Was considering getting one of these but it seems that even with the gain turned way down it’s real dirty and it’s about $400 overpriced too, glad my offer was ignored…
Is this based off like the Overdrive Special mid range? Steel String Singer mid range?? I’m kinda confused, is this pedal inspired by everything dumble and kind of it’s own thing? Or?…….
+Avinaash Munohur How did you like the standard? I'm thinking of going with the standard as well, but haven't had a chance to compare that to the special. Kinda feel like the standard has a bit more nasty grit to it (which is a good thing;))
+shockcityrockerHey!! I have not tried the Special so I cannot really say much about how much difference the toggle switch makes. I also went with the Standard because I wanted more grease and grit, and I am not disappointed I did. It's a great pedal with a very (very) fat tone and a lot of rich complex overtones, even at low volume. The accent knob is very drastic and I find that it interacts in a very lively way with the tone knob so finding the sweet spot requires experimenting with both. It also seems to be slightly more open in the lower mids, where the Special seems to have a bit more compression (from what I have gathered from other Dumbloid owners). It's an expensive pedal but I managed to grab mine second hand and in perfect condition so I'm happy. It definitely needs a good amp for the ultra touch-sensitive organic tones to really shine... with the right amp/speaker, those early Ford/Bonamassa/Landau/Herring/Santana tones are all in there. Last thing, I personally find that the pedal works better with humbuckers than with singlecoils (where both my Analogman TS808 and Free-the-Tone SOV2 give the sort of somewhat-bright punch a Strat needs - for example - and where the Dumbloid tends to be a bit thicker and warmer), but it might be just my ears. All I can say is that my Tokai Les Paul with handwired PAFs sounds absolutely incredible through the Dumbloid into a Two-Rock Studio Pro with Scumbacks' version of the G12-65. Hope this helps you decide.
Thanx for the info;)) Yeah, I'll probably try one or the other. They both sound good from all the demos I've seen. It almost sounded like the standard was a bit of a darker, rich sound- really capturing that Dumble characteristic. Up until now, I've been using a few of the Pete Cornish pedals which are great; a bit different than this but, love 'em, along with a Deluxe Reverb, VOX AC-30 & Twin Reverb. Maybe if I'm patient, I can wait until later in the year; I'll be in Japan & maybe could find them in some of the shops & compare them, etc. Helluva lot cheaper than an actual Dumble , hahaha ;)))
Not if you own one..lol. This pedal is very versatile, stacked with other drives get very unique harmonics an sound, also use as fat pre-amp(pickin to metal)!!! Klon is overpriced an hyped!!! Shin'sMusic dumbloid putting Klon's horsie or No horse to shame.. Shin Suzuki's pedals are up there with the Best of them..🤘
Awesome demo! Straight to the point. And that tone is incredible!!
Very expensive but kick ass, makes me think of Billy gibbons in a cloud of cigar smoke.
