sheep but the sheep is too good at hide & seek
I really love this series, I hope it goes on❤
22:30 Jacob the human and Jacob the ox. That's gonna be confusing in conversation around town.
Still no roundabouts LOL
This game looks so cool and seems so fun, looking forward to it's release.
Thank you for keeping the series going and showcasing the game.
My pleasure!
I love how pretty this game is. Thanks for the series
29:47 Try to increase the surplus. That might help to sent extra sheeps to that burn
This game looks so gorgeous. Keep it up Biffa, I wanna see how this village turns out!
I think to get the farm land preapared on time, try pausing it for now then wait for spring to unpause it, then they should start plowing it when they need to (spring), the crops will fully grow during the summer, and the harvest is in autumn. Before pausing them make sure the field is clear from any other crops. And before unpausing them make sure to set which crops they need to make.
And maybe make more farms so you can make more crops in one year. ❤
Hope it helps :)
Just got the game and watching these to learn to play 😊 making mistakes with you while I do so. Thank you, Biffa! I hope you come back to this game when the full version comes out ❤
Thankyou. BTW, I haven't stopped playing on my channel 👍😁
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylinesI just saw that! 😅 my head is always in the clouds, but I claim I see clearly. Thank you!
00:38 Dame Edna and Frida 🤣 It sounded like that anyway.
Great to see you playing this game Biffa - looking forward to release of this beautiful alpha! I have sort of given up on cities skylines 2 until there are assets and more fixes (despite having 300 hours in it) - so this looks lovely and from all the play I have seen there seems to be no game or deal breakers. Lucky you having contact with Greg for help! But yea, after cities skylines I think you are simultaneously over-thinking and under-thinking things at times LOL.
Also you missed a trick when laying out your houses... after selecting the area you can hit the min-max buttons to adjust the size of the plots... so if you have a row of say 6 you can make them bigger and drop to 5, 4, 3 or 2, allowing for bigger gardens or room for two families.
If your trades are taking too long get a horse or two....you need to beef up on the wood, cos virtually everything hinges on it, and getting more families moved in to have more workers. Not being a smarty pants here - just what I've observed.... and as I say, this has a really different mechanic than say CS2 or indeed most other games :)
I love that it feels totally organic, and love how you can get your roads and paths to flow without the complexity seen in other titles. I had to laugh when you got baffled when you looked at one peasant and said she was carrying a sheep...then zoomed in and she's carrying wool and you wondered where it had come from LOL.... You sound like a midlands guy, so I presume you know where wool comes from hahaha! Brilliant.
Can you rename your village? If so I suggest Zee Teelanz :)
It appears your sheep have run amok! You're going to need a brave adventurer to aid in their return!
This guy drives me insane. First of all, he deleted his main road through the village and somehow never noticed, and now he’s waiting for new families to move in when all of his burgages have been full for ages
Noones perfect 😅
Love that burgage upgrades are not only dependent on stocked ressources or money, but urge the user for more intelligent and complex approach instead
For farming you should get as many families working it as you can, you also need lots of empty houses ready for new people
Such a lovely game seriously!! So many options it makes my head explode. You are doing so well with it Biffa and you teach us a lot along the way🤩
Oh my Gawd! Look at that traffic!
Mate, you do know that those houses have each a kitchen in them where they cook their veggies and meat?
What do you think they need that fuel for in summer xD
I do know that, yes :-)
For the field maybe build a second field and have it set to fallow during the wheat season and wheat to when the other field is set to fallow so you will always have wheat for bread. (Only just started watching don't know if you did this yet)
Quite right! The fertility at the field is so low (~10%), it wouldn't make any sense to put so much workforce on it. Needs to be fallow for 1 or 2 years. Better place 3 or 4 smaller fields and let 2 or 3 of them fallow, while working on the others. Sorce: Ostriv, quite similar game mechanics.
Pro tip: Place just the fields (not the farm) very soon at the beginning of the game and put them on fallow, so they can gain fertility over the full first year!
Amazing that this game is largely the work of one developer, once the 26th hits he'll be set for life.
Oh for sure!
I'm looking forward to this game so much I actually started a new game of Banished to pass the time while I wait.
I have seen others put in the cobblers upgrade early on, uses up the leather making loads of shoes that fetch a good price when traded
Made my day ❤ I love this series 🎉
Missing so many tea sipping spots after the first one :( Making me cry here Biffa, we need our Yorkshire tea!!! 😝🥰
Biffa, my boy! You're building this backwards... The Church and the water well are always it the higher portion of the towns, so that people don't have to carry water uphill and the stream don't get contaminated by waste/sewage polution.
I'm gonna for sure get this when it comes out! Also, maybe they'll think of an expansion DLC being an online multiplayer where you can do 1 too 3 Lords on 1 map and you all have to try to conquer one another? just a idea.
You can change the name of your town by clicking into the town perks or whatever. There's a button next to the town name at the top in that menu. Watched another guy change his name like that.
Am I the only one that smacked their head when Biffa didn't spend the point on the orchard 😂
Yes.
It makes me scream 😅 when Biffa place houses but not adjust the number of plots in the selected area. Give the ones you want as “farms” bigger gardens. It also makes your town way more interesting and gives you the “extension “ option.
Cant wait to play this. 🎉❤😊
No need to scream... I'm just making different choices from you 😉
Just to let you know. If u ever were to increase the size of your farm your pasture cuts into the good yielding part of the field
... how many other german speakers irked by the way he pronounces stuff XD
in all seriousness - love the series, biffa!
i need to play this ! this counting down feels like years !
