    Solid toiletries are fantastic for saving space and weight, eliminating liquid, and they last for ages so no need to worry about running out of your smaller tubes, there are loads of brands around. I use Ethique but there are others around. Also laundry sheets are awesome, light, roll up, tear off whatever you need for a wash, and can be bought in Woolies in packs. I took 8 and only needed 4 for 2 of us. I had under 7 kg carry on for 4 weeks in Europe with no issues, these changes helped reduce weight and airline issues.

      I so agree with you and the solid toiletries. And how cool that you only took 7 kg for 4 weeks. Where did you go? Were there weather changes?
      I was in England for 1 a week and a half in March and only took 15 L with me: 2x shirts, 1x pullover, 1x leggings, 3x socks, 3x underwear + a 1 L toiletry bag. There are sinks and washing machines. If it is cold, the heaters are on and you can put the wet clothes on there. If the weather is good, a day later they will be dry. It was so freeing to have so little with me.

    I would really like a video on how to actually travel at your destination with your minimal backpack. For example, how do you make sure that you have enough clothes to wear every day, what do you do if your mini toiletries run out etc. etc. I also worry about sunscreen, since I need a very high protection. I can think of answers to these questions but I wonder whether there are some tricks and ideas from someone experienced. I think that would be a very helpful video. I am traveling (and working) to SEA for four months and while I'm ok to check in my luggage, I am hoping to travel with minimal stuff

      When it comes to clothes, remember that you are at least going to have a sink where you could wash them. I would not take more than 5 or 6 days worth of clothing depending on how long I am gonna be gone for. I normally take enough for three days and just wash it all daily.
      What I do not like is when you have different kinds of weather. If it is cold I will take my boots that are also good when it rains, but if you have days of rain and then some of sun, then you need a second pair of shoes. Even if they are thin, they take up space. I have a Patagonia jacket that is a windbreaker and is also waterproof but is also very thin, so it helps save up space. For toiletries I highly recommend using solid stuff. I have a solid shampoo/soap bar that lasts at least two months. Also a small solid conditioner. Toothpaste tabs are cool too.
      Wherever you go, you will find toiletries, even stuff that is ecological is getting easier and easier to find. And in case it gets too cold, for example, and you need something, you can also buy it wherever you are 😊

    Easy to travel with less in US! Took a month long trip in the Appalachian Mountains and they had a goodwill and got a pair of shoes to hike in for cheap, wore my husbands big socks to go over my pants for tick protection and when trip was over I walked into same goodwill and donated them back, felt like I rented them for $2! Totally worth it! We only ever fly with carry on.

    My packing for 3 months in Europe including Iceland in the fall time: 1 pair of black jeans (wore blue jeans for flights), 1 black hoodie that I wore on flight, 3 long sleeved waffle tops (form Amazon in 3 colours - blue, black and copper, 5 pairs of underwear, 5 pairs of merino wool socks, thermal underwear set, 1 pair of black leotards, 1 sleeveless thin black turtleneck, 4 thin narrow linen scarves that go with everything, 1 short sleeve dark grey t-shirt, 1 pair of light pj's, the only footwear I took were my Black Blundstone ankle boots, gloves and hat, rain coat, thin puff jacket, 1 pair of black cycling pants because they are insulated and are water and wind resistant, important when walking around waterfalls! Bathing suit was not needed as we had no plans on visiting the different hot springs, just not our thing. That's about it for the clothes, works out to 12 outfits in total. I take solid shampoo bar/soap bar, toothpaste tabs, solid lotion bar.

    I'm guessing that you've already left already since the first Taylor concert has already happened, but just a tip that I have the same waterbottle and the pressure on planes makes the water shoot out of the straw! I would suggest potentially packing one of their lids that doesn't have a straw for plane travel, although I know you're trying to pack minimally!

    Hey hey 😊 just found your channel and I absolutely love you videos!!! I’m from Australia too and have been trying to find Aussie info about traveling. Thanks for sharing all your info ❤ I’m off to Europe in June. How do you find the weight limit for your carry on? I’ve been looking at flights and it looks like most carry on now has dropped to 7kg. I’m a bit worried about going over and having to check my bag. Am I just looking at the wrong airlines or is this the normal?

    • @JourneyWithJemima
      @JourneyWithJemima  Před rokem +1

      Yeah some European carriers are much more strict with their weight limits - I think 7kg is pretty standard across the low-cost airlines which sucks :( I believe some offer 10kg carry on with a fee?

      @marisgoldenhour6212 Před rokem

      I had to fly to Eastern Europe in the fall and the carry-on weight limit is less than the US. Seems to be that way for most international flights. Also there tends to be more leeway on weight limit and number of bags for business/first class with domestic and international flights.

    So lovely! I have a 32 oz hydroflask that I love and I know I'd like the feature of how it retains the coldness. But I'm thinking it's just toooo heavy for me to carry to Asia. The one you have, is lightweight and the top handle of the lid is wide enough to be hooked or held without hurting my fingers.
