This is just a social/musical experiment.
The concept is to spend one day with each song - any song
in my library of multi-tracks from several different artists.
Then the following day, record only one audio take of the
chosen song - remove the original drums, and leave mine in.
Record some video too, in black & white.
Spend no more than an hour mixing the audio - no comping,
sampling, nudging or quantizing - leave the clams in, if any.
Next, sync both the audio and video together.
And last, throw it up on CZcams, IG & Facebook for any
public ridicule, critique, or praise.

Brilliant, absolutely love Talk Talk , Mark Hollis was a genius, the Colour of Spring, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are sublime, beyond their time, and invented the whole 'Post Rock' music with bands like Radiohead.

Awesome if you don't mind me asking, how do you sync up the songs so that you know exactly where it the intro starts without having the original drums
Thank you. I don't mind at all, you're not the first person to ask about this. So, what I do is record a 2 or 4 bar count-in, then I line it up at the header of the song in ProTools. This is how I know when to drop in. With this tune, I recorded a 4 bar count-in so that I could start the song with just the 4/4 rhythm in the beginning then drop into the actual song. I hope that makes since. With all these clip I create, this is how I'll start the song unless another instrument starts it. There might be an easier way to do this sort of method in Logic or ProTools but I'm unaware of it.

I'm assuming you're referring to the accents at 1:21 and 2:22 that build up the chorus section? Those are the actual parts as they were recorded. Lee plays the floor tom and snare fill that introduces the chorus. I'm actually playing the song as it was recorded with the exception of those hi-hat triplets in the bridge that begin at 2:37 which are me just adding a little of myself, respectively.