Cloaks requires yarn, which you get from wool.
If you have sheep, you can get wool from them by shearing them, this can be turned into yarn, you can plant flax in a field, which can be turned into linen at the weaver workshop. Hides, which I believe you can get from goats in an expansion of a Burgage Plot and from hunting, can be made into leather at the tannery, not sure if leather is used to make clothing or only to make armor or for trading.
7:12-7:33 This decision to get 3 oxen would be a bad idea, if this isn't showing the maximum number you want, but as you said "4 altogether". You only have one hitching location, and 2 stable spaces. You already have Jacob, so if, in total, you will 4 oxen but only 3 places. When looking at the stable space it says animals may run away if not enough space is provided.
If you have an extra family, you can greatly reduce your firewood need if you build a charcoal kiln this converts firewood into charcoal and it is a more efficient fuel.
14:49 the livestock trading post has stables for 2 oxen and pasture for 4 sheep
21:00-21:35 Market stall needs are fulfilled by how close the market is to the Burgage Plot. Those closest get their needs met first.
28:19 You can not administer policies, nor levy taxes until you have an administrative building, such as your manor.
32:00-32:15 You will not get new families moving in. You have housing for 16 families, you have 15 assigned and 1 unassigned family. No one is bringing their family here to be homeless. You must have additional Burgage Plots, or expand your level 2 plots, to make room for additional families.
37:07 When you added the expansion (Tailors shop) to the level 2 Burgage Plot you increased your housing by 1 family. Although everyone in that plot is now an artisan.
Finally at the 41:00 mark you decided "build more houses" That should get you some families moving in since you will have space for unassigned non-artisans, and a whopping 93% Approval. I'd suggest another stretch of 4+ more burgage plots, but you might want to wait until close to spring, try to get a couple more families onto the farming and add another field by the farmhouse set to flax the first year to produce flax for linen, you might also, short term put a second family working the sheep farm to get your sheep herded and sheared for wool which is made into yarn This will provide you with more resources for the market stall and provide materials for your new tailors to make finished goods.
Hi Biffa, you can rename people but only from the people tab in the house. Click the house, go to people tab an click the name and you should be able to type.
Biffa really the anticipation on this one has been growing for me since 2021, if you were to give it a rating out of 10 what do you think?
I understand you are playing early access so will take that into consideration. Also understand there are no trains so that may take it down
a notch.
For yarn, etc. you need a weaver's building. You were looking at it earlier
I'm gonna go ahead and say it's pronounced: Ts-wai(like kawai)-au(like dow jones) Ts-wai-au, tswaiau. I'm Dutch AF, but German phonetically sure is a challenge for anyone ^^.
Also, you CAN rename your peasants. It's in the building menu, where you can see the seperate characters and where they are. You can click their names there and change them :)
Thanks for the info!
Can you number the episodes please? You started the first one with #1, it makes them easier to find :)
Otherwise very nice game, I can't wait until it is released!
No sorry (for CZcams reasons), but I have a handy playlist with them all in :-)
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Alright 👍
I know I'm a couple episodes behind, but still waiting for biffa to realize he deleted the road between all the houses in the town center
Yes!! Loved the last video and was hoping for more
Thanks, this is episode 3 and a 4th is on the way with more to follow :-)
"I would rename them if I could, but I cant..." - sure you can, I believe in you! ;) - They just use the meat in their house. To cook meat is easy, but baking bread needs an oven.
Hello Biffa. See when you click on 'Jacob' it highlight the name so you could change his name and of course all others.
Zweiau is two syllables Zwei - au.
Zwei = two
Au = Floodplain
For pronunciation, the "Au" is pronounced like in loud, for example.
and Zwei is ... tsveye? take the word eye and say tsv before hand. ts-veye-au. the v is like in void. or in viable
The ts sound is a little more like z, but ts is close enough.
Somehow you're accent makes this game so much better! Lol.
🤣
11:15 preparing meat in bulk to be eaten doesn't really make sense, so I assume people do that at home over a small fire
3 episodes in, any guesses as to when Biffa will notice the first 2 points you put down to build the houses determine their orientation?
🤪
Hi Biffa, maybe you need more familys in the farm for that to work properly!?
Once I fix my PC I will be buying this game.
You gotta build waaaaaay more houses, biffa! Where should families move into, when You dont provide place for them?
I'm loving the development of ZYXAEIOU
my new favourite series
Thank you @lifahlophe :-)
zwei ( tsvei - "ts" like you would say tsk tsk tsk just without the k. "vei" V like in vase and "ei" like the english I (when talking about yourself: 'I went there.' for example))
au ( ow - like "ow, that hurt" )
don't know if that makes it easier or harder now haha... not important anyway =)
I shall try! ;-)
They hype actually looks justified. I have purchased a Lordship ready for release ... 😅
I believe it's pronounced "Zendaya"
😂
"We will ait for a new family to arrive before we do that!" However, you need to put in new houses for them to move in😂😂
Great series as always😄
Thanks again!
Biffa you need more fields. And rotate them. This way you will always have crop
Biffa, when you said "Wattle and Daub" it took me back to double history lessons when i was 13🤣
I wonder where is the wind blowing at the industry and are there traffic problems? Maybe roundabouts?
I've seen other players assign multiple families to the farms, which might be the way to go. There's a reason why you can have up to 8 families.
39:45 took you long enough to figure that one out!
