Ok, so this may help you... I just saw a video how a company used a roller to apply the joint compound. The joint compound was watered down to a pancake batter consistency. After applying the joint compound to the wall using the roller, he then smooth it out with a trowel. The video is called level 5 skip troweling, textering, or skim coating..(Something like that, can't remember the exact title)
Hiiii!!! Yessss since making this video I saw that too and have done that way for the rest of our house. SO MUCH EASIER!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
do you have the link to that video?? I want to do this for my house!
Great technique. I would recommend getting a pole sand sander and sand all the walls first and it will knock down the high spots. Also, thin you joint compound a little bit. Great video!
Thank you!! You should have saw me with the pile sander hahaha!! Maybe I was doing it wayyyyyy wrong because I was a mess! What pole sander do you recommend?
Sand before putting the joint compound?
@@SuperSuperLawyea
No point. Don’t need that extra step.
What do you use to thin joint compound with, water? Thanks
Yea throwing some water in compound to make it a yogurt texture is idea. It’ll come out smooth as glass
learned that trick, made skimming my hallway and bedroom walls 10 times easier🙌

Thank you for this video! I will definitely implement your techinque!
You're so welcome!
I love this
Thank you!!
I can't tell, but did you remove the paint form the wall first? Primer it or anything or does it go right over the paint?
I didn’t remove the paint just didn’t over it, after it was smoothed I applied Roman clay on top
Great job. Just a heads up though for others. Depending on your wall, and how many times it was painted over, you may need to go the sanding route. Lot more work. But may be necessary if you don't want wall and sand chipping off...
How long to dry?
Brittany: "You don't need a husband, girl power"
Me: *the husband watching this*
that's awesome! I was staring at the walls and thinking I don't think I can do that, I could but not as good as the professionals.
This looks fun and is a great way to bond with your spouse. We're going to try it out. thank you!
Yessss! Do it! Honestly I need my husband for everything. I start it, he finishes it!! Lollll
just to buy the house. thats all
Would love to see the finished video! How’s the bathroom?
Ah thank you! I definitely need to get it up! Hopefully next week. It was on pause while we did the fireplace and holidays! But I’m going to make it a priority! It’s so pretty so stay tuned!
Can you do it over old paint or do we have to sand it first?
Definitely can do it over old paint for sure!
Thank you!
You bet! I’m so glad you loved it!
When putting mud on a painted wall, it is best to use hot mud aka easy sand 90. It bonds to a painted surface far better than a premix. Also wear a respirator while mixing and sanding any of these products.
Ahhh thank you I’m gonna keep this info for sure! But surprisingly our new builder was pretty bad and didn’t even paint our house!
Is it better to try to take off the paint first, maybe sand it down? Or your method work pretty good regardless of removing paint and texture?
Girl I need a husband 😂but thank you for this, I need to smooth kitchen wall for a mural ❤
I guess I do too!😜
My whole freaking house is a textured nightmare!! Im guessing that if I do this to my walls, I must also do it to the celings?? Advice anyone?? I need help!😂
Sooo I thought the same thing as you. I go back and forth because it’s so much work. We did do it in the bathroom and in the room next to it with the ceilings too. We plan to put beams up so maybe it will distract them
I just did this to my front room and oh my 😩 it’s a lot lol
I know right!!!!! I thought when I made this video it was “so easy” man it definitely took a lot of time!!!
😂 “you don’t need a husband, you don’t need a man, I just used him” 💪🏽 thanks for sharing though!! My whole house has different textures all over! Is the joint compound pre mixed?
Haha I thought I didn’t need him, but honestly I need him for everything! He’s truly the best😂😂😂 I wish I could be a DIY girlie all on my own, but that’s not in my blood apparently
I did get the one premixed!
So did you sand at all?
Only in some spots like the corners and if it was raised but not much honestly
My gramma is in serious need of this 😅 btw you look so pretty! 💕🥰
Haha Grandma get to smoothing!! Thanks girl! 😘😘
Nice job, next time water it down try using plus 3 it will give u more time as ur not a pro to smooth the walls
Is plus 3 a brand?
yours is not the easiest way to do it. Thin your joint compound and roll it on. Knife it smooth.
That’s what we have done since
lol. I thought you said smooth…. That’s got cracks…. There are levels to “smoothness” on drywall…. Lvl 5 is the highest
Thank you
Yes you doo obviously 😂
Sure do! Always and forever he’s the man!
Don’t need a man….. ***proceeds to use husband****
Always! He’s the best
She says you don’t need a man to do this but used her man and said she’s just using him smh
You don’t need a husband
You don’t need a man
But I used him
Very lucky guy !
Always use him. Cuz he hates my work. lol!
"You don't need a husband, you don't need a man..."
Apparently, you do.
I like the video, however there is nothing wrong in needing a man to help, if don’t need a husband ( man) then why you use him.
100% realized I always need him!
I was about to subscribe but then heard you say you dont need a man
🤭🤭😂
Definitely need my man
She realized this stuff is harder then applying butter on bread , thanks husband , I’ll take care of you in the bedroom
Not hard. He’s just better at it so why not use him? But you definitely don’t need a man.
@@Oliviaatlashome I need a woman , and they don’t make them like they used to anymore.
You need a husband.
You need a man.
You clearly don’t watch the channel
She clearly mentioned her husband in the video 😂 what a loser
@@Oliviaatlashome That's why we say it.
She don’t need a man for this…you silly as hell. She did an amazing job! I’ve honestly been waiting for a video like this because I have a textured wall that I am trying to get rid off forever and I am for sure trying this! Please post an update !! Would love to see the after!
Yall taking this independent woman thing too far! You kinda put egg on your face by saying I didn’t need a husband, but then quickly explaining that you needed him lol. SMH I feel for your husband
I absoutley did not, I personally use him for EVERYTHING but I could have done it myself for sure, but he is a perfectionist and hates my work lol
